hi guys! will this motor work on trex 450 pro? i wanna use with YEP 80A esc (11.1v 2200mah 3S lipo), it is not too much? please let me know what do you think about? CHEERS!

Hi. I already have yep-80A. Just wanna know if its will work together. Simply don't want buy and burn motor. Cheers.

hello! ESC 60A enough it easier and cold for NK 450. olichnaya engine!
 Zaza dan 59 points
I ALREADY HAVE 80A ESC. Will 80A ESC burn this motor or will work fine? I don't want buy another ESC. If 80AMP is too much and can burn that motor, I will buy another MOTOR probably scorpion or similar. Thanks guys! Thanks everyone who read and understand my question. Cheers!
 LEONARDO DE MACEDO 27 points
See spec. Recomended ESC: 2~4S/50A
 Cody f86saber 921 points
The 80A ESC will not harm the motor. The motor's current draw, measured in Amps, is determined by the windings of the motor itself. There is no harm in using a larger ESC. Hope this helps!
 Zaza dan 59 points
Thanks CODY f86saber! You are gentleman! Cheers!
 vladislaw 47 points
hello! bad ESC 40A just burn! ESC 60A enough it easier and cold for NC 450. ESC80A but would work too! olichnaya engine!
 Tejas 3 points
It will work in a so-so manner *) but it will be more better if you get the new motor of higher current rate, cheers and good luck (Y) :)
 Zaza dan 59 points
Hi Tejas! And which motor are you recommend for YEP 80A esc? Cheers!
 BUDDY Z28 48 points
Hey Zaza dan, to calm your mind and give a definite answer. Your 80 amp ESC , and lipo are a perfect combo on this motor....the only thing you will need is a 10 tooth pinion (3.17). This to keep your headspeed at proper speed. I used this motor on my 450 heli. Works great. Hope this helps Buddy.
 Zaza dan 59 points
Hi BUDDY Z28! Thanks for reply. Do you know how many T pinion gear will be best on trex 450, if I'm using helical pinion gear? I have 121 slant main gear installed on my 450 pro. Does is 10T normal and 10T helical same? I think it's difference but don't know too much about gears ratio. ETC.... Please help choosing helical gear. Cheers!
 BUDDY Z28 48 points
Yes zaza. They are different, look at your main gear, if the teeth are straight up and down. Then its normal. But if they angle, then you need helical.
 Zaza dan 59 points
Hi BUDDY Z28! They are with angle and 121 teeth. So I guess i need helical pinion gear. Question is : how many teeth gear I need for motor? Cheers mate
 BUDDY Z28 48 points
Will let you know for surewhen I get off work. But my 450 is normal.but the tooth count should be the same.if not ill get you the formula specs to get proper heli headspeed. Talk to you later.
 Zaza dan 59 points
Thanks buddy. You are the best. Your explanations are very good and I can't understand why your points is low. Some of people in here have best point scoring but they never answer questions properly. Cheers mate!
 BUDDY Z28 48 points
Hey zaza dan, thank you for you comment. Im more interstedin helping with the right information than points, but point are good *) What you have is TRex 450 slant, with 121tooth gear. im guessing you're new to 3D heli. If so, you dont want to mess around with expo trimming, and just install and fly. So here is the best comboTurnigy 450 H2218 Brushless outrunner 2100KV, your 2200 3 cell lipo, and your 80 amp ESC. And a 12 tooth pinion , will give you a controllable hover, yet give a good 3D flying experience. Your headspeed will be at 2300 RPM , max at 2454 RPM. Plenty of power yet not uncontrollable. Once you master your skill you can step it up. Hope this helps Buddy
 Zaza dan 59 points
You are very helpful, Nice and very friendly person! Thank you very much. Cheers BUDDY Z28!!!

