90mm EDF JET w/ Air Retracts (Grey version) (PNF) (USA Warehouse)
90mm EDF JET w/ Air Retracts (Grey version) (PNF) (USA Warehouse)

A very big EDF jet that offers superb performance, huge presence both on the air and on the ground and being a PNF, a quick build. There is plenty of power on tap from the V2 1770kv/90mm fan combo, when used with a 6s Lipoly, slow fly ability is also impressive courtesy of the pre fitted flaps, but that is not what this superb looking jet is all about, high speed and high manevoeverability are the name of the game!

This model features an all moving tailplane as well as a rudder and ailerons, which combined with the light-flying weight and high thrust EDF unit, should satisfy even the most demanding of pilots. Air retracts, good quality servos, a whopping 100A ESC all add up to a reliable and easy to live with large jet. This is an exciting looking big size EDF model that will impress everyone at your next club meeting!

I have the above model (grey). The instructions state that the CG is 110mm from the wing leading edge, but that seems to place it fairly forward on the wing. I may be wrong, but 110 seems to be quite a bit forward from where the center of lift of the wing looks like it would be. The drawing in the instructions shows 110mm, but where they actually drew the CG emblem is considerably more than where 110 is located on my model. Also. For Robert. I have charged my air system to 110 PSI many times without problem. I added a standard valve stem from an automobile air shock kit so that I can use a standard air tank and chuck, rather then using a tiny hand pump. The valve stem is plastic and weighs almost nothing.

Any idea how many pounds of pressure you can put in the system safely? It seems 80 is not enough. Thanks.

Do I need to buy a special charger for my li-po batteries? I triied to charge with the unit that came but there is nothing. Pls help.

Does anyone have a suggestion for servoless retracts for this plane? Mine came with air, pretty flimsy looking, especially the nose gear. Also, mine is EPS.

No-one has the instructions for the jet above. My jet does not have leading edge slats. I have an air tank for the laning gear control. No instructions came with the jet, or should I save the wrong set came with the jet. Can anyone out there help me. Spanky41

I don't see leading edge slats in the picture. Why do you think it comes with them?
 guitarPlaya 160 points
Slats and electric retracts come on the blue camo version is what I've found. I've bought both

Hi guys.
Would this battery work with this 90mm F-18 jet?
- Turnigy nano-tech 6000mah 6S 25~50C Lipo Pack??
Thanks
 ANDY in c.a.p 348 points
yes that will by fine
 guitarPlaya 160 points
I wouldnt go anything higher than 4000mah. I have this jet the extra weight would require an even longer takeoff

Hi guitarPlaya, Good input, advice to take in consideration. How do you like your jet? Did you use it straight out of the box? Some guys were talking about balancing the fan or replacing the fan unit? It seems to be a great plane. Thanks for your help and have a nice one, Philippe Bouchard Quebec city
 guitarPlaya 160 points
Yes out of the box it was just fine easy to build PNF on 4000mah I wouldnt run it for more than 2minutes before bringing her in for landing then check your mah or voltage and see if you can push the flight time any further. Also very important Do Not Glue the Missles and drop tanks they totally increase drag thus greatly reducing speed. Use them for static display only take them off during flight :)

EPS or EPO?
 ANDY in c.a.p 348 points

 timrinaldo 16 points

Content arrived well packed. EDF unit needs balacing. Air retracts of good quality. Includes optional vector thrust. Powerfull brushless motor. EPO foam. Instructions needs some improvements to inform of additional parts in kit. Large scale jet is impressive. Would recommend for your collection of rc planes.

Sooo, finally put it together and took her the the EDF day at the flying field. the coolest airsucker at the scene had people asking questions and carrying on. this plane is an easy build. The other pilots maintain one should avoid the vectoring due to sensitivity and it requires some level of skill to successfully incorportae this feature. So Im thankful I brought it there for evaluation. Hence the vectorons have been removed.
Will attempt maiden in three days.

So maidened my HK F-16 with my Turnigy 9X TX and Turnigy 40006S. The battery puffed three minutes into the flight and I recall the voltage detector on my charger sensed only five cells during the charge. Should have believed it. It flew sluggish at about 25ft. in to air on the 5S's. So have to complain to HK about the battery> was able to bring her down with minor cosmetic damage which have since been fixed. Now waiting for a 40006S with 6S. Good to see it flys!!!!

This plane is awesome! flys quite nicely! give yourself half a football field for takeoff especially if not on asphalt! five minutes half throttle after takeoff 6s/4000 which balances it a little tail heavy so you can go higher but not lower. Not superfast but for a 90mm it moves quite nicely and is present in the air with the drop tanks and missles!! you will love it easy build. Check all the glue points. I had to reglue/epoxy all the LG mounts. Not using the air system just leaving them down but they are quality anodized metal and sturdy. 9gr servos but they work well flaps and all...

So pulled it out the water yesterday. The speed control sucks on this plane now its all busted up only five flights and its dead. If you get this plane highly recommend you buy an after market ESC. the third flight it began to cut out and sputter. Should have seen the writing on the wall. Oh well I will get another and follow my own advice.
