HobbyKing Spitfire w/ Brushless motor & ESC Plug-n-Fly (USA Warehouse)
The HobbyKing Brushless Spitfire comes ready to fly. All you need to include is your own radio, receiver and battery. Everything else is included. The Spitfire comes 97% pre-built and all you need to do is screw in main wing, tail assembly and plug in the landing gear.
I bought this plane before and crashed it into a telephone pole due to my "thumb" problem. I kid you not, the motor stuck into the pole. A friend and I climbed up a ladder and retrieved the plane (safely of course) and I flew it again after gluing only to pieces of the tail. The nose cone was trashed, but, I was shocked that the motor still ran.
ok guys, i need a favor, do somebody know were i can get the spinner for 3 blades fix in this spitty? I know i can get spinner dubro's for 2 blades and replace propeller APC or MAS, but i like en 3 blades* that is rigth in the air you can see the blades and is more faster, i know* but i wanna original, but the way i replaced the original prop for corsair 3 blade and flight excellent but i my last flight... sun in my eyes lost orientation, diven nose down to the concrete from 30 ft and... you know rest of the story* fuselage a little glue requiered, propeller, wing and tail good condition, motor shaft a little bend but spinner i can't tell you, but in general this is a good warbird figther airplane* thank you guys
opal226 and you did not break the PROP wow. That was lucky. HK is getting with spares. In the International Warehouse you will find in Planes ARF,RTF,KIT > Replacement Parts for a 650mm one. Keep looking there I am sure they will get one soon.
yes my friend, i was sorprice, funny and curious the same time, but let my tell the propeller it wasn't the original, it was replaced for HK F4U Corsair 1160x3 Replacement Propeller that almost the same size but the original spinner need a little trim and you have more propeller (3 blades) option to replace if do you like or somebody like 3 blades* but thank you kellyann i will take a look
Okisub, PRODUCT ID: DT750 is 50KV faster than the stock motor and bolts right in. For a really hot motor that bolts right in use PRODUCT ID: L3010C-1300BM but you will need to upgrade to a 40A esc minimum because you'll pull 38 amps with stock prop.
They are 11x6 three bladed props. I haven't found anyone stocking them yet. it is the Art Tech plane as others have reported and the same prop at their Corsair uses. it does ship with two props
Just go out and buy some batts from your LHS, I waited and waited and they never came in. Alternitvely you can go with the 1050 20c batts. DHDSRacer did a review video using them
Now that I have the plane I can report that the battery compartment is a plastic cage so you can't dig out foam to enlarge it. The plane comes with the XT60 connectors installed on the ESC. I was able to find 1300 3s1p Lipos locally that fit.
I got several 1300mah packs from another US based mailorder place and converted the ESC to Deans Ultra connectors and it worked out fine. I had fun flying the plane this summer but ended up breaking and then removing the landing gear due to my rough grass field. it flies fine without them. I also used the aileron servos without the Y connector and programmed flaperons on my transmitter and some flaps made the plane slow down and land with no bad stall characteristics
You know what would be a revolutionary idea? To list the specs of the items in the US warehouse in standard units instead of metric ones. Wouldn't that be great? Just a thought...
It would Be too time consuming for them to have to convert everything, and besides, a lot of stuff in RC in the USA is in metric anyway. If you want to know that bad all you have to do is find an online converter and put in the values. Or you could ask nicely for someone to do it for you. You don't have to be sarcastic
You're right* I don't have to be sarcastic. It was my way of adding a little humor to my comment. I wasn't trying to offend. But you don't HAVE to comment on this since you do not work for HobbyKing. Maybe it's not too time consuming for them, maybe they just don't think anyone cares, maybe I already use Google to convert untis, maybe I don't like to have to do that, maybe I just want to read it on the store I buy from and maybe HobbyKing appreciates customers' feedback. Maybe.

I just flew mine. Looks are 5 star. Flying is good but,,,, When throttled back to idle, it virtually dives for the ground. It won't glide on its own. Needs power for landing.
This tells me that the prop is pulling it up and keeping it in the air. Shouldn't be that way, it SHOULD fly on the wing.
The solution is more incidence on the wing with some downthrust to compensate. And some forward CG.
Prop and motor combo is perfect.

Flew this Spitfire for the first time 10/5/2010 talk about a hoot! great flying model with a Turnigy 1500 MAH pack pretty good flight times the fuselage is slightly twisted and could not line Stabilizer up with the wing, and the tape covering the servo wires will not stick but I can't fault the way it flies. great looks great flight performance and with an APC prop should really cook!

I purchased two planes for Christmas, a Corsair for myself, and this Spitfire for my son. The fit and finish of the Spitfire was better than the Corsair, and he had it plugged and ready to fly in about 10 minutes - no issues. In the air the Corsair is much more stable. The Spitfire has a higher stall speed, falls off to one side (dangerously) in a stall, and does not track on a tight back loop (twists to one side and turns into an outside roll). The Corsair had none of these issues, but was much more troublesome putting together. The Spitfire also has a nice LONG easily accessible battery compartment, where the Corsair has a tiny square hole that requires the batter to be inserted lengthwise to fit. Both planes fly nicely, and look great in the air, but the Spitfire is more demanding to fly so I have given it 4 stars instead of 5.

Not the fastest plane ever but plenty of power and smooth responsive flight. Takes off quick and performs all aerobatics well. As others have noted, needs power to land and stay aloft, wing loading on scale warbirds is usually high which doesn't allow for long slow glides into landings. This is true among their full size protoges. With regards to aerodynamics Instability = manouverability. True warbirds are instable by design and thus harder to control. Never-the-less, fun to fly and worth to $$$.