I am using this motor in a HK450 PRO with ESC Plush 40A. My setup is pinion 13T, 933 in ciclic and 922 with ga-250 for the tail. My 3s 2200mah 40C Turnigy is exhausted with 3.10V in each cell with 60 seconds of flying... What can it be ?? I already test with other batteries and tha same occur =/
 LEONARDO DE MACEDO 27 points
Voce coloca uma bateria de 3s, carregadar e ela durar somente 60segundos, e isso ? se for eu nunca vi uma perda de carga tao rapida.
 radicalrj 19 points
Descobri... 4400kv com pinhã*o e 13T é* forte demais para um 450. Troquei para um de 3500kv e resolveu...
 LEONARDO DE MACEDO 27 points
Show, eu uso Typhon 3250kv. no hk450, muito bom.
 BUDDY Z28 48 points
Hey radicalrj, im surprised your 40 amp ESC hasnt burnt. But your problem is your pinion it too big. You need a 10 tooth pinion to keep proper headspeed at this high KV. And the pinion is bogging down your motor, drawing too much amps, killing your lipo. And eventually your ESC. Hope this helps Buddy.

is this good to use on 5x4.5" prop?
 Keith 41 points
Need a little more info. What are you putting it on and what battery are you going to use to power it?
 dhiva 2 points
battery of 11.1v(3s).
 dhiva 2 points
suggest me proper esc too.
 Keith 41 points
I would use at least a 30 amp esc and yeah it should work just fine. Reverse polarity on this motor works just fine. No change in output. Very fast motor though. All my quads use 3s 11.1v but none of them are runnning a 4400 kv motor. I only use 1050kv motors on most of my quads. I hope this helps you out.

does this motor fir rc planes?
 Lucas Duba 117 points
yes. just depends on the size of plane you want ot fly.

I guess is good for planes up to 1kg. Use small propelers due to high KV! Better for pillon racers etc...

If you wanna fly 3D I guess this one is good, powerfull for a 450. I use on my 2 450 the Turnigy Thypoon 2215 what I find a good combination of power and flight time for a "sport" flight... But if You want something more radical you need more power go for this... {}s, Nice Flights.

I have brushless motor ataached to my 450H but when I give throttle input it rotates very little for few seconds and again I have to bring the throttle stick down to start the motion of the rotor...........I think I am not getting the direction of rotation of motor right. I even interchanged two of the wires from ESC as I read many places but it did not help. Also during this both my ESC and Motor are getting excessively heated............Please reply

 H-KING_SCOTT 5219 points
Recommended ESC is 50amp,think you will need to upgrade your ESC if you wish to use this motor to its full potential.
 BUDDY Z28 48 points
No, it will burn your esc for sure. I'm using the Turing plush, works great. It's more money but if you want power you have to pay. Unfortunately that's the way It is. But we'll worth it !

As mentioned , just revers 2 wires , and that should be any 2 wires , its not overly important which two. I usually test direction without rotor blades , like when Im about to set up the gyro on the floor . This way I sort out most things before even attempting to hover ..

Just tested APC 4.5 x 4.5 at 3s battery. at half throttle wattmeter showed ~35A, too much thrust to test on full throttle, motor slightly got warm. If you get good airflow to the motor, APC 4~5 inch prop would be the maximal.

and with propeller pusher? or only standard? thanks
 EDWARD 71 points
Sorry forgot to tell it is the pusher configuration. Otherwise I would have been blown away by the propwash! Thanks for giving me the credit and hope it helps! I might use it either in EDF64 or pusher for a heavier plane.
 Julio Cesar 1 points
Hi I want to make a quadrucopter, and i want to buy this motor but you told me that motor slightly warm with the proppelker4.5x4.5 so, i need 4"propellers 2 standard and 2 pusher what propeller buy? Yhanks
 EDWARD 71 points
This motor has high kv, so either small prop, or EDF, or gear reduction. Not sure how you are going to use this motor for quadrucopter. Search online like RCGroups**** for more discussion about quadrucopter setup and sure you will find tons of info.
 solentlife 117 points
Plan to use a 4.75 x 4.75 .... 5 x 5 on a Parkjet to get ultimate speed ... amps should play around the 55A mark ....
The ideal would be about 4.1 x 4.1 to stay in lower amps figures ... but then that will only give good speed - not the banshee rush I'm looking for !
EDWARD  71 points - 5/1/2012

Anyone install this motor in a 70mm fan running 4s? How much is the amp and wattage? How warm did the motor get after full throttle for around 1 minute?

