The Nemesis is the most succesful Formula 1 air racer ever built, winning 47 out of 50 races and a string of championships in the 1990s. This superb looking aircraft is all the more remarkable as it is a "home built" design that was crafted from hand made moulds.
This fantastic looking Hobbyking Nemesis is superbly built and pre-covered, the end result is a strong but ultra-light airframe. The Nemesis has been designed for speed, which is reflected in not just the build quality but also the supplied hardware which needs to be able to cope with the stresses associated with a high performance model. The Nemesis is also very practical and features plug in wings, a massive battery access hatch, sturdy alloy under-carriage and rubber tyres. The covering is top notch and to finish off the aggressive yet graceful looks of this model, the glassfibre cowl and spats are superbly painted in a matching, high gloss finish.
As well as being a stunning model to look at, the Nemesis is a thrill to fly, precise, aerobatic and with the right set up, very, very fast! The great thing is that the build cost is low, especially for a model of this size, if you fancy a model that is looks fantastic, flies superbly and gets the adrenalin flowing, look no further!

Big problem with this airplane:nice plane, very good box,I did make it with CG ok.The motor was a KDA 3608 with 12x8,very powerful on 4S.The plane take off easy but then lost all control, took down violently and did get from left to right, did fall out and crash..Can anyone tell me what could be the reason off this?I does fly yet 40 years and never I had such a disastre. The radio was all ok.?????
c of g i move it forward 20mm that on the spar just off the fuz sides i set as instructions and just got it back on the ground in one piece just a lite elevator and it flick and spins should of check it out and not trusted the instructions but it is still in one piece and is flying OK now.
Its a tricky little basterd this plane. Got the same here. Just a little bit to little speed (or to much back wind) and it drops out of the sky bricklike without warning. Recovering from a stall is near impossible.
Thank you for this information,Tonino. So I know what's the problem.'Tricky little basterd' indeed. In 40 years flying I had never such a case. And I didn't expect it from this plane,but...
It happened to me after many lovely problemless high speed flights. A little to tight cornering, just a bit to less speed and some back wind and it was gone. Remembered me of my adventures with a extra 300 :-\. At least now we know why its says RACING on the plane. You have to keep the pedal to the metal *-)
All right-you did some problemless high speed flights.I did try one flight with the crash-result.It's as you say 'racing'.However,I don't take such a plane again.Good luck and thank you for this informations.
Hello, COG is not the problem. I fly even more backwards than the recommended COG! Problem is aileron sensitivity.. divideby 2 ! recommended settings and on top of that 50% dual rate. Now it is flying like a charm and very good controls. Enjoy flying.
Hello highflyers,
i have a SK aerodrive 50-45 500kv laying unemployed. Used this motor in the rainbow at 6S. Wonderfull. Now i'm considering a 6S set-up for this beauty. My question is: Does a 6S lipo 5000 40-50c fit in this plane?
Thanks for rep.
you have plenty of space on the center of gravity i used a D3548/4 with 3000 4S that gives me plenty of power but had to put the lipo as fare up front as i could of c of g
Hi Pavcon. It's tight, but no need to cut or mod. The cowling is prox 3-4 mm more up front. But fixing the cowling the normal way is no prob. I used the 4 standard "pillars" to mount the motor. Good luck!
A wonder indeed for i reduced the flying weight of the plane by 388 gram by cutting of screws or replace them for alloy screws/nuts (30 gr), ultra leight servo's (200 gr), carbon mainwingtube (100 gr), ultra leight wheels (20 gr), etc. The weight was about the same as a 4s 5000 setup. It flew lovely untill that moment. Wasn't to clear at the time either.
Hello Mathias, no problem for a 50 style motor there is plenty of space. However the length should be limited to 48 or you'll need to rework the motor mount. so the NTM_42_48_650KV_1295W is a better solution. I'm flying it with a NTM3548/900 4S3300 12X6 prop and it is really flying well but can have a little more power. Take also into consideration that the weight is a lot more than expected and you can have problem for balancing. Enjoy flying
Hello Pavcon happy flying year to you. should work without mods. have a check about size of the NTM 4248 (this one fit without modifications) and compare as you don't define the model of 5045. Enjoy Flying
Hello, I got the same problem. looking like the COG is too backwards. So I moved the batteries (there is plenty of space for that. It helps. Then I tried to move it a bit back on each take off. I noticed that the roll sensitivity is higher when the COG is going backwards. COG is not the problem. I fly even more backwards than the recommended COG now! Problem is aileron sensitivity. Divide by 2 the recommended settings and on top of that 50% dual rate. Now it is flying like a charm and very good controls. And don't forget: low rate at take off (seems crazy but that's it). high rate during flying Actual setting is NTM 4248 and 5S5000 with YEP 100A ESC. Propeller is 11x10 for speed and 13x4 for acro Enjoy flying.
Hello Pavcon, yes you get it! strange isn't it? I was afraid not to have enough throw on aileron to fly, but yes 25% is good for take off and flying and more if you want really nervous flying. If you can wait a bit, I can measire the displacement of the ailerons, but you have to wait till 19/01/2013 because I'm not home. Be careful when landing, don't forget to go down to low rate in the final branch.(when you should get the gear down if any - but not exist here) and don't try to fly to slow. depends of the weight of the plane. Test the stall speed during the first flight just after you trim it. So you figure out what's the minimum speed needed to fly. Enjoy flying
Could be!! I've seen some ones flying with 6S 5000 and a 280g motor. So the flying wheigth is supposed to be around 3.2kg. Mine is flying at 2.65kg and the minimum flying speed is about 25km/h. So, no panic Let me know after the first fly. I'm sure you will enjoy it a lot. Check the correct propeller depending on what you intend to do during the flight. Don't forget to take some batteries with you as you will be happy to have more to fly. What's the temperature in your country? I expect -5°*C during the weekend, so no flying :-(
Hello Bert, forget completely about a hand launch. Kellyann is crazy. Or she does not have such plane.Better find a country road and take off from there. The minimum speed is to high to hand launch and it is not easy to take in hand for launching. Next is vertical launch but then the needed power is a lot higher. Enjoy flying.

