based on the quoted max amps & power, I assume this runs on 6S. Please confirm.

will this fit and suitable for HK Viperjet 70mm composite jet?
 KaosKane 1429 points
yes pefect fit u need to make the rails to support it but if u have the viper u alrady know this.. the wattage and thrust will be more than enough eg the right amount of power *}

I don't see any reviews for this fan. Has anyone actually purchased it? I don't trust HK's specs and won't spend $100 for something that doesn't work as advertised.
 geryd916 31 points
Only one review posed and the person notes pulling 1600 watts on 6S. That's twice the amp draw noted in the product description. One of the two sources of information is totally out to lunch. What's the real story here? Anyone know what this setup actually produces?
 nibnobsam 63 points
I will test it in the morning when I find some earmuffs! This thing is loud... as it should be at 60,000rpm I guess
 nibnobsam 63 points
Mine pulls exactly 44A on full throttle! Accurate specs then. It also says in the manual that if it pulls much more than 44A then you should change your ESC timing. I'm using a 60A plush ESC
 geryd916 31 points
What are the thrust numbers that go along with the 44amp draw?
 geryd916 31 points
Ran the fan using 2x 2200 3S 35-70C nonotech batteries in series. Getting only 1200gm of thrust. Very disappointing

I bench tested this motor on 22 volt setup (6s) and it produced 2.5 kg of thrust with a HK 90 OPTO 100 burst ESC. It started to get a little hot after 5 seconds full throttle- but that is to be expected when it is pulling 1600 watts! I will put this thing in a fiberglass F-16 that I have waiting and it should do around 150 mph striaght and level.
HK will sell these like donuts when the news gets out.

I use this fan in the Durafly Sea Vixen. It runs very good and is well balanced. Power consumption with fully charges batteries seems to be around 1000W, a bit more than the rated 900W. But that's ok with me ;-) There is one point where you have to be careful: The edges where the cables com out of the motor housing are sharp like a knife! I softened these with some tape, but I think that's a job for the manufacturer! Therefore only three stars for quality. I was surprised of the sound of this edf: When mounted in the plane it' not the shrill sound I expected, but sounds a bit like turbine? Great!
