how fast wil this motor go in an e revo 1 16?
runamuc  1 points - 4/26/2013

max amps is stated at 50 amps. i want to know what sucess people have had pushing this motor to much higher amp draw 70-80amps? let me know prop size and esc rating used.
aidzcruz  2 points - 4/9/2013

will this motor run with a 35A ESC?
 Cody f86saber 338 points
This will depend entirely on what voltage and what propeller the motor will be turning. What number of cells, prop size and gearbox (or EDF fan) do you plan to use?
harstrat  5 points - 3/8/2013

Hello, has anyone tried this motor with haoye 7 blades 64mm fan on 3s? if yes how much is the ampere?
 __EMI 59 points
My measurements are about 70 amps 3S
jesusvillaa  67 points - 6/7/2012

Can I use 4s?
 Michael 10 points
Bei 3S wird der Motor nach 3 min über 130 Grad Celsius heiß und zwar ohne irgendweine Last. Mit 2S habe ichs nich probiert. I tried this one with 3S and it´s getting really hot. More than 130 degree celcius without any fan or somthing else.

guys i want to use this on my jet but am worried about the size of my jet, can i use this motor on the typhoon 2000 jet? with 60A ESC and 2200mAh battery 3S?
 seedo 103 points
yes you can, you can even use 3000mAh
Robledo  1 points - 10/21/2011

Alguien me puede decir si este motor puede trabajar con baterias de 4 celdas? Gracias

Hola Robledo, estoy buscando un motor para el EDF de 65 mm de mi t-45, ¿*que resultado te ha dado este motor? ¿*Cuanto voltaje aguanta y cuanto consume? Gracias.
ezarc  138 points - 9/10/2011

The stock for these are -16. How long have the people who ordered them been waiting? I was interested in 1 but I don't want to pay if it will take a long time, I will order a different one instead.
 ezarc 138 points
Also can anyone tell me how many mm diagonally across from the mounting holes?
 Bekkarim 15 points
put it in the wishlist, you will be notified when it come ! nice day

I already did, they were back in stock about a week ago.
 Cody f86saber 338 points
Hello ezarc, there are dual sets of mounting holes, 15.5mm and 19mm spacing dead center. Shaft length is 12.7mm and 3.17mm diameter. Hope this was helpful.

Hello, Can this Brushless Motor be used in Traxxas E-Revo 1/16 VXL without any change ? If yes, how does it work in that car ? Thanks
 Gr_Al 5 points
Yes. I use this motor on my mini-revo. But Traxxas ESC not reliable, i change ESC too.
 Freezer1980 1 points
Thanks for the answer. Does it work better than the original velineon ? (Speed, Temperature,...) ? I want to use it with 3s - which ratio is ok ?
 Arthur 23 points
Hello, i dont recomend use it on e-revo VXL. have toasted the original velineon ESC using 2s lipo. it pulls to much amps. other thing is to be carrefull with the connectors, they tend to lose with time.
 bugnet 1 points
It rocks on the mini revo just got an turnigy 35A esc and u are fine
seedo  103 points - 5/31/2011

This motor came with no screws so can anyone help where i can get screws from?
 EIFLER 6 points
hello you need 2.5mm screws that all good tooling shop has. but none in HK
 nes 23 points
Yes the diameter of the screw is 2.5mm but i use theese motors in various models and you must make sure that the screw length does not exceed 1/2 an inch or 12.5mm because it begins to rub on the internal part of the motor.

if u getting this motor and you want to use it with the 7 blades 2.5 inch EDF unit then buy 3.17mm shaft
 EIFLER 6 points
if you want to use the turbine blades with 7 engine you have been obliged to meter the 3.17 mm adapter

Got a problem! I bought this to be used with the 3 inch 7 blade fan. It seems that the load gets too high. On full throttle I get 116A and 1133W with Zippy Flightmax 5000mAh. Is the fan too big for this motor or what?? Fortunately I noticed this in just seconds and with the wattmeter attached, so no apparent harm done so far.
 Mattias 3 points
Forgot to say it's a Zippy 3S1P 15C...
 David 62 points
Yup, 4900kV is too high for that large of a fan.
Go with a 2836 Outrunner * 3900kV for 3S and 3" EDF.
 David 62 points

 estefan 7 points
I have the same motor, and yes, that fan is too much for this Amp-hungry baby. I'll try "High-Speed EDF Ducted Fan Unit 3Blade 2.75inch 70mm" ($8.12, currently out of stock), and HET 6904 - 4 blades (not available in this site). Try also changing the ESC timing setup, I did some tests using a 5*2 prop and got significant differences in amp readings.
 EIFLER 6 points
3 inch turbine with blades 7 is too big to be a motor engine de4300 kv 3900kv'll see better now.

