This would be a nice EDF motor if it could handle 4S. Has anyone tried it in a Wemotec Minifan or one of the HK 70mm fans?

Well I bought one of these. Despite what the above specifications say (2s!?!) I am going to run it at 4S in one of the new Change Sun 70mm 10 blade EDFs and see how it goes. Given with weight of this unit I am sure it can handle 700W-800W or so.

Okay, there are no cooling holes on this series of motor - which explains why they are in the car section :)
I'm looking at opening it up and perhaps drilling some cooling holes in the front and back.

I've put the motor in an RCLander alloy case and tightly wrapped aluminum foil around the motor and applied thermal paste. The idea is to let the EDF Housing provide the cooling by acting as a massive heatsink.
I've test run the motor on 3S and it's drawing about 28A. The motor and housing remains cool. 4S should be no worries. I am satisfied but you may as well buy one of the previously units as it cost me more in the end to do it this way.
However this series of inrunner motors are certainly useable as EDF motors. HK should make ventilated versions though.

This motor is the exact same size as the in the Komet ME-163 except* shaft in Komet is 3mm, and Komet runs with a 4S. I use GWS's 28mm, blue anodized, alum heat sink to keep it cool.
