Hi What points should be taken into account so that an airplane fly?
DAVID  6 points - 4/7/2013

planning to use ntm 3536, 910kv motor with 12x6 blade, esc is 45amp, 3s 2200 battery, draw 28A. and 310W. is it a good match? I tried 10x5 blade, draw 21A and 240W. which one is preferred. I like to fly slow.

I have a Turnigy D2836/11 750KV with no plane, could I use this motor in this plane?
Robert  2 points - 1/13/2013

I have a Monster Power 25 motor 35-48 kv 870, I am going to use a castle 54 esc and 3c 11.1 2200mah 25c battery. Do you think this setup will work on the plane.
 Dan 33 points
With that set up you will be producing just about a 1.06:1 Thrust to wt ratio. The motor and esc are a good choice, (very similar to my set up), but I would use a 3300 4s battery and a 10 x 7 3 blade prop. This will give you a much longer flight time and a 2.0:1 thrust to wt ratio. Should fly like a homesick angel.

Installed the landing gear and wheels, all pretty straight forward. Undecided about the wheel pants, so they are hold for now. Mounted the servos for the tail in the aft fuselage area.had to open up the existing cuts slightly for the hitec hs81 servos. It is very solid back there. Installed the vertical stabilizer. ( note: temporarily shimmed it up with a toothpick and marked the trim area to be removed to allow the cut line to be under the fuselage when completed. Very neat). Cut out the covering and installed both wing panels. No surprises and the carbon tube fit great. All about two hours.
Dan  33 points - 11/18/2012

Got the ailerons hinged today, and installed the aileron servos. Had to enlarge the servo openings slightly. All in about an hour. Painted the landing gear white and will install tomorrow.
Dan  33 points - 11/17/2012

Planning on adding windows, cutting out an air exit hole in the bottom of the fuselage and mounting the servos in the tail if needed for cg.
Dan  33 points - 11/17/2012

I recieved my airplane in 4 days! This was my first purchase here and all went very well. Airplane was not double boxed, just extra cardboard taped top and bottom. No shipping damage and the tracking from the Hong Kong end was great. Emails on item picking and shipping. High quality kit. I will buy here again.

I am planning on using a Tacon Bigfoot 25 870kv motor, 60 turnigy 60 amp esc, and a 3300 mah 45c 4s battery pack with a 10x6x3 blade prop. Hitec hs-81 servos. what do you think of this setup? Betting it will be pretty aerobatic. 1.87:1 thrust ratio.

can i use 46 ax on this plane
 Mubark 124 points
NO,46 size engine is much higher for this,i saw some one was using 21 size engine with 9*6 prop, and its more the enough

what about a park 480 for this plane
 Dan 33 points
I went with a tacon Bigfoot 25. It should produce a thrust of 1.87:1 which will be outta sight. A g25 won't work, your motor needs to mount behind the firewall.
Hermon  4 points - 10/21/2012

I have NTM 3530 1100KV with ESC 40 and 10 x 5 prop. Would your think this is a perfect match for this bird to perform some aerobatic manoeuvre?
 Gary 2959 points
You have not mentioned which battery you are using but I assume it is a 3cell pack. This model will be nicely aerobatic with about 220w of power,on your set up you will have around 200w,be ok but not lively,if you change to a 12 x 6 prop this will go up to 266w which will be more like it,and you will still only be drawing 26amps which is well in for your ESC.

Hi, Does anyone know where i can find some spare parts for this plane (for example cowl and canopy) Thanks

tengo guardado un hyperion que pesa 180g creen que sera demasiado peso?
sheldon  1 points - 9/6/2012

i think this will be my next plane so iv been looking into power systems for it the best i can figure would be a g10 1200kv motor 60 amp esc 2200 3s 25-30c battery 2xmg 11g 2x21g servos wieght should come in around 1200g with a max trust of 1800g im shooting for over powered i hate flying wot all the time and the g10 only adds <50% of the 480 motor weight and gives the option of 2400g trust if i decide to use a bigger lipo so whats your thoughts
 nossbc 7 points
go with this motor 35-36 ntn 1800kv ...yu'll fly it 1/4 throtleand 15min fly times on 3s 2200mha 20c

Like its precious design, i want to put a 21asp engine on it, just wondering whether its possible

it is but you will have to do some mods...

