NTM Prop Drive motors are rock-solid performance outrunners with tight windings, quality bearings, correctly rated magnets, balanced stator and flux rings plus they are QC checked at 14 points, from material processing all the way through to final dyno test.
Because we design and build these motors completely in-house (from 3D/2D drawing to materials sourcing, machining, balancing, final assembly and dyno) we can completely control production and ensure product consistency from design right through to shipping the product to you. The removal of middle-men has meant we can drive better value to the market and retail these motors at factory(our) prices! All performance figures are real and tested on our own motor dynos. Our QC engineers check and balance each motor before shipping to the HobbyKing.com warehouse.
Stupid question but does this come with the female bullet connectors as well. I have gotten motors that have the male but not the female and just wanted the make sure. Thanks.
This motor, no. Buy the turnigy ty-p1 ESCs. I use four on my quad, thy co with bullets do motor plugsstraightnin. You will need to change the xt-60 at the other end of the ESCs though. But sit east it's only one end.
That's big for a 1200kv, try the recommended 7x6 ,, 8x4 or 8x6 props. If you have a wattmeter, you can try it while monitoring the current and power consumption of the motor, if it goes over the max rated current which is 18A, it will overheat the motor and probably the ESC.
Shimon. That prop would be on the high end of the limit for this motor. In fact it is not recommended by HK. but I have used it and I can tell you that with a 2200-3300 mah lipo the flight times are short and the motors get very warm. This motor is better suited for and performs best with an 8x5 or 9x4.7 on 3s.
Are these better for quads than the 26-28 1350kv 320 watt ntm? I see alot of people using 750kv motors for quads. I thought higher kv was better? i am using 30 amp esc with 3s battery. carrying gopro using 8 in props.
Thank Tommy
Higher kv is better for acro flying as you get more response from your multirotor. Lower kv is for heavy lifting, you can use larger prop for efficiency.
You could run them in Parallel, to get the equiv of a 4S 8000mAh battery, but I wouldn't run them in series. The motors are rated ot 4S, so that wont be a problem. The ESC's would need to be matched, so using a mix of 25 and 30A escs wouldn't be recommended. It would fly, just not very well, and would be a handful to control.
I have only (2) 25a ESC's the rest are 30's. Your saying it would be unstable even with the NAZA M? The reason I ask is because I currently fly the 550 now with (2)3s 4000's just fine? Please advise and thank you for the answer.
You're flying the 550 on unmatched esc's?
Any decent flight controller will compensate but some of the esc's will work harder than others, and there will be less 'headroom' for power increase that the FC may request.
You wouldn't use mismatched motors, so why use mismatched esc's?.
I second that! Dif. ECS'S. Dif firmware. Dif. Refresh rates and throttle response. May fly ok but chances are you're going to have little problems that lead to big crashes.
Not necessarily. You can make your own mount and just buy the collet adapter. But this is convenient mostly for flying wings, all the rest are better with accessory pack. And yes, no accessories included, if that's what you were asking about.
for my 1st question.. do u mean they don't even come with a shaft ?
am planning to put this on my quad design about 1.8kg .. do u think its a good idea ?
It won't give the aerobatic feel, but would fly well. I would go for a bigger motors, as I like to go crazy sometimes, but that's my personal preference. Of course it comes with the shaft - it comes exactly like you see it on product photo, but nothing else is included.
My personal preference for your config would be NTM3530-1100 (enter to product search) - it's cheaper and suites better for your AUW, also it has thicker shaft which is harder to bend. I estimate the current a bit below 30A with 11x4.5, so you're safe with 30A ESCs. if you use the HAL frame, then you can get away without the accessories pack - just mount it below the plate so that the shaft protrudes up and install collet adapter (should be bought separately) onto the shaft. The drawback - propeller would move very close to the boom, increasing the noise. Also, this solution makes no sense in money economy - the collet is more expensive, than bolt-on adapter of the accessories pack. And one more thought - the accessories pack for 28 mm series is on backorder, so this 35 mm series motor is better because you won't have to wait.
It should be fine with a 20A or higher ESC. You might run it a little hot though, But for better performance check out the NTM 28-26 1000kv. Same size, just made for bigger props :)
the NTM 28-26 1000kv recommends using a 9 inch prop. i use a 10x4.5 with absolutely no problems. motor is warm to cold. but using a 10x4.5 will be too much for this motor. guarantee
Dear Hobby King, Please sell C-clips for shaft replacements for these motors!!! It would be very great it get a few ecspically when one goes flying across the room and you can't find it.
I received this, but the shaft goes out the same way where the mount is. So how to mount this on an quad? The shaft will point down.
Usignerte the Ht-fpv frame.
Do i need to take the shaft out and reverse it?
Hello, I bought six of these for my Y6 Scorpion and as a newbie, I didnt realize that the shafts need to be reversed. So instead with a little ingenuity. I sealed the motor really good, and just used a dermal to cut the shafts down far enough to be short now. I have test fitted them and they work great now. Im also not to worried about balance yet being a newbie. Im more into just having fun with it. I am also going to order spare motors but the short shaft ones next time.
