This is one big foam Warbird! Being Plug N Fly it is a fast build model packed with enough features and scale detail to make this one bird you will be proud to own.
Made from EPO foam, this model is practical despite its size, a one peice removable wing makes for easy transport, even the tail can be un-screwed if desired. The pre-fitted servos and electric retracts are all pre-labelled making field assembly fast and simple. It uses the kind of 4s packs that are becoming very common now on large foamies, chances are, you already have a few in your flightbox. The Pre-Fitted motor has plenty of power for those scale Warbird aerobatics or just straffing your flying field!
Scale detail is just superb, as are the pre-applied decals, features include pre-installed electric retracts/tailwheel, there is the very scale 4 bladed prop & spinner, navigation lights, adjustable radiator outlet, drop tanks, moulded exhaust stubs and guns. The flaps keep the landing speed right down, this model has no nasty Warbird tip stall tendencies, it just floats in like a trainer. should be placed up front where strap is by the small round hole in the plywood.make sure you put canopy on her and turn her over to check center of gravity.you may need to move it some forward or backwards.remember it should be a little nose heavy rather than tail heavy.look at the pic on the hk site of this plane you will see the strap and small and big round holes in the plywood i am talking about

I received this beautiful model (I live in Italy!) and I'm very happy of it but I don't understand how can connnect the pre fitted motor to the esc?wires are very short so I don't know I can I do to properly connect them!!!! Please could someone help me please???? Is it necessary to cut the model and extract the motor then connect it to the esc?I hope no!!!!

What I did was take the cowling off, pull the motor wires out in front, feed the ESC wires wires from the inside, to the front where the cowl was, make the connections, and feed the wiring back through the hole. Put the cowl back on, put the spinner back and your prop and you should be good to go. Hope that helps!

Edmir O like wow. Well most guys are too small not too big. So your 5000 is it a 4s or 3s. If it is a 5s or 6s for get it. A 3s will be fine. 4s is ok she is a little tail heavy with the normal battery. Just check C of G and it will be fine. Also watch you landing speed!!. I hope this helps

Guilherme here are some retracts-if they fit. DSR-46TW Electric Retract Set - Models up to 3.6kg or you can repair it Shock absorbing landing gear. 5mm unfortunately I think you will have some trouble finding original ones,. :(

all hobbys are like this-all you do you must emprovise, use parts that are available,.. Not so long ago you couldn't get any parts at all, all was custom made by each individual,..Here you have almost everything, only limit is money and imagination. I think that is worth to install alu. retracts with suspension,..Nice plane good undercarige. hope you will resolve your problem.

A falta de peç*as de reposiç*ã*o e a baixa robustez do trem de pouso me deixam em dú*vida se valeria pena comprar ele.Falta reposiç*ã*o para: asas, fuselagem, motor (pelo menos este acho que é* possí*vel achar um compatí*vel), esc (um de 80A para 4S resolve), retrateis, arame de acionamento da bequilha, horms, arame para os horms.
O que tem para ele é*: hé*lices (pedi mais dois conjuntos, mas tem 2 meses que está* fora de estoque), spiner, cauda (completa), a cabine.
Em realidade o custo benefí*cio é* ó*timo, mas se você* fizer um pouso bem ruim vai ter sé*rios problemas para fazer os reparos.
Tem mais de 14 anos que nã*o voava (bastante enferrujado). e por alguma razã*o que eu ainda nã*o compreendi o aviã*o está* puxando muito para a esquerda (para quem nã*o está* bem afiado isto é* um problema bem sé*rio), e foi assim que eu ferrei o trem de pouso (consegui reparar ele usado um outro de mesmas dimensõ*es aproveitando o microswitch de fim de curso que era compatí*vel).

Hello, I'm presently assembling this plane and I'm afraid. Who did really measure the prop size and pitch. From calculation this plane can not even take off. the speed will be something like 45km/H or 27mile/H. Or some parameters are wrong: KV of the motor or real pitch of the propeller. Please help

Hi Adriano you did'nt specify what ratings your 2 packs are...3s,2s? but still you can use this website *******scriptasylum****/rc_speed/lipo.html , should help you with the propper connection to get a 4s2p 14.8volts....ive joined 2 packs before and i just made a Y-harness or you can buy them here in hobbyking , ebay or local hobby shop. Hope this helps good luck!

