this motor gets real hot with a 4x4 prop and 3s lipo. I use 4x2.5 with 2s. its a good little motor!

Can the shaft be reversed?
 ilektron 66 points
Just about all brushless outrunners allow you reverse the shaft, but this one you'd be left without a motor mount :)

i think i got a dud i get to half throttle with no prop and it jumps all over the place like its running on 2 phases or something its that small i have no way of re soldering it even if it has a broken wire maybe its a dud
 JDspecial1 6 points
try it with a prop

Can this be used to drive the tail of an Axe CPv3 heli?
po_au  641 points - 4/18/2009

I bought two of these and both got really really hot after less than 30sec at full throttle using 2s battery.

Could it be my ESC or the motor itself?
 Beaufighter 1808 points
It could be the esc timing, but what size propeller are you using? If it is more then 4x4, then the motor is pulling more amps than specified.

Hi,
I'm using this motor with AR6300 on Walkera 4G3 2S
with Turnigy 6A ESC
 Beaufighter 1808 points
Well, have no idea how much power is needed. Could you measure the power/amps used at full power? This is a very tiny motor, and is rated for around 25W (that is max 3.5A). If you are pulling more than 3.5A it will get warm and burn....
 po_au 641 points
what timing should I use? atm the ESC is set to slow by default. Should I set to high?
I don't have the equipment to measure power/amps.
many thanks,

The weight as mentioned here is likely wrong. The Turnigy data as in the file claims 5.5gram for the bare motor, and 8.2 including connectors. That fits a lot better with the thrust values.

4 thumbs up!
Weight is 7.3g, not 25g. The other dimensional data is correct.
The four legged base weights 1.45.g, so if you have got a 1.3mm hex wrench to remove it, the final weight is 5.8g. The back of this motor can be fitted in any 6mm bore hole.
The wires output joint is secured with glue, to make it more durable, Nice motor.

Tested using HK 3A 1s ESC plus
350mAh cell:

Prop, A T g/w
GWS 4025, 2.3, 51.5, 5.46
GWS 4540, 2.9, 54 , 4.54
GWS 5030, 2.8, 62.8, 5.45

Gets a bit hot with 4540 and 5030.

I fitted this to my Walkera 4G3 as a main motor with a Dual Cell setup, has enough power to drive the blades at even 12 deg pitch. The weight is 5.8g without the mount, and a turnigy 6A ESC is all you need to power it.
I have a video www.link be converting my 4#3B with this motor as well, lots of power at less than half the weight of the stock motors.

Tried this motor on a 50 gram plane would not quite hover with 1 cell battery and 4.5x4 prop. Same plane with the 3000kv version of this motor and 2 cell battery is a rocket with an AUW or 60 grams. 4500kv motor would do 3 d with an AUW 40 grams or less on 1 cell. 4.5x3 prop seems right.
