I just got my zippy in the mail with a low voltage alarm, why is it that within a minutes of use on my Rx the alarm goes off indicating a low voltage less than 3.2V per cell im guessing. I connect it to the charge and within 5 mins its charged again and we repeat the cycle. Meter shows I think it was 3.3-3.48V per cell when charged.Is this a bad zippy ? alarm works just fine on my other packs
Are your other packs LiFePO4 or straight LiPo? A fully charged LiFePO4 should reach 3.6V per cell whereas a LiPo hits 4.2V per cell. What voltage does the Rx alarm go on at?
I have 2 packs, one for my Tx which is a LiPo and then the Rx which is the zippy LiFePO4. The charger I have is the Turnigy C3 compact charger, blue one that comes with 110V wall plug sold on this site. Thanks for pointing that out to me, maybe the charger isn't for LiFePO4 ??
The charger most definitely isn't for LiFePO4, but it *should* still charge them. LiFePO4 batteries can take some abuse you wouldn't otherwise subject a LiPo battery to (in this case over charging), so you can use a LiPo charger to charge them (I have been for months without issue).
As for your problem, your LiFePO4 battery isn't fully charging. It could be the charger or it could be the battery itself. If you have a friend in the hobby (or even your LHS), try their charger to see if this battery will charge. If not, then the battery is bad. If it does charge, then your charger is cutting off charging before its full (the voltage of a LiFePO4 battery spikes very quickly when it reaches the end of charge). Try plugging your voltmeter into the battery while its charging so you can monitor voltage. That might give you a better picture of whats happening while it nears the end of its charge cycle.

I would like to use this battery as a back up to power my Eagle Tree OSD via the back up battery harness. Does anyone know if this would be a suitable back up battery for this OSD? Or should I go with something that has a bit more mAh? I have a Nano-Tech 2c 1000 in route from china! Slow boat of course, thanks everyone!
Absolutly. 700Mah in a reciever will last a long time and a slight increase of voltage provided with this pack will give faser and more powerful servo action. Since revievers do not have low voltage cut off please make certain you do not fully dischage the pack. Its recomened you change the pack up after 3 hours of use depending on the number of servos your using.
This could be used with a 9X but you will need to modify the circuit board in order to avoid getting the low voltage alarm. There is actually a guy on the internet who has a site that describes this modification quite nicely. I personally have used the 3S 800mAh LiPo Zippy packs in my 9X and it works without any issues. You do need to make a simple JST to JST XH cable to run in this fashion. I hope this helps you out.
i bought the zippy liFe 1800 and zippy lipo 2800 and both fit my turnigy 9x perfect. just change the connector. i changed mine to jst. long lasting and so much better. don't have to buy AA batteries. plus you can fast charge the liFe batteries and no damage to the cells. incredible battery.
Does any one think this would be a suitable upgrade for a Turnigy 9X V1 and V2 Tx as compared to Nimh, or would the Low Self Discharge AA batteries out perform this.
1. Does this pack have protection circuitry so that it can be charged with the transmitter charger?
2. This capacity makes a good small glider receiver pack for $pektrum, higher voltage, less voltage sag under load, fuel gauging, low self-discharge, no fires. Why don't you market it that way HK?
Yo should take into account that the Lipo is going to hold up its voltage for a great deal longer than the same in a metalHydride battery so allthough it is only 700 it will most probaly out perform the NMH battery even though its 2000mah as they drop their voltage several times faster than a Lipo Battery "No more charging each time out" my 1450mah Lipo lasts over a week of flying for an hour each day before I have to charge it So you would probaly find that the 700 will last for a week and that

this battery is more than great i used it to power 2 std metal gear servos and 2 std servos, it was enough for 3 days of flights 3 times each, and i was reacharging it to be in the safe side !!

I bought 8 of these, balance charged and cycle all of them. They cycled between 695 to 735 mahs. For less than thee dollars you can't beat them. At about two ounces each they are the perfect replacement for those old heavy NiCad and NiMH packs. LiFE is definitely the way to go without having to worry about a regulator. Thanks again HK

Love this battery. They power my servos with out the brown out that is possible with nicd batteries. You will need to charge with life settings on your charger. These batteries are much lighter than nicds and produce a more energy to the servos.