 mad jay 188 points
You'll get away with it with a 5 blade fan and a decent 55a ESC. I tried it myself, but it does generate a bit of heat. I'm now going to use it on 3s on a custom built 7 blade alloy EDF. Very strong motor, has 4mm bearings,3.17mm shaft and more torque than you can shake a stick at!

want to buy this motor for a parkjet with a pusher prop what is the best motor mount i can fond here for that application? help please
 mad jay 188 points
Dunno, but you have read the kv rating? What prop and battery are you gonna use? I can't help thinking that might be a step too far. You would need a 2s max. with something like a 5x2 prop. And then you will kill batteries! After having said all that, a steel L bracket with the correct holes would work. Easy to make, cut steel to size and shape, make holes and bend. Oh and by the way, at least a 60a ESC,this will pull lots of amps! Good luck....

Could i be so bold as to suggest trying the SK3 2836 2500kv Turnigy motor. I have one on a Falcon flying wing 1350mm wingspan, with a 7x4 poly comp prop. BEST PUSHPROP SETUP I OWN SO FAR!!!!!!! On a parkjet this will be out of this world, litteraly! Added bonus is you will have about a 10-12 minute flight from your 2200mah batt. Happy building. All the best, Jay.

LOL exactly out of this world lol well my jet it will be a little bigger than yours but yeah you are right, I'm looking for power and speed means around 80mph I hope. lol

I have for Hobby King parkjet ... yes the small one. Metal mount, 5x5 prop as advised for PKJ, 3S 1500 .. 1800mAh 25C Zippy Compact LiPo ..... speeds are blistering .... over 200kph. Will take a 4S but then you need to be serious on ESC ... on 3S you need a 60A ... on 4S I suggest an 80A ESC. Yes I'm crazy ... see us on wattflyer ... pusher jets Need For Speed thread ...

in the end burnt out ESC's ... need 90A for 4S ... 70A for 3S on 5x5 props. Insane !!

Which esc is suitable for this motor? I'd like to use it at a HK 450 V2.Have you any other suggestions for this heli? Thank you very much!
 mad jay 188 points
there is a Turnigy typhoon heli motor 3550kv and also a 3450kv version. The 3450 has a little more torque. With these you should get a little more time in the air.The above motor is more a performance model. In both cases a Turnigy plush 40a ESC is nice and small and won't get hot.Sorry this sounds like an advert for Turnigy, but they're very well priced!

Which 64mm EDF from HK would fit to this motor? I wanted to keep the old Fan of my Concept X Pro Jet, but the old brushless is one of the long-nose-ones. So i have to install an new unit. Thank you guys!
 mad jay 188 points
The 7 blade 64 fan has a big enough motor housing to accept this motor, but only a 3mm shaft adapter. However there is an adapter for 3.17mm shaft under no.108 7b in EDF section.

How many magnet pols have this motor? Is this model (4400kv) better than the H2223 with 2900kv? I need the motor for my HK450GT, K-Force 40A (Governor Mode), 10 or 11T pinion, 2200mAh 40C and 20C. Thanks guy's

this motor has 6 poles/magnets. More RPM=lower gearing needed hence more torque. I consider this better, but that's not gospel!

I have 2900 in a trex450 4s 40c setup, and 4400 in a trex450 3s 40c setup. Both run 14t pinions and they fly with no problems, but very similer in power. 40 esc is good. Id say your pinion depends how you fly, the 2900 is gona be very slow headspeed with 3s 10-11t pinion
 Overfill 144 points
2900headspeed it not so slow for a 450 pro. Align say to their manual that 2980 pitch -11, 12t is recommended.

Used in combination with AOE RC 64mm ducted Fan mount, 7 blades 64mm rotor, and 4S 2200mAh nanotech 25-50C. Awesome perfomance, more than 1250 grms of static thrust, and impressive speed. You will need 45A speed controller at least. Mounted on Valkyrie Bomber sell here at HK. Stock 70 mm fan horrible umballanced, poor quality outrunner. Finally smooth response and enough thrust for hand lauch. Only drawback one 3mm thread of motor mount very very weak.

Great EDF motor (Although listed as Heli motor), runs cool and ballanced enough torque for HAOYE 7 blades rotors(64mm).
