The Hobbyking 70mm EDF fighter jet certainly looks the part and as a result of the quality construction, is a very capable high speed model jet. This jet was designed to be a dogfighter and this model sports an all moving tailplane and good size ailerons to give the RC pilot the kind of maneoverability that this fighter is famous for. Wing/elevator construction is Foam core/sheet balsa, the fuselage, intake, canopy and vertical stab are composite, the fan cover is removable and an eflux tube sheet is included.
This is an affordable and practical high performance scale jet that will give you many hours of fun, a 70mm fan unit is included and the total build cost should be low for such a nice quality model. Great looks, low build cost, quality construction, great flyer and of course ballistic performance, what more could you ask for!
Yeah waterlogged, why isn't it called what it is, a General Dynamics F-16? Sure looks like one to me. I say it's probably because HK is trying to stay 'below the RADAR' of General Dynamics and not get into a dispute where manufactures are claiming trademark infringement if a model is claimed to be a similar name to the full-size aircraft. I didn't see Kellyann's question as dumb, only your reply was dumb. You did not deserve any credit for your response.
You could be right with your theory, who knows. But you can call it what you like. Hobbyking sell it and If there's a reason for not calling what you say it is then I guess they have that right as well. You say I shouldn't have the credit, yet see who paid it to me? Why did he do that. This guy has tried to bribe me to keep quiet about his estimated $2,000.00 scam and now he thinks that by paying me it incriminates me in his scam. He has admitted his scam in writing to his friends in India he tells them he needs the money to subsidise his hobby. He's on a good wage with no family, doesn't that bug you? it sure bugs many other members. Think about it.
Sorry, I am not involve in the behind-the-scenes 'soap opera' to which you refer. If I knew of the details, maybe I'd have a different view but I'm here to discuss HK's products, nothing more.
For all those thinking on buying this plane, If u follow the power unit spec's* IT WILL NOT FLY!!! Been there done that. 5s or better. Hand launch- Cant see it! Its too heavy. Bungy- I could possibly see that. But I decided to go with what I knew to work. ARC 28-58-1, Wemo minifan pro,6s. Here is some flight video of the HK F-16. Enjoy!!!
It is an F-16, and the decals look real close to the full scale version. I live in Tulsa, OK and see these F-16's doing touch n gos all the time. This paint scheme is on all the national guard planes that are stationed there.
So sheriffe you say its too heavy. Is there not a decent 4s set up that HK sells that would work in it?
Yesterday i finally flew my f16. Het fan, Arc motor 28/47/2 , Turnigy 60 amp ESC, 6 2200 Gen ace cells. Bunggee for take off. My kit did not come with instruction and I guess the CG and control throw!
The plane flew well but the first minute was very intensive on the trim. Full power was vertical climb...
I landed after 3.30 minutes. I used 1200 mah .Next i will set the timer to 4 minutes and added 1/2 once of led in the nose for better stability . Will post a video if possible.
Happy , for the price this jet is a blast.
My complaint is : no instruction manual, poor paint on the wing.
Not the best wood for the former 6/10
wtf water? you not being able to recognize an f16 seems really odd. i can understand if this was a knitting site and u didnt know what it was but, on an rc site thats mostly geared towards airplanes? hk currently sells 9 different f16 models. none of them r labeled as an f16 but i thought that 100% of people here would recognize it as an f16. i guess just 99%. are you from an ex warsaw pact country? the mig29 is the russian equivalent. hk must be very fearful of lockheed martin's lawyers. all of lockheed martin's planes and ONLY them are censored here. f117, sr71, f16, F22, and F35 are only labelled as "jets" and "fighters" all others r ok. i think i'm the 1st person to notice that lockheed martin is a no-no! i feel smug.
i have found ONLY 2 companies that hk are fearfull for litigation. lockheed martin as stated above and redbull. at least hk is willing to sell models of lockheed's planes and not call them that. they wont go near redbull with a 10 foot pole. i'm surprised they havent deleted the video of the edge 540 800mm racer prototype in the redbull livery. even if they dont sell it, they r clearly showing redbull in the vid on youtube
What a weird person you are sfactor. Which legislation are you referring to which dictates that "everyone MUST" Know what an F16 looks like. I actually worked for Marconi Avionics in the UK in the RST department. One part of the select group built them and my job was to wreck the black boxes for low level flight control and missile control by freezing and overheating them whilst subjecting them to 18G. If and when they failed I found the fault and repaired it. I wouldn't know the F16 if I fell over one. But I'd know their control systems a mile off. Plus I'm not a fan of RC jets. I prefer the older warbirds and many RC only planes. Who cares if you know anything about Lockheed or F anything. Its not a priority in my life and never will be. Your expectations are way off and I'm sure HK have many more than 100 members. Don't feel smug. You've said nothing to be smug about.

My order just arrived and the directions did not come with it. I specifically ordered it because the product description said it came with building directions...unlike some kits that do not. Also, to add to my nice day (sarcasm) the plane came with a not-so-good packed airplane and one crushed right wing tip. What a bummer...I will keep you all posted here on how HK handles this matter. I will not hesitate to tube this if i get burned.

To make a long story short: I do not recommend Hobby King.
You will be better off supporting your local hobby shop where your SERVICE will be better and they will take care of you-unlike HK.
This purchase shall be the last -so savor the flavor HK -I am done.

Well I got mine and the packaging was great. I too dint have instructions however did download the slides from the international file of this same plane. I have had it for a month and have it built. Do want to do retracts but the F-16 ones I have found put the retracts in the intake. It's to thin to do that. I'll figure something out. I. Like the plane and would recommend to someone with time and the skills to adapt the balsa for your needs.
