Turnigy® dlux SBEC ESCs have set a new bench mark in quality and performance. Each ESC uses a twin PCB design separating the motor power supply, MCU and SBEC. This design allows for optimum component layout on each PCB and provides the ideal configuration for heat dissipation and thermal efficiency. Both PCBs are enclosed in a full aluminum heat sink casing to ensure maximum heat dispersion. All Turnigy dlux ESCs can be programmed via a programing card or by transmitter. Clear and easy to understand instructions are included.

HK-Tech Rich helped me with a few user glitches. After my education, the dlux ESC is really nice. It has features not described well (or at all) in the User Manual. I've bought two 70 A's because the full throttle load turned out to just barely exceed 70 A for the 55's. "Normal start up:" sequence has to be followed precisely. If any restart or change is required, go back to beginning
I have six of these for my hex with SK3-4240 motors, Max 46A. So far I have been slightly airborne and all the motor tests and pre flight work has been promising. I also purchased the programming box (with data logging as indicated earlier in this blog) The programming box powers up but will not respond otherwise. I gave up and used my flight controller and radio to do the programming. I use arducopter APM2.5 mega. A minor crash during PID tuning turned out to brake the tiny connections to one of the capacitors. They seem to be vulnerable to physical damage so you may want to provide some additional support. I am thinking a glob of rubber cement to stop any movement that may fatigue the connections. I gave up trying to get any response from the programming box. Has anyone had any signs of life with this?
I just received 2 of these for a Mosquito. They have to run with an on-board nicad battery. Neither of them reacted to the programming box in the way shown on utube. Eventually they seemed to react to the box but differently from the utube video. I severed the middle wire as is usual for a non-BEC application. Then, nothing worked. Neither of them will fire the motors. Anybody have any ideas? Fred
Does this ESC use a linear BEC or a Swith Mode BEC. If it uses a linear BEC how does it overcome the loss in current to the servos when the input votage goes up?
"... motor does not come with bullet connectors...."
Ummm... I didn't say anything about a motor having bullet connectors. I stated the ESC had female bullet connectors on the 3 wires going TO the motor.
You are correc, sorry about that, but still they should be the same size because they are interchangable. If the motor runs in the wrong direction change any two connectors and it will run the other way.
Technically, yes but it would perform poorly because you can't easily program reverse or brake. I would recommend this esc as its designed for cars. www.link
I haven't been able to get it to work when I get to about 3/4 throttle it skips I tried the timing at all settings and the acceleration at all settings still the same thing I even tried a different motor and Eec still did the same.I have two setups for a twin
I have one of these which I am mounting in an old trainer that I am converting from glow to electric. Does anyone know if you can charge a 3 cell LiPo without disconecting this ESC from the battery pack? If so then I want to include a charging port in my converted Trainer to avoid removing the wing to get at the pack for charging.
Thanks Jason5001! That answer is consistent with safety warnings I have read and should have thought about. I'll charge the LiPo properly in its charging bag.
I can't get the esc to program with the radio. I would just buy the programming box but I need to change the brake and the programming box can't do that. I'm using a Futaba radio, is there a trick to making it work?
to change the brake on or off it is in the beginning of the ese music. just put the throttle full when you hear the music should be the second music you will hear pole the throttle back throttle should be off if not then it is the first one. it will go deep deep only it is a music tone. just look at the music sheett and follow it you do not need to read music to follow it. hope this helps
I was using the esc with a 72 mHz radio set for ppm. I tried it with my Futaba 2.4 Ghz radio and it worked just like it's supposed to. So, if you have a 72 mHz radio with ppm, then make sure you have a newer radio so that you can program it. Other than that little hiccup, everything works great.
will this esc work with a 500 class brushless helicopter motor like the "Turnigy Typhoon 500H Heli Motor 1800kv" or are "brushless esc's" different technologies?
mjbennett9 you need the dlux programming card.it's on this page on the acc section

1 thumbs up!
Larger and heaver (90g) than a Castle ice 50 amp ESC, installation maybe a challenge in smaller planes. Held up during a 10 minute maiden during a 100deg day controlling a .32 rimfire / 5cell in an over weight 60 sized nexStar trainer.

Controller is on the larger side and crowds the battery a bit. I have a set up with a 32 from HK and a 14X7 prop in a E-fite Albatross DVa 53". Also using a HK reciever with satalite. All testing show promise with a 3 or 4 cell lypo.
I am a little concerned about the BEC although HK claims a separate circuit and therefore no current loss as motor voltage goes up. I would normally use a seperate BEC that does not go through the ESC or a seperate receiver battery. I only gave it 4 crowns because I do not know the answers yet.
