The HobbyKing Brushless P-51D Mustang comes ready to fly. All you need to include is your own radio, receiver and battery. Everything else is included. This is a mini version of a normal P-51D Mustang, Identical from the features but smaller in size. Orderd this lil bird from the USA wherehouse for a warbird gathering this weekend was suposto be here in 5 to 6 days but its now day 5 and it had not even been packed not cool guys not cool at all
This is just a 3 channel model,ailerons,elevator and speed control,could be quite easily modified to have a rudder if you wish.Flaps would not be a good idea as this model does not have an undercarriage so would get damaged if used for landing.
This plane is made of white foam EPS. So long as you don't plow the plane into the ground, trees, or telephone poles/wires the plane can take some bouncing w/o damage. If you do, the foam is easy fix with foam-friendly CA.
Yes, the wingspan should have been listed as 750mm, and the body length 610mm - the above specs got them reversed. (I actually went and measured my model :) )
Uploaded Manual
Just uploaded the manual from ArtTech...shows decal placement and CG location, although 8.25 is probably a good starting point for the first flights.
Where can I find a replacement canopy for this plane? Mine fell off in flight an I couldn't find it.

Originally this airplane comes with a battery 2s from 800 to 1000 mAh. if it can fit a 3s 2200 mAH battery 20 C but the engine must be changed for the engine TowerPro Brushless Outrunner 2409-12T and the ESC by one 30-A for your proper function. Not is recommend using this battery of 2200 mAh with the original engine in this airplane because it can cause overheating and damage of engine. and ESC.[from: carorba]
This looks just like the alpha models p-51 that sells for almost twice this price on other sites. You might have to wait a little longer with hobby king but hopefully the new USA warehouse will help me get things quicker. If it had rudder control I might buy it.

I purchased this plane from US warehouse. It arrived quickly and safely along with the batteries I ordered. The plane is nice looking, and has "skid plates" to land in the grass rather than landing gear. Magnetic latch for the canopy makes battery insertion easy. Upon hooking up the "Watt's Up" monitor, the motor uses more than 12 watts on the ground, but the plane includes only a 10 watt ESC. I will be switching ESC soon, but the cowl will have to be removed to get to the motor mount, first. The foam is low-density "cooler" foam, but holds up to foam safe CA and gorilla glue. I have added rudder servo and hinges for full 4 channel flying. Simply remove elevator servo, cut a space for it with an exacto, then cut a space for the rudder servo. Trim the servo horns so they don't interfere with each other, and you're good to go. I fashioned a z-bend control rod from a piece of piano wire, and added a dubro micro control horn to the rudder. A hot nail or paperclip goes through the foam quickly to make an exit for the control rod, as well as for enlarging the battery tray.
Just got mine and it shipped from Lakewood, Wa so 1 day shipping to West coast. It arrived in almost perfect shape with a few small marks in the foam and the H-stab slightly off level. Motor has more pull than I thought it would and it will pull unlimited vertical. Esc is weak though so I wouldnt use full throttle for extended periods. Servos are ok as one works great the other has more pull one way. I pulled out the elevator servo and turned it sideways and added a rudder servo in the extra space right next to it.

Ordered one last month. Packaged item came in fast...7 days via USPS. Delivered all the way to Guam arriving in excellent condition. Will order my next model soon. Flying the P-51 is just great, will upgrade with higher kv motor and esc. This HK scale is simply awesome. USA warehouse should stock on more HK products!
