Blue Angels F-18 35mm EDF Micro Jet EPO (PNF) (DE Warehouse)

Blue Angels F-18 35mm EDF Micro Jet EPO (PNF) (DE Warehouse)
Blue Angels F-18 35mm EDF Micro Jet EPO (PNF) (DE Warehouse)

This tiny Blue Angels F-18 is amazing, EPO foam combined with its feather weight stats means it will be very forgiving of the odd less than 100% landing. The 35mm Fan Unit & ESC are pre-installed as are the aileron/elevator linked servos, the model comes in 3 pieces so all you have to do when it arrives is attach the vertical stabilizers, hook up the RC equipment to a Reciever that uses Micro Molex 3 Pin conectors, such as the HobbyKing OrangeRX 4 Channel Micro reciever and you are ready to go...... where were we? Ah yes, performing those famous Blue Angels aerobatics in the local park, basketball court, in fact pretty well anywhere, these models are an absolute hoot when flown with friends, in fact get enough of you together and see if you can pull off some of those breathtaking close formation routine's the Blue Angels are famous for!

The box the model arrives in is really handy for not only transporting the model to prevent hanger rash but the spare pockets in the packing foam are ideal for carrying spare Lipolys and you will have so much fun with this, I would carry a few! This Blue Angels F-18 is so cute, even your Wife will like it!

Hi, i had to change the connectors from mini molex to graupner/jr to connect to my V8R7 receiver. The problem is that the controller starts to beep shortly after connect to the battery. Is it possible that i have to connect my receiver to the battery too? I thought that this controller had bec - so i just have tho connect the "throttle" connector to my receiver to test the motor. Can anyone tell me what i'm doin wrong? :-) Thx for help Michael

Hi all, please forget about my question. I just didn't program the controller properly... Once the controller is programmed - everything is ok.

If I want to fly this with a 3S Lipo and change to a 10 Amp ESC, do you guys think I could use the ZIPPY Flightmax 500mAh?
 Cainam 18 points
The two problems with that are weight/balance, and motor speed.

The weight shouldn't be too much of an issue, especially if you don't install the missiles. Getting the balance correct may take a bit of playing around depending on the layout. Try to get it balanced without having to add even more weight.

The second issue is motor speed. The motor is rated at 9000kv, and with a 3s battery it may actually come apart in a full power dive. It is a fairly small diameter, so it may be fine. If you do try it on 3s, definately back off the throttle in a dive. You could also replace the motor with something the same size but rated at around 7000kv.

The motor in this jet is not designed to handle 3s especially with a larger battery pack so unless you are looking for a 5 second puff of magic white smoke and then silence I would not recommend using a 3s lipo with this motor.

This motor works fine with 3S! I have the T-45 and it's the same motor. I changed esc to a turnigy plush 10A and using 370mAh 3S. Maybe the F-18 can use bigger sized lipos. The lipo-compartment in my hawk is not big enough. Also changed the 5-blade rotor to the 3-blade rotor which was in the package! Performance is amazing. The hawk goes unlimited vertical. Flighttimes with mixed throttle about 4 min. Upgrade to 3S highly recomended :-). You can fin more infos at rcgroups. Did anyone fly this plane with a 3S 11.1V Lipo? If yes - changed the ESC? 6A seems to be too little?
 Skuzzy 3 points
It will need a 10amp at least for 3S
 Dominik 23 points
Okey I thought about a 10 A too. I got the T-45 and it seems to be a little underpowered with a 2S Lipo.
 Skuzzy 3 points
I use a 10amp in my Hawk. The first ESC burnt up instantly with 3S and it didn't have enough power for 2s
 Smeagle 292 points
Hi, anybody got this flying? I'm very experienced flyer (>20years) but I cannot get it to fly. Goes in a spin right after start. After many tries got it started, but again goes into spin after first touch of elevator. WTF!? I played with the CG, but can't get it to fly at all.
 Bigk566 13 points
Smeagle, try very small control throws if you haven't already, like 3-5mm.
 pdiddy 667 points
A guy from my club purchased four of these and arranged them in a diamond formation with carbon fiber rod and once in the air it looks just like your watching the Blue Angels!

Really fast delivery! Everything was well packed & no parts were missing. I got the T-45 as well but this looks even better! Changed from stock esc to a 10A 3S Lipo because for the T-45 the 2S setting seemed to be not enough. RC & Engine Check on the ground worked out perfectly. The engine now really got amazing power! Hope to get it airborne as soon as possible. Feedback will be posted.
