Turnigy TrackStar One Cell 120A 1/12th And 1/10th Scale Sensored Brushless Car ESC
Turnigy TrackStar One Cell 120A 1/12th And 1/10th Scale Sensored Brushless Car ESC

The Turnigy TrackStar One Cell 1/12th and 1/10th scale ESC is the latest addition to Hobby Kings Sensored Car ESC range.

The TrackStar One Cell features a built in voltage booster for single cell Lipoly use in 1/12th and 1/10th scale racing. An additional heat sink and cooling fan have been included for 2S 1/10th race applications making the TrackStar One Cell a truly versatile ESC.

Using a Fast Silicon Labs MCU and high quality On-Semiconductor MOSFETs the TrackStar One Cell 120A ESC sets a new standard in high quality yet affordable car ESCs. With Intelligent MCU logic the TrackStar series ESCs allow extremely precise start up control and positioning feed back from the motor. This translates in to very smooth start up and acceleration.

Timing Indicator LED.
To conform with ROARs Sportsman Class racing rules and assist race organizers monitor driver compliance in non-timing modified race classes the TrackStar 1/10th ESC includes a timing mode indicator LED. At all times when the ESC is powered on and dynamic motor timing is set to a value greater than zero the white LED will illuminate indicating that the timing mode has been modified.

The Turnigy TrackStar One Cell 120A ESC also boasts a host of programing options not usually found in an ESC at this price and can be programmed with ease via the Turnigy TrackStar programing card (sold separately).

Hi! Connected it with 1S Lipo an the BEC is not working. Connecting on 2S Lipo BEC also doesn´**t work. Then i connected an RX Batterie to the Receiver an then it worked and calibrated. Any idea why BEC is not working?
Gonzalo  1 points - 5/17/2013

This ESC is actually identical to the TORO 1S ESC. You can just type that into google and it should come up. The programming instructions are available there. There appears to be a SKYRC usb programming adapter but no mention of software that I can find. Hope that helps.
James  3 points - 5/8/2013

Does this have a booster integrated? As in, I don't have to use another to up the voltage for the servo/receiver? Cheers

Will this esc run the XK3650-10500KV Sensored Brushless Inrunner (3.5T)
Ahmet Nasıh  20 points - 2/4/2013

Hi -First i calibrate gas and brake. -Second i started manual programming beeping answering yes or no to each step. -Finally turn off the Esc and after that the steering servo works find but nothing else, it stays whit yellow and red light on´*s but doesnt, reponse to the tx throttle. What should i do? Thx
 Aryeh 2 points
OK. First make sure all your radio options are set essentially back to default. It could be, for instancee, that your throttle setting is set to reverse.
 weedly 6 points
Yep i do.

I received answer from factory that i have to use the esc whit futaba radio, what i did.

Im looking how to set the esc whitout card and using the manual mode, whitout success.
 Gonzalo 1 points
I noticed after programming and the throttle does not respond, you just have to re-calibrate the throttle and it works again. thanks.

will this work with a XK2860-B-5050KV Brushless Inrunner , Turnigy Track Star 60A ESC Programing Card , HobbyKing 50watt 5A X-Charger/Balancer , Turnigy 1800mAh 2S 30C Lipo Pack ,Hobby King GT-2 2.4Ghz 2Ch Tx & Rx

I installed it and it works but i cant program it with the programcard.Tried the programcard with my 1/8 esc and it works fine. When i connect it to esc it only lights up the auto lipo light and nothing happens when i press the button. In the manual they use a 1s lipo and i use a 2s lipo.Could this be the problem?

can this handle hobbywing xerun 90000kv motor??
 davidpc2 235 points
Hi I imagine you are asking for a 9.000KV motor (one more 0 would be insane). For Off-road max 6.5T so not would be suitable. For on-road, it would be quite limit, as some brands have 9.000kv on a 4T or maybe lower. Hope helps

Quote: "boasts a host of programing options not usually found in an ESC at this price" if you look at the TrackStar programming card, they are the inflexible ones where the hardware (number of rows and LEDs) limits it, and i can only a minimum of settings?! the turnigy cards are much better as they are flexible and can setup any amount of settings and so are compatible with any future firmware upgrades. I don't think the TrackStar cards here at HK are the ones that should be used with this ESC. maybe the Turnigy ones work?
 mattio79 123 points
these trackstar ESCS, with the exception of the 60A (Leopard) are TORO escs.

Looking at the second picture:

There's a big red and and a big black for the battery and small ones for the capacitor -> OK

There's big blue/orange/yellow ones for the motor -> OK

There's a sensor port, but no sensorwire is connected -> OK

There's a black/red for the on/off switch -> OK
There's a black/red for the fan -> OK

There's a black/red/white for receiver -> OK

But the last black/red/white, IS THAT SO YOU CAN USE THE PROGRAM CARD???

ALSO CAN SOMEONE SCAN AND POST THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL PLEASE?
 Aolink 8 points
I have the esc and the progaming card is very nice, its easy to change settings,Punch, timing, brake strengh, drag break etc.. 8 at all, the same as manualy.

BEC output is only 1 amp. This is probably not enough for a fast servo. Any feedback regarding this point ?
 Aolink 8 points
Yes is enought for a fast servo, i have it whit mini servo hitec 0.14sec at 3.7V, iuse in pancar1/12 whit 1S.realy nice Esc*-)

Does this esc have boost and turbo functions?
 possessed3t 4 points
no if you look at the program card in the combo section, it does not offer any turbo/boost function
 mikeylama 52 points
Posessed, the dynamic timing is an advanced feature of the ESC, bence it is not mandatory to be present in the programme card, as a programming function, but rather on PC. So, my question is still on.
rcwck  273 points - 1/10/2012

I do not see a conventional sensor port on the esc. Wondering if some of those bare pins are it?

 steliosh 65 points
check the 4th pic: It's right under the red and blue cables...

Yes is as one sensor port, very good esc! I run whit 1S in 1/12 whit lrp 6.5T and 2S in 1/10 TT buggy whit 8.5 T, whit the fan of corse*-)
 Mulder 42 points
i run a hobbywing 1s ESC in my 1/12. basically the same specs, also with booster. it has two annoying "features": 1) there is a delay of about half a second when you accelerate from 0, i tried several settings and it is always slower than the other racers which use 4 cell nimhs on normal ESCs without boosters. 2) there seem to be a boost that kicks in when you hold full throttle for more than 0.5-1 second. i tried switching this off, or change the delay but no effect. this is with a non sensored motor. could you tell me how this ESC behaves compared to my statements above?
mikeylama  52 points - 1/9/2012

okay, so does this thingie have a dinamic timing function? Should we have a proper manual or it? Thanks.

 peter2 137 points
and another: why is there a viperjet cockpit in the combo items?
 steliosh 65 points
maybe the vehicle it will be used in, will be as fast as a jet?!
 discgolferlee 26 points

When the sale went this regulation, I bought it along with the programmer. But I was very disappointed that the functions of drag/brake and brake work very badly. I do not recommend this controller for the competition

i must say it is not a bad esc... small enough for the 1/12th (indoor) chasis and good enough to work in a 1/10th buggy. i am realy happy with it what i do recomend is getting a booster pack or power cap to go on the rx side of things to help power the heavy servos that draw a lot of power eg: savox 1251 cheers levon
