any idea on when they will get these in stock again?

Soon,I hope I need a couple more!

There are plenty of the 25C version at the USA warehouse if you don't need a hardpack. In my case I can pass on the extra $15 to my client, worth it to get a job done on time.

I sent him this message: You sir are an A$$HOLE for selling these at almost 4 TIMES their price! And for taking up stock that other GOOD people sometimes wait months for. Last year I had to wait 3 months for my paid order for 24 of these to ship out. It was for an ebike project that I worked on for 2 years, and the end game of the build was delayed that long......Bu11$hit! I thought about doing what your doing as I'm sure many have, but we're not for a reason.. I hope you grow a conscience! You are part of the American PROBLEM! Idiot A$$HOLE...
 gitech001 76 points
He responded as follows: CHA CHING..... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Why don' t you buy some at $25 and sell them back on ebay for $25 then... dumb ass - als-toybarn-usa MY RESPONSE: WOW, did you read that the real problem is other people having to wait months for paid orders? Are you really that cold? Thanks for your response, let the games begin. I and hundreds to thousands of others will now begin to reveal you for who you really are in every forum and by other any other means...I know who you are already! The internet is on to you *) ***SO PEOPLE do your part and destroy this butt head.***

He responded again as follows: It doesn't matter... my target customers are NOT on RCTECH or other forums.. Go spend some more time bitching in the forums... no harm to me. - als-toybarn-usa MY RESPONSE: You are an "American". That is for sure! So am I, but "not like you". You must be one of those hateful, hurtful, selfish, hypocritical christian republicans, full of cognitive dissonance. I pity you. ***SO PEOPLE do your part and destroy this butt head.***

What should I charge these at? 2A or 5A?
 Turbotre 72 points
2A will take forever,5A will take over an hour if it is completely discharged. You can charger at a higher rate,if your charger can handle it.
 Alexander 5 points
I have the Quattro charger from here, as well as the 540W Power Supply. So you are saying that I should definetly use 5A on all channels then? 7.5 would be the limit of the power supply...
 Turbotre 72 points
5A will work good,if you're not in a big hurry. The last 20% of charge, takes almost as long as the first 80%.I usually charge a pair of them at 10A.

I have purchased 36 of this packs. The vast majority of them balance fine, and I'm still waiting to use the majority of them on a big project. I picked out the obvious two duds that I couldn't balance charge just to play around with, and I'm blown away even by them. I threw them on a 24v scooter, overvolted it to 29.6v nominal... and it drives a 200 pound load at a brisk pace.
 Jayls5 10 points
Here's a video of the "bad" batteries still being awesome: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UB-wD62kRw4

Has anyone actually tested and verified its 20C constant (continous) discharge claim? In other words, completely discharge a fully charged pack in 3 mins?
 Koo29 230 points
It is actually 30C continuous :o A member at rcgroups tested this battery with his powerlab and concluded that it really was 30C. So to answer your question, it is at least 20C.

Turnigy seems to rate the battries accurate, I have had a few and all live up to said mah and c rate, just remember to take care charging them and dont discharge them too low.
jla12  3 points - 8/2/2012

Does anybody know how many cycles does turnigy batteries get? This is the life span with proper handling at a 3.75min 4.1 max discharge/charge. What have you heard and your experiences with the life this or any other lipo.
 froghunter641 2 points
I ORDERED 4 OF THESE AND WOULD RECOMMED THESE. GREAT PRICE AND QUALITY! SORRY,DON'T COUNT CYCLES, UP TO 20 CYCLES NOW.
 zanek 95 points
I have had some of my Turnigy batts for probably 100 cycles. They are still going strong. I have had other brand batteries that are 3-4x the price and last up to 150 cycles.
 Terrence 1 points
What normally kills the batteries and drastically shortens the life cycle is running the battery until your cell(s) drop below the 3.7v mark. I try to keep the cells at about 3.9v to be safe. I set a timer on my watch, drive normally, then check the cells at 5, 10, 15 minutes and check the voltage. When I hit the 3.9v mark, I switch out the battery, let the other one cool, and get back on track. The pricing is economical so get a couple of batteries cycle them and you can pretty much run all
 Sam77 8 points
Life cycle, in my experience, depends upon how well you use/abuse the pack. Utilize your onboard voltage cutoffs for LiPos and use a good balancing charger (I use a Triton 2 EQ charger and it lets me monitor individual cell voltage). With that said, I have several Turnigy soft side LiPos for my planes and they have lasted quite a long time. I have no reason to expect any less from these hard packs I've bought.
 Spencer! 1 points
around 100 plus as a low estimate
 frogs 161 points
If you use a balance charger and keep the packs within the voltage you indicated you can expect 250 charge cycles or more.
 IwannaTT 3 points
If balanced and lipo cutoff is used, they will last as long as any top dollar lipo. If they are ran down too low multiple times their life will be much shorter..sorry there isn't an exact number of cycles
@rcher  31 points - 7/24/2012

