Hobby King P-51D Mustang Plug-n-Fly (AUS Warehouse)
The HobbyKing Brushless P-51D Mustang comes ready to fly. All you need to include is your own radio, receiver and battery. Everything else is included. This particular model has received rave reviews from several magazines. And its not hard to understand why when you notice the detail and quality of the kit. The P51D comes 97% pre-built and all you need to do is screw in main wing, tail assembly and plug in the landing gear.
Control clevises. Can anyone give me the part number or link for the control clevises for this and other models. The ones I have found on the site are either too big or too small
I have replaced stock with prod D4023-850 Out Runner Motor and 12x6 prop....no landing gear.. hk 35A esc...2200 40c in fusilage tunnel
This combo gives 1600g of thrust and makes HK P-51 Mustang a fantastic 3d flyer vertical on 60% throtle
ps i have buddy coded these three products (mot, prop & esc) on the forum, under heading 1600g of thrust so u can get my Platinum Pricing Happy Flying
pps i have bent an aluminium ruler into a square shape for the enging mount at this combo stretched the std motor mount forwards under WOT
Solution for any Australians looking for parts for this plane:
Remove your backorder from the Hobby King site.
Find a LHS that has an account with "e-go models". They are the Australian distributors for Art-Tech. I went into Mandurah's "Nifty RC" here in WA. Asked about replacement undercarraige. He called the local rep. It was delivered to the store next day!
Only painful part was the price - $20
BUT I am now back in the air after weeks of being grounded....
Beats the **** out of waiting for HobbyKing!
Haha yeah that RC shop is VERY expensive compared to online shopping but sometimes you just can't wait the two weeks for parts... depends how empty the wallet and how free your time!
Barry I needed a new fus for my P51, E-GO models wanted over $80.00 for the bare fus, they are as dear as poison. Even with the extra postage it was cheaper to by from Killer Planes.
Hi LUke, Iwrote a small desciption in the reveiw aust review section descibing how i went about it. The onlt thing i did not mention is to lay velcro down on the battery tray to secure battery. Its not hard mode to do so give it a crack and you will enjoy long flight times, just shout if you need help. all the best gary
Hi Gary, Thanks for the information. It is much appreciated. I was reading through the Art-Tech P51 manual and it said that the CofG is 10.5" to 11.5" back from the tip of the nose cone. Does this sound right to you? At the moment I have the 2200mA battery lying in a channel in the moulding and it sits very snug and appears to put the CofG in the right range. I have made up some small cables that allows me to recharge the battery in the plane. The cables just sit in the normal battery compartment. I also made up a small link cable the joins the -ve battery lead to easily connect and disconnect power without having to struggle with connectors. When I'm happy with how everything fits, I'll take some photos and put them in the Files page for others to use if they want. Thanks again for your help. Cheers, Luke
I just finished building this kit (see review) and I will be using a 2200mAH battery and so could someone please be able to tell me where the CofG should be? Thanks, Luke
Hi Luke, I have this plane and balance mine at the panel line on top of wing just behind the middle gun. UNLess you have done the cockpit battery conversion you will have problems balancing this plane. good luck
Hello, I'm new to this so please excuse my ignorance. The kit page says that it comes with a 20A ESC, but the one in the plane says 2*10A? I know that 2X10=20 but is this the same thing? Also, which pin on the receiver is the Ground pin? With the label on top, is it the top or bottom pin? Thanks
Yes its the same thing, I tested mine with stock setup and a 3S 2200 mah and it was well within the 20amp limit.
Fantastic plane with a 2200 in the canopy, CG is perfect and is very planted. Throw on a 10x7 SF prop for an awesome sound and a bit of a speed boost!
hk have charged my cc for this but stil show unpaid in my account no live help no reply on hk help what should i do ................................................ it is now 24 hours since HK charged my account and left status as unpaid no lve help no reply to any of my several HELP requests in the support section
I have glued mine up with a single ring shaped peice of .25mm glued to the plastic inside the top of mount near motor and a similar ring at bulkhead side. then 4 lenghts of same wire glued to plastic frame from top to bottom coil this will provide tension as the motot tries to pull away from pland but will not significantly add to compression strength in the case of a crash. ps on my p51 i also hava carbon rod goung from the front of the battery stuck to foam at the bottom of the motor hole this
I have seen this plane and it has an artech 700Kv motor. Same as the one mounted in my Corsair, this motor can handle a 3 blade 11x6 without even get warm. However I would recomend you a 11x6 two blade for better performance
Thank you i have flown with 11x6 and it has more thrust at lower throttle than 4 blade :},
Ps i am now in need of a motor mount like others i can not see 1 that will fit the mout is square with 35mm between holes on the bulkhead the closest i can see is HXT Alloy Composite Firewall Mount (85/36mm) and the Size at bulkhead is either 49hx40w or 49hx46w this is the smallest i can find thanks in advance for your Help
As I said in the previous answer I broke my motor mount in the maiden flight then I built a square 2mm balsa monunt with a 3mm plywood in the front for reinforce the engine - mount join. However the plane brand is Art Tech so you can find spare parts in other shops, see: w w w . rcwarbirds . co . www.link
.
If you go 2200mAh, it'll be too nose heavy (& screw up your CG), besides, a 2200 can't fit in the battery bay unless it's placed in the cockpit area - then it'll be a flying brick.
Your choice how you want to do it!
.
i fly mine on a 10x7 sf prop & 1550ma 30c rino battery and just slides into the fuse by angling it back as you feed it in is sits back towards the cockpit and balances spot on.fly for 7min at full throttle and 30% left in battery.
I have put my 2200 mah battery inside the fuse with the top of the batt (wire end) up against the front of the fusilage which leaves the con and bal plug poking down towards the silver bat cover..the rx is in the cockpit and the esc is above the battery ...Note when the wing is on the bat can not be removed....I charge the bat in the plane with a slow slow charger... I have static tested at varying throttle (70 at wot)using master airscrew 11x9 and a HXT Battery Monitor for 3S lipo. went for 15

got mine save and sound 7 days after placing order, packed really good but some decals where missing, the V F and C plus the pretty girl, guess i can make the letters but for the pretty girl i guess i will stick my daughter to the plane. about 45 min had it together. a trial balance with a 1300 3s 20c i had lying around shows you wood have to tie a house brick to aft end to balance it...now thats just poor design.. end part one

part two..i will locate battery in cockpit as others have done as this will put the battery right on the c o g ,so going up 2200mah should be possible for really long flights.. got to be happy with that.the plane is really pleasing on the eye made well and i am happy with it at this point, after all mods have been made and this classic plane flown i will give my flying impresions