Hi lads.
Just finished my first quad and noticed that 1st motor (connected to M1 port in KK2) spins much slower then others. I've calibrated range using my turnigy 9x radio and they all start at the same time....
But any motor connected to M1 port spins so slow. Any idea what that might be ??!!! Red wires were disconnected on esc 2-4 (M2, M3 and M4).
Quad specs:
- KK2 board
- NTM 28-26A 1200kv / 250w
- Turnigy plush 30a esc (stock firmware)
Escs has 5inch ish extension on motor side.
Please help.
Cheers
Seb
Is it possible to move the shaft so that it hangs out the can end rather than the mount end? Reason I ask is I wish to mount a Prop Saver on it, and the "accessory pack" isn't suitable for mounting a prop saver.
I see it uses a grub screw to hold the shaft in place, is that pressing on a flattened section of shaft? Or just on the rounded surface?
Actually just answered the second half myself, the replacement shaft has a flat spot and a groove on the other end for an E-Clip. Is it still possible to reverse the shaft's direction? Or is it possible to mount the motor such that a Prop-saver can still be used?
The shaft can be removed and reversed. If it needs a flat spot for the grub screw you can make one using a small file or a Dremel. However, people do not often use prop savers on motors and props of this size. I suggest that you reconsider that idea.
As you need a 10 to 11 inch prop for the extra 260, I will recommend the NTM 3530 1100kv it will be closer match to the recommended Axi motor and will fly really well.
I'm Looking at two different motors
Not sure if I should get the 1200kv or the 1350kv I would like power but I would like longer flight timefor video Photography platform.
Using 9x4.7 with 3S, you might be stepping on the 18A limit of this motor. On 4S, it surely is a disaster. 8x6E - 11.1v - 145w - 13A. If I were you, I'd get a watt-meter before trying it out.
No this motor is not a good fit for the Bixler 2. I just purchased the Bixler 2 and this motor. Does not fit without making a custom motor mount out of wood or metal. The wires are on the front near the shaft which means you cannot mount the motor to the existing factory motor mount.
The shaft comes out the mounting side of the motor. If the shaft is reversible then this motor would work great with the bixler 2. I am trying to find out if reversing the shaft is possible.
I am awaiting my order to arrive, but every major forum I know of has at least one thread about poor quality of NTM motors. Major issues are bad bearings and poor balancing, although rewinding them is often recommended too. Hobby King need to seriously consider if they want to keep selling NTM motors and alienating their customers. At least fire the guy who does QC if you are going to write about the high levels of QC in the product description because its clearly false advertising.
Agreed, but you can expect that it is both fit for purpose and fit for use and at least meets the product description (has been quality controlled). People are finding that one or more motors in an order either don't work or immediately need the bearings replaced. Truly unlucky individuals have their $500 worth of quad fall out of the air on the second flight when they should last at least a few hundred hours before needing replacement. Anyway, I'm just hoping that the quality control issues improve, they had a good name and seem to have dropped the ball.
Felix, I agree, I even knew better. Bought 6 for a hex but currently flying a quad. A motor siezed at a low altitude and I replaced it with a "spare" (so much for the hex soon)because I can't get replacement bearings (been waiting over a month now), new motor had 2 flights on it when at 100 ft altitude I heard the motor grinding, turned to fly back when sever vibration shook the battery loose and quad fell out of the sky. Luckily it hit soft earth, but it could have been destroyed if I had been over pavement. Hope people are haveing better luck finding replacement bearings than I am....
Hi! I bought 4 of this and i'm very sad with theses motors. 1 of them had can wobbling- it was nedded to balance on lathe. And all of them have glue spread inside can making almost impossible to balance theses motors! Can someone give ideas how to balanced these so vibrating motors? Thanks!
And you right Neash! Indeed in the other 3 motors i notice that. But as this one balanced on lathe to cut wobbling make then needed to clean all glue and re-balance motor. But in any way i recomend to re-balance all motors because even with that glue they are not at 100% free of inbalance!

1 thumbs up!
I have received 4 motors and I have order 4 more.
WIth a small prop you can use 4cells for extra speed.
My multiWIIcopter has less torque but the fly speed is awesome.
In 3 sec alt. 40Meters.
Now I want try Octa for more torque with the same speed.
I can't wait to rebuild the Wiicopter with more then 6kg lift.
8x3.5 Prop 4s Full throttle 245watt Torque 975 grams
Motor is wellmade and spins very stable.
The shaft is very hard.
Good purchase for prototypes models for test flight.
Buy 4 of this motor for the price of one vendor expansive motors.
Excelente motor, uso em um tucano de isopor de 60cm,uso bateria de 1300 mah, tendo peso máximo 500 grs. Este empurra até 800 a 900 grs.

Very good motor !!
Bought one for a zaggy 1400mm wingspan. Has overpower, run smooth, silent, very small and economic.
As soon they stock it up, i´ll buy 2 more just to spare them.
Awesome motor !
Ps. Just don´t forget to buy the propeler adapter. Comes nothing but the motor in a plastic bag. Not even the screws.
Still a good choice.