I am not sure about the pack. Maybe 4s 4000 or 5s 4000
Hi, the plane is great. I ordered a bigger motor. I keep the other one as spare. My rule is that motor should be 10% of total weight of plane. The plane is going to be arround2500gram. So I did order the NTM Prop Drive Series 42-48 650KV / 1295W.
Check it here. I will run it with 5s 4000 pack. I did not fly it yet...waiting on the extra servo, motor and carbon landing gear.
Great arf...very well build
Word even knutselen. Even werk, maar sluit perfect
Hello Alainvbelle, be careful with NTM3548. it is not for 5S but for 4S.you xill burn it. I'm flying NTM3548/900 with 12X6prop and 3300 nanotech 4S. It fly great but could also have a 11X8 for speed (not so fast as the wing is too thick) or 13X4 for more vertical. With the 3548/1100 I'll not use motre than 12X4 or you will exceed the motor max power. Enjoy flying
I received the plane. Great ARF kit! Only it will be arround 2500gram. The alu tube is heavy (19mm). I can not find replacement carbon :(
Also it needs 5 servos! My setup once ready is 5x servo TGY-S4405S , Turnigy Brushless ESC 85A w/ 5A SBEC, NTM Prop Drive Series 42-48 650KV / 1295W and 5s 4000 pack. I add also other landing gear. Lighter. Carbon Fiber Landing Gear 150mm.
Great plane... I hope I will fly it soon. Waiting for the motor and extra servo
Hi guys, The NTM motor 42-48 is great, but you need to adapt the motor mount and do not forget to order the reverse mounting kit. Forget the servos I did mention. They are okay for a slow flyer...but not for this Nemesis. See rcgroups for more info on this great looking plane
When you look at the airfoil (symetrical and way too thick) or at the control surfaces (huge almost 3D like) you will notice, that this plane is not made for insane speeds. But I think this bird is much fun for dynamic aerobatics or F3A patterns.
I disagree entirely nitrox88, no where near 3D surfaces. However I think this model may be too LIGHT too be a really quick racer, aerofoil is not so critical.
1.I have F3A competition planes with smaller surfaces. Just look at the surfaces of F5D racers and their angles. You will be surprized...
2.Only Sailplanes need to be heavy in order to be fast. For motorplanes it's better when they are light because they don't as much alpha to gain enough lift. (Like rossfw just said)
3.Airfoil is the most critical after power setup...
airfoil isn't too thick - plus control surfaces say sport, not 3D... with tight linkages you should be able to push this to 90mph (145kmh) i reckon - but you'll need quite a bit of power
oh, ok 150km/h schould not be a problem. When i was talking about insane speeds iwas thinking about around the double.haha I think then a 1000 watts powersetup might be enough. But with this quite big bird 150km/h won't look too fast.

Plane is very light, but i think for 160 km/h strong enough. I will build it for 4s 4000 30C with an Kontronik Kora 25/10 with Carbon 12x11 Prop. Wing and Fuselage is in well Quality, Canopy is realy cool long and strong. The Cowl is poore heavy fibre, but ok....... I thing fast aerobatic is that what she will like.

Nice little Racer, well manufactured and very light.
I will enforce the landing gear area on the fuselage for safety reason.
We have a bumpy grass runway.
I hope it fly like it looks - will tell later.

Second review after first 3 flight's, starting is easy, flying is easy, landing is easy. Speed with near 800 Watt is not so fast. Flying like an F3A is her thing, neutral in knife. On elevator not so much deep, I thing 20° on high and 15° on deep is OK. Aileron much you can on high and the half on deep. CG on 1/3 is ok. Start and landing on not so short Gras no Problem. No vibration at high speed...120-140km/h. Minimum before stall ~45 km/h, minimum gas and stall is over in that second. Resum: Plane for advanced beginners to learn 3 axes in a nice Racer outfit. I like her, it's a beauty.