would this battery work with a 70 ESC?
 Jacob 1 points
Yes, I am running a 40 amp Esc so that is more than overkill.
 frogs 161 points
yes, I use with a 100 amp esc.
 froghunter641 2 points
I USE THESE BATTERIES IN PLANES WITH 70 HV ESC, IN SERIES FOR 29.6 VOLTS!
 zanek 95 points
I have it in a system that pulls 20 amps constant and is rated for 220amps peak and it is fine
 Spencer! 1 points
Yes Easily, plenty of amps
 James 1 points
I run it with an 80 A ESC It has lots of power and raises the front end of my 4wd 1/8 scale buggy!! VERY GOOD BATTERY!!!
 Michael 1 points
i cant say that i like ...the battery i got had a dead cell so im waiting for hobbyking to do somthing about so right now im unsatisfied with the product..
wkruger  2 points - 7/12/2012

I've just started running these in my HK hexacopter. They seem GREAT so far, but how low do you guys typically run these down before re-charging? I have an alarm that goes off at 14.8, 13.6, and 13.2 volts...which one should I pay attentio to?

Thanks!
 Joesabre 10 points
I would use the 13.2 volt alarm, typically you would use a voltage cutoff of 3.0 volts per cell.

 yann 1 points
im verry desapointed ....more than 2 week and is not shipped yet ..and they have in stock more than10 ...i dont understand what the joke ,but they lost a good costumer !!!
 Jacob 1 points
exactly, full juice is 3.7v per cell
 frogs 161 points
If you want the most charge cycles out of your batteries listen to the 14.8 volt allarm.
 renegadebigdog 21 points
always keep it above 3.2 v per cell and it'll last forever.
 Spencer! 1 points
12.0 volts is the minimum and a good guideline
 frogs 161 points
I would also say stay above 14.8 volts to get more cycles out of the batteries.
badgolfer  1 points - 6/27/2012

If I run three Turnigy 5.0, 5000mah batterys in series, where does the 2 groups of wires go connect? It has a black and red which i assume goes to the contoller on my electric bike and the 5 wire connection which I assume hooks to the charger. Thanks
 jla12 3 points
the red and black wires are the power cables that hooks up to the motor and also your charger. Don't charge your batteries in a series. You charge the batteries in parallel instead. To run the motor you can hook the batteries in series ,but not when charging. The 5 wire connection is the balance plug, it makes all the cells in the pack equal to each other when you charge.
 SCOOTAH! 2 points
The red and black wires are the discharge wires that connect to the controller. The 5 wire cable from each battery is the balance wire that connects to each individual cell. You can buy a charger that charges the battery through the balance plug for an easier setup but most chargers also need the red and black wire hooked up to them too. I use the $25 hextronik hx8080 charger for these batteries for a four-hour charger per pack. I actually bought two chargers so I can charge both packs at the same time!
 frogs 161 points
If you want to find out more on using lithium batteries go to instructables**** and search The New and Improved Brushless Electric Scooter Power System Guide. I found the post to be very helpful.
badgolfer  1 points - 6/26/2012

How do I connect three turnigy 5.0 5000mah batterys to make one 48 volt battery for an electric bike? Thanks
 al 19 points
You connect them in series [esc ] <> [bat ][bat-] <> [bat ][bat-] <> [bat ][bat-] <> [esc-]
 al 19 points
It doesn't show the plus sign [ ]
 al 19 points
Like this target=_blank>
 jla12 3 points
use the connectors already on the batteries main power line to connect them. connect the positive to the negative than that negative to another positive.
 SCOOTAH! 2 points
You can cut the red housing to separate the red wire from the black wire if you want. So you connect the black wire from battery A to the red wire from battery B. Then the black wire from battery B is connected to the red wire from battery C. So you will get the 12s 48 volts using the red wire from battery A and the black wire from battery C. Hope this helps.
 renegadebigdog 21 points
create a harness for that and then you can still charge them normally.
turbodriven  16 points - 6/13/2012

