HobbyKing 3D Printer Filament 1.75mm POM 1.0KG Spool (White)

HobbyKing have come out with a huge new range of 3D Printer Filaments at prices that will have you printing all day and all night.

The range covers PLA, ABS, Flexible, Color Changing, Luminous, Nylon, Polycarbonate, Acetal (POM), Metal Composite and even a water soluble filament for printing molds. So there is a filament for every project you have in mind. HobbyKing filaments have a stable melting point, good round shape and most importantly a 0.01mm uniform diameter tolerance for a consistent flow rate.

POM:

**POM releases formaldehyde toxic fumes at high temperatures. **

**DO NOT print POM beyond 220-230 °C. **

**We recommend printing in a well-ventilated area, or in a enclosure with a air filter"

POM or Polyoxymethylene is also know by other names such as acetal, polyacetal, polyformaldehyde.

It is a great product if you have repeated use and need high stiffness, low friction or high impact resistance and can make products like ball bearings, gears or lock systems.

3D printing is a fun and exciting hobby with a wide range of uses from prototyping parts to making toys for the kids. Picking the right filament for your application is very important.

Tricky!

May 11, 2021

The quality of this product, price and delivery from HobbyKing were all excellent as expected.
This was my first foray into trying to print with POM and I have to say, it's tricky. I can't say I had a great deal of success but I'm printing with what might be termed a domestic printer and frankly, I feel you maybe need something better to do this properly.
If you need POM, the product is fine, but be prepared to work at it to get a good result.

Slippery stuff

Mar 09, 2019

Also known as delrin a form of hardened nylon is extremely slippery and tuff stuff. If you can, try to design the part with extra bottom material, and good luck making it stick but if you keep it molting hot and clear it tends to stay put until it cools and gets frosty. You can try printing on top of some other material.

Very difficult to stick to the bed.

Feb 11, 2017

Finally I've got POM to stick to my heated bed.
I use wood, multiplex, sanded, on the 120'C heated bed.
After the first layer on low speed, 240'C nozzle temperature, I pause and use CA glue and accelerator to all the edges.
Then continue on moderate speed at 240 'C extruder temperature.
The wooden plate must be strong and well fastened to the bed, else all get bended.
After printing it's very difficult to separate the work from the wood.

This material prints really well and is extremely tough. BEWARE I am yet to find a reliable print surface due to shrinkage. You will need heated build plate and probably a very warm printer enclosure.