What speed controller is best to make it fast and use one ONE battery on the system - Total? Thanks Jeff
 jlaffin 26 points
The Hobbyking SS Series 60-70A ESC would be safe to use. PRODUCT ID: HK-SS70A
 RixtaRC 8 points
i would say an ezrun 60a or similar would be good for this motor would use it to its full potential
 Brutus315 26 points
In the product description it states the max the motor can take is 50 amp. I always give myself some headroom so 60 amp is the minimum I would use. Turnigy Plush 60 amp is one I own. It has a switching BEC so it can also handle multiple servos. The Hobby King SS series 60-70amp ESC is a good budget servo. You will need to buy a BEC.
 Crampy 184 points
It would really depend on how many cells you want too use and what prop you want to run. That will determine how many peak amps you will be pulling, so choose an ESC form there. You'll need one with a built in BEC, if you only want to use one battery, or buy an external BEC and wire it into the ESC battery leads.
 guitaramp68 40 points
best bet with spare for security,i would go hk 30/40 esc
 Lucien 14 points
this is a good controller with 8 and 16kHz TURNIGY TRUST 70A SBEC Brushless Speed Controller
 Dr.LuckyLuke 317 points
Any brushless ESC with allowed current 80A and WITH BEC (SBEC, UBEC, xBEC, ...) will work. For example Turnigy Plush 80A www.link or hexTronik PRO 80A BESC www.link could work
 Angel RC Design 23 points
I think this motor is good for a 70mm fan system,
on a 3 cell.
 Jeffrey 5 points
Thanks for ALL the input, it is much appreciated!! Now Mattias makes an interesting point here as I was intending to use these motors with their 7 blade EDF 2.5/3.0". Now what to do?? I am looking for a high speed motor for the unique sound it makes in an EDF also power for fast flight. I realise that there are many other expensive options if I was to use "Name Brand" stuff but I have bought a bunch of stuff from HK and overall am very satisfied. I have kit forms, the F14 and F16 and want to power these. What have you used to good effect in these planes? Again thanks for all your help Guys. My direct email is jerryhartwell*yahoo**** P.S. One of these days I will fly my A380! JEFF

I have hear a Plush 80A and Turnigy 2200 3S 45-90c works well. just check with a watt meter and change your prop / fan accordingly.

Is this a good motor to use on a 930mm hobbyking pylon racer with a 4.75 4.75 prop 80amps esc and 3s 2200 mah battery? thanks for answering.
 Imprez 15 points
yes you need 80amps esc. 3s 2.2Ah should be ok, but I can't help you with the prop, sorry.

Hi There..I would like to set this motor on a boat with 50A esc is recomended?
Or is better to use a motor 2700kv..my buttery is 2200 2sp 30c
Thanks!
 Imprez 15 points
you'll propably need an higest powered esc, but if it is water cooled may be ok.

I just got this combo and almost done getting it ready. will let you know how it goes.
 JaredG 318 points
I just tried it out before sealing up the jet. I had trouble first around with the hobbyking 40A ESC sbec(mystery ice) and it stuttered at first, so I changed it to hard start, and then it jumped to 58 amps just before full throttle and stuttered so I shut it down and put in an Align 60A esc I have. Tried out 2S 5000 40C lipo and it ran smooth right up to full throttle, screaming! So I then tried a 3s 3600 35c and it was smooth up to about 3/4 throttle where it stuttered and was very loud so I shut it down. 2s 5000 lipo, static test- full throttle 50.8Ap 389.7Wp 7.67V min 37585RPM 3s 3600 , static - throttle – motor stutters at various points in throttle: 46Ap 513.8Wp 11.1Vmin RPM: 53900 I am going to use the 2s lipos until fan and motor are broke-in and tested in flight, and will try 3s after! Should be OK if kept around 50A.
 kobuscl 6 points
motor will get hot and burn out

Has anybody tried one of these in a traxxas mini revo?
 T3rry 307 points
should work fine, but you will have to gear down a bit since the stock motor is only 3800-4000kv (i have heard conflicting numbers on it)
 Jacob 12 points
I know a few people that have and it seems to be fine. I've just bought one for my Mini Revo too.

Its stupid FAST in the mini revo!!!!!!

a friend of mine took this motor with 2,5" EDF + 70A esc + 2.200mah 25C 14.4V battery. he would like to use these in a Mirage but during the test on the ground, after 3 minutes with throttle in the middle, the motor was too hot and it lost rpm. i would suggest you to buy a motor that works below 3700rpm with 4S battery
CorollaGT  116 points -

Can I use this motor with a 2.5" EDF + 80A HXT PRO esc + Zippy 5000 mah battery?

yes, but probably stay on 3 cells, not 4,

How many battery cells do you want to run ? this dictates size of prop to stay under 50 amps.

Tested on a bench with a WM400 velocity RC Fan with 3S 3700mA 20C. Max power is above 800W !!!! but probably not suitable for motor's life..... I just tested a few seconds. Will now try on an HET F20 jet with first a limitation to 600W and see on higher power what happens....I will give you information as soon as...

I used this motor with self-made water cooling on boat FSR ECO expert with 5000 2s lipo. The result has surpassed expectations. The modern case of a boat has appeared improper for that speed which was given by this motor. On full gas to float it has appeared it is impossible. I am glad to this acquisition and took 2 more that my friends did not lag behind me. Fine purchase.

I use this motor in combination with the following setup: KB28-47-08S plus ZIPPY-H 5000mAh 3S1P 20-30C Lipoly, Haoye 2.5" 70mm EDF fan and fitted this setup into my SAPAC Goshawk foam EDF. It immediately turned that underpowered jet into a speed monster. But the motor shaft is soft, got a lil bent when i fitted it into the EDF fan casing and I also noticed that there is no ventilation hole for motor either. Results? The EDF was scrubbing the side and was making loud noises. Everything else is okay I guess, 5 minutes of full throttle just makes this motor warm, not too hot like other motor I've used, or worse burnt hehe. The supplier should have spare motor shaft's available, in my opinion, too soft! Either make it stronger or sell the extra shaft. Everything else is okay I guess.

This motor is good. Has no cooling and gets hot fast. Not suitable for 2.5 fan on 3S. Melted fan. Crashed. Zippy 3S2P 4400, turnigy 80, 2.5 inch five blade hoaye fan, 2.5 lbs thrust, maybe 100 mph after a dive in a home built 36 inch span twin boom jet. Veeeeeery hot motor.
This was just too much load for the higher kv so pick your hobby city motor wisely. It was fun while it lasted though, I may try 4S with lower kv, 4000 range.