Any idea on how much weight savings you'd gain by removing the hard case on these? For the price, I'm wondering if it's worth the risk of cracking these open to save the weight.
 Edward 1 points
these packs are light already, it will become very delicate if you remove the case. your risk of a fire is almost guaranteed, if running inside a car.
 Jon 1 points
The weight savings would not be worth the hassle of splitting the plastic case and risking damaging one of the cells.
 Andrew 8 points
the wieght is not enough to worry about....just like in a real car you have to remove 1000 pounds to gain a second...at least in drag racing...but i run this battery and its not worth the risk to remove the hard case
 turbodriven 16 points
I think everyone is missing the point here. I am using this in an FPV airplane application, not car. So even 2oz. might be enough to help.
 Koo29 230 points
Hey turbo, I completely get your point but I don't think removing the case is worth the effort. If you check the 5000mah 4s battery just below this, the weight (not the shipping one) is claimed to be 536 grams. On this one, its 528 lol. I don't know how they make that happen but really not worth the time
 renegadebigdog 21 points
If you remove it from the case(voiding the warranty) I would shrink wrap it. but they must have a similar battery you can purchase for it without the case.
mikeyrc  7 points - 3/7/2012

No question, just wanna say AHHHHHH! LOL. As I am sitting here hoping everyday that I see these in stock. Just missed out on the last time they were in. I shall continue to wait though, cause for the price and quality of Turnigy, can't see myself ever buying other brands.

Is this price a mistake? It's just about the same price as an equivalent 2s pack.
 Rokcster 169 points
No mistake. I just got a pair three days ago. I can't say how good they are yet because I have not tried them yet. But I can say I have 8 of the same 4s Turnigy hardcase 30c batteries, they are great!!! I use them in a high current boat application and they are better than other 40c batteries I've used. They consistently take 5500mah when charging. They are Under rated. Such a deal! Rokcster

 mike123141 260 points
Rokcster have you gone out to try these 20C packs as of yet? If so, what do you think?
 Rokcster 169 points
Sorry to say I have not used them yet as my boat motor's bearings need replacing. (Castle 1518 1Y 1800kv) Probably be another 7-10 days before it's fixed. I also have 6 pairs of the same Turnigy 20c 2 cell 5000mah hard case batteries, and they are also outstanding performers. I run them in series in a UL1 hydro, Blackjack 26, and a Miss Geico catamaran, all running Aqua Craft 2030kv motors. I have GPS'D the black jack at 40.6 mph and the Geico is faster. I have great confidence in these batteries. Try me back next week and I'll tell you how they did. Rokcster
 mike123141 260 points
Hey guys, finally got my packs in (I got 4). Ran them in my 1/8th scale Thunder Tiger EB4 G3 Buggy. Got about 30 minutes of running in the grass at my park, doing speed runs and jumps on the hills. Motor was near the overheat mark, battery was warm, not hot. Considering that is the most draw this pack will see, I'm not too concerned. My Gens Ace packs are rated at 40C and they get hotter than these packs. The Turnigy packs had similar punch to the 40C packs, except for the last 2 minutes or so of runtime (right before the cutoff) and I was noticing a slower car, but considering these packs are 1/3rd of the price as the Gens Ace packs, I'm not complaining. So in general, these packs are fantastic for practice sessions, and probably even racing, except for the final 2 minutes of runtime (in which you'd probably want to just change the pack out anyway). Let me know if you guys have any questions about them!
 Chris 2 points
I just received two. almost perform as good as my gens ace 40c. both were balanced fine when i received them. if you dont need roar approval buy these!
 lance 3 points
I just got my first two of these in the mail (I have dozens of turnigy batteries, these are just the first 4s hardcases). they showed up balenced perfectly at 3.86 per cell, all cells on both batteries! I dont think I will ever buy a different brand, They are the best value out there. Hotbodies ve8/rc8/slash/revo/////etc.

I purchased this battery for my Traxxas Slash 4x4 with the Mamba Max Pro setup. I run a 18/54 setup and this battery makes it scream down the road. It's an excellent battery to use especially for bashing since its a hard case. For the price, you really can't go wrong.
