Is this setup ok for this esc? 3000mAh 3S 40C 3660 - 2700kv ^^200amp^^ gt3b tx & rx And all will be connected with 5.5mm connectors but the motor to the esc. Will this work?

What happens when it hits its cutoff voltage? Will it just completely stop in the water?
 EclipseCommando 5 points
I think it should just turn off all power, to avoid damage to anything. Well that would be the smart idea of a cutoff anyway.

I believe I found the programming instructions and uploaded them to the "files" section.

Can this be used in a car?
 EclipseCommando 5 points
Yes, boat and cars are the same but the cooling is different

i need some help, my esc's for boat fried and i just bought 2 of these, i was told it was my fault for not setting them up properly, i was told to turn my tx on and hold the throttle full forward then plug in the batteries, but i read that just access's the programing, can i just plug in the batteries and go or is there something i have to do when i power them up for the first time? please help
 Joel 97 points
swear they should just be plug and play, id avoid trying to program them too as they are just cheap and simple ESC's too.

The technical description for this item HK-B200A esc, lists the No of Lipo cells as 2 - 4. The photo of the item appears to say it is for 2 -7 cells, which would appear to be more likely. My use for this item is for a boat calling for 6 cells. Can anyone comment please ?
 Joel 97 points
they are rated at 2-7 cells but im pretty sure the quality of this product isnt up to scratch and they can only handle a max of 5 cells. the only ESC capable of handling a 6 cell setup is the turnigy 180A boat esc, ive found. as even the turnigy 120A esc hits thermal cut off once you run it for a small ammount of time. Also id only use a max of 4 cells with this ESC just to be safe.

altur. thanks Joel - I have ordered the Turnigy 180A to be on the safe side. The current draw in these setups is quite serious current Many thanks

has this esc got reverse? cheers
 froggy hopper 67 points
Got this last week it does have reverse .
 AnythingRC89 26 points
it does have reverse although not standard. you will need to program it in. www.link this pdf for more I personally like having the capability of reverse on a boat for those tight spots.

What are the 2 golden plugs coming out of the left of the esc for?
 CHAMP-RC 1051 points
Used to cool down the esc from overheating and smoking up. (breaking)

They are the inlet and outlet connections for the water cooling tubes which run water around the ESC and motor to keep temperature under control. Being a fully enclosed engine room, there is no way for enough air to circulate thus keeping temps down.

OPTO means that there is no BEC right?
 CHAMP-RC 1051 points
Yes that means you must purchase one of your own and attach it for this esc to function. Id suggest a BEC of 3-5 amps. 5 volts

Thank's Jamie(1) But could you tell me the difference, I have a brushed motor in my boat & I don't have any experience with electronics thank you. Gilbert.
 likity 1 points
Try this...A brushed motor has an armature in the center that rotates. This armature has metal poles that are wrapped with wire. There are different numbers of these wire wrapped poles depending on the motor design. To pass the power to these windings, the motor has a commutator that is shaped like a cylinder with slits. Each section of the commutator is connected to one of the windings. The brushes ride on the commutator to pass the power from the source. These motors have a set of permanent magnets in the case that the armature rotates inside of.
The brushless motor sort of turns things inside out. The magnet is mounted on the shaft, and rotates with it. The windings are inside the motor housing and are arranged so that they are very close to the magnet but not touching. A microprocessor in the controller is set to sense which set of windings should receive power at any given instant. The advantage here is that there is no rubbing contact in the motor.

Thank's Jamie, I knew why the brushed motor worked & now I know how the brushless motor works. I am running a big brush motor in my boat a 12 volt fan motor out of a auto fan & looking for a ESC to stand the strain. The boat is a big one at 1.5 mts.

I bought this to run in my Osprey. I have had a about 4 runs with it only on 4s but it has been faultless.

Temps on 4s with the 2200kv motor are cold.

I would buy another one. Great value for money.

Hi all, received my esc last week. That's about the best thing about it. Put it into my boat and all seemed well, took it to the lake and checked the cooling lines, taped up the hatch and got all of about 10 meters before the boat stopped dead. Smoke started pouring out of the hatch, which turned into flames when I finally got the hatch open! Lucky I was able to dunk the whole boat under to get rid of the flames one I got the battery out. I was running 4s on the seafire standard motor, should've been well within its limits. Not happy.