Hi, how is the motor heat ? It's getting very hot in ground test for 2 minit ..no air coming as spiner blocking air totally ..I need to use 2 blad feeder , which size i should use ? What is the motor KV ?
One clevis for my P-51 was damaged. Where can I buy one other clevis for P-51D Gunfighter 1600mm? This airplane have clevis for 1.5mm steel rod and I am need more clevis for this airplane.
HK should realy more concern on customer relation and quality. On my plain the motor turns wrong direction and HK support was only friendly. Do you have a manual or do you know how to program it, if possible.
HI,if you pull out 2 of the three wires from the ESC,and change/put them back /change holes,in the oposite way,you will change the rotation of the engine.Its the same whatever wire you take and change.
Is there spare props available yet? I have looked, I'm hoping I missed them.
I'm not good at prop sizes yet, but what would work in a 3 blade or 2 blade.

Hi, is it possible to make an hand launch whithout any problem? Is it fast, I had the other p51 from hk,not the smallest one, not so big as this one and the flight was too slow whith the stock set up. Tks for the answer.
The propeller is not efficient. The maximum current draw with the 16x6 4-blade propeller, 4-cell Lipo was 54A and RPM was 4500. So I replaced the propeller with APC 16x12 2-blade, and the maximum current was 40A and RPM was 5100 and it is still slow. Anyone tried 5-6 cell?
Will it be available in the DE Warehouse ?
If yes someone knows when ?

This was my first foray into large foam aircraft, and although not utterly disappointed, I must say that I was not pleased with many of the "features" of this aircraft. Granted, given it's low price (under $160) for a 1600mm wingspan plane, perhaps I set my expectations too high - which is why I'm giving it 4* for value. Additionally, the detailing on the plane itself, paint, decals and sturdy construction of the firewall and internal battery/servo tray were very well done, thus 4* for quality.
However my overall rating of 3* is due to the following deficiencies that need attention on future iterations:
1. Propeller & prop mount come unbalanced. Constructing as shipped (in which the prop and blades are already assembled for you), results in a terrible vibration that nearly tears the firewall out of the fuselage at only 50pcnt throttle. Try as I might for 2 days, i could not get the prop & mount to balance, so I've had to replace with my own 2 and 3 blade MAS prop alternatives.
2. Stock wing retracts are horrible. Cycling them the FIRST time after assembly - had the left one CATCHING FIRE, while the right one functioned once before burning out. Seriously HK - get this fixed. I had heard of retract issues before purchasing this plane, so had actually ordered the larger 514 retracts at the same time. Took a couple hours to get the gear mounted for the maiden flight, but ce

Wow i recieved this beautiful mustang & cant believe the detail & improvments on the monster mustang which i have had as well 3 infact & this one by far trumps it in speed & performance i.e no tip stalling & bad CG.
The gunfighter flies extremely well with its 4 bladad prop even in strong wind. im runnin 2x 7.4 3000mah turnigy packs joined but will try a 18.4volt pack in its next flight just to see the power differance.
The only thing i can fault with it is the blasted retracts both have been replaced within 10 lands as it only takes 1 ordinary grass landing & they are gone broken at the plastic bracket!! this is why my overall rating has to be 4 stars.

I received the P51 and I was pleasantly surprised, as the high-end model has a fantastic finish, and also the luxury of being a semimaqueta details, this model comes with everything you possess is a luxury, I I recommend to everyone, but I must say I have not even flown, so when you fly will say that this is and how it behaves in flight, besides being very nice and very good finish and rich details.

I own this Starmax P-51 since 3 months, and have about 3 hours of flight with it. It's a crownd magnet, both on ground and in the air. Fly very easy and quite fast. Hold moderate wind as well. The only complaints are the weak retracts whose electronic mecanisme is undersized but you can change for HKD-514 available here.
This plane is a must to have !

Very nice airplane, well built and beautiful. The structure is strong and in the same time not heavy. The retracts are not very strong but it is enough. Have lights and all the cables.... very nice airplane....let´s try it in the air....
