Super Chipmunk Composite 1615mm Glow (ARF) (AUS Warehouse)
The Super Chipmunk is a great looking sport model that is designed to take up to a powerful 0.60 glow engine. The durable composite fuselage is nicely made and not too thick, the paint finish is excellent as is the superbly applied covering. The removable one peice wing is balsa, as are the tailfeathers, which helps to prevent the usual tail heavy tendency often associated with scale fibreglass models. As well as a quality and comprehensive hardware package, the Chippy also comes with a fuel tank & fittings, engine mount and a nicely finished glassfiber cowl and wheel pants.
Despite the composite construction, flying weight is not excessive, this model is the perfect sport scale aerobatic flyer and the attractive, bright colour scheme is great for orientation as well as being a nice representation of this great looking aircraft. The Super Chipmunk is practical and very, very durable, treated well, this very attractive Super Chippy will look good for years to come, the perfect sport scale model!
Maiden flight today. Tail plane snapped off several hundred feet off the ground. Vertical dive straight into the deck. Buried the engine completely. Sorting thru the wreck I discovered tail pane constructed of very soft balsa. Obviously couldn't stand the strain imposed when flying. Won't be buying another!!!!
i just got another one. the total was $178 but they took $189 from my bank. and worse still they are saying that its not paid for . this is not the right way to do business . i think i will buy from else where in the future.
the 15cc goes great , but was hard to start , you have to richin it up . once thats done the motor starts easy, heaps of power. it will idle all day and there is no hesitation from idle to full . i couldnt be more happy with the motor . im sad to say the chippy is no more . radio clitch shot it down on its maiden flight . while the plane was in the air it flew perfect, the whole flight was a non event. it was just bad luck with the radio. i will be ordering another chippy now. cheers all.
the 61 asp will fit very nicely in the plane . this plane needs a 60 . a 46 would not be enough for it. good luck with your build let me know how its getting on. cheers.
this plane is the nicest super chipmunk ive seen , well done hobby king , i will order 1 for a spare. and just to let you know im putting a 15cc petrol in her ,which came with my order.nice motor, so far the build is going great . motor is in. great fit to. cheers guys.
I think the instructions are for a 46 size chipmonk. In the 60 size, the elevator looks to have a control horn on both sides ,but coming off the one servo via a wooden dowell. Just started on my wings today. also the instructions are for one servo to control both ailerons, but the wings are designed for 2 servos.
hi, i set the cofg at 28 percent wich worked out to be spot on . my next chippy will be here on tues so i will tell you how many mm it was from the leading edged . from memory i think it was aprox 87 mm . but i will check and let you know . cheers let me know how its going.
I measured my wing and got 90mm,which is a bit forward of the wing tube . So we both are on the same spot . I should have mine in the air by the weekend. Hope your next build goes quick and you are have it in the air soon, cheers.
hi i just went throw my notes ,i set the cofg at 28 percent but that worked out to be 72mm from the leading edge . the plane flew perfect . and was rock solid and it was as windy as hell . my next chippy will be set the same. hope this helps . cheers.
I maidened her a couple of weeks ago. A non event as yours was jack. I had my engine mounted nearly upside down . It ran great in the air ,but would not idle due to the oil pooling in the head. Turned engine right way up ,but it is sitting a bit high above the fuel line. Will remount soon and go again. Yes ,she flew great and landings are a breeze.cheers.
PHILLN The gas engines will run in any orientation if they have the walbro style carby, that style carby has its own fuel pump built in just like a wippersnipper and will run fine on any angle.
once you have tried a well tuned gas engine you will find it hard to go back to glo.
hope this helps Cheers

This plane is great. I have a 15cc petrol in it. It flys fast and very acrobatic. Money well spent. I love flying it.