Has anyone had problems with the motor mount breaking loose...?? I bought this kit and was very impressed with the build, but did think the very light ply that the motor is mounted to looked a little flimsy...? Upon testing on the ground before take off, the motor pulled the mounting plate (ply) completely away from its support and smashed the cowl from the inside, making several holes in the process. I have built new mountings for the motor and repaired the cowl, just needs repainting and she is ready to go again ... :-)
 nossbc 7 points
had same problem....i reenforced the front and perfect since then

I'm concidering this plane as a lazy-day semi acro flyer, but I'm a bit uncertain about choice of servo's. I see many are using HXT900's, but won't they be a tad too small, especially on the ailerons? Could I use a 14-16g servo (size-wise), or won't they fit? I'm also going to ditch the stock motor mount and go with a proper one since I will fly this with a little more power then what's just needed to get it in the air
 nossbc 7 points
i use 9g servos all around np....for 1 year now and lots of aerobatics with it
 Dan 33 points
I installed hi-tec hs-81's. they work great with this aircraft.

eu posso desmontar a asa para transporta-lo mais facilmente ou a asa nã*o é* removivel apó*s monta-lo? (can I remove the wing to carry it easily or the wing is not removable after assembled?)

WHAT IS THE CG FOR THIS PLANE I DID NOT GET ANY INSTRUCTIONS
 ANDY in c.a.p 329 points
i would just start with 1/3 frome the leeding edg of the wing
 marko 4 points
Exactly, there is no need for instruction on CG, take one-third the width of wing or rather un-checking where the carbon rod is inserted and that's it, give very little traction on the nose and fly! www.link luck
 nossbc 7 points
on instructions...from front of wing measur back 68.7mm thats cg

Will it fly well with Park480 1020Kv motor, 3S 2000mAh battery, 30A ESC and TGS 10x5 prop??
 lucashimself 20 points
No, this is not the best match. look for a 3530, or even a 3536 to have plenty of power. you can use larger batteries if you want better flight duration. the battery compartment is large enough
Rodrigo  1 points - 2/9/2012

comes equipped with control and battery, jah ready to fly out of the box?

Rodrigo this is a ARF. You get the plane almost finsihed BUT NO motor NO battery No servos No esc and No receiver. I hope this helps

I got a fs20 (.20 four stroke) kickin around and was wondering if that would be a ok match for this plane. If not do you think it would perform better on the 40 inch DHC beaver.
 Kellyann 16220 points
Widowmaker22 power wise it would be fine BUT this is designed for Electric. Not GLOW. So vibrations and oil will be a issue. Also you will need to strengthen every thing. I hope this nhelps

Does anyone know where the CG is ?
Thanks
I think this is one really nice little plane! especilaly when you consider the pricing.
 Kellyann 16220 points
gotta havit I am really sorry to do this but the old one third of the cord width (The width) of the wing is a good place to start. I hope this helps

I am missing some of the hardware in my kit. Incorrect screws and missing screws. Anyone else have this problem?
 marko 4 points

comes with this model airplane engine, and what more do you need?
 Kellyann 16220 points
tiago NO MOTOR Suggested Motor: Turnigy 28-XX size ESC: 30A, Prop: 10x6~11x6, Battery, Transmitter, Receiver, Servos x 4 I hope this helps
 Hansc 373 points
No motor or propeller included. Not even windows in mine :-). The 28 motor size is a good choice.
demondeyez  13 points - 11/22/2011

i think they should bring back the red one as it looks better and you have the choice of power unit elec/glow the yellow one has no side windows although you could cut the film away and put clear film in its place seams like a lot of messing about hk should add the windows and other moter mount to this plane
 kekelala 307 points
Windows definitely looks better in terms of scale-like. I prefer the glow powered version too! Such a pity to have a wood plane that is only EP
 Distruckto 7 points
I just ordered this one and was thinking the same re: windows. Interestingly, I consulted Google and found a set of windows for the old Phoenix Models .46 Super Decathlon from Tower Hobbies. It looks like you can still purchase them, so I might give that a go and see if they fit. Otherwise, it's out with a blade and iron, and a sheet of clear plastic. This one really does look far to nice to deny it a proper cockpit.
 Dan 33 points
I cut out windows from a sheet of black trim sheet (self adhesive) and applied. They look great. Also painted the sunroof window and front windshield black. Looks really great and also keeps the sun out reducing the temperature for the electronics.
cp2smith  2 points - 10/28/2011

Would a Park 480 with 30 AMP ESC and 2100mah 35C lipo power this plane reasonably well? I have the parts waiting to be installed in a plane. Thanks for any advice....
 cp2smith 2 points
Also which size servos are people using in this plane?
 Kellyann 16220 points
cp2smith is the 480 brushed then no if brushless yes an 9 gram servo. I hope this helps
Ibrahim  2 points - 10/16/2011

which fuel motor will i need?
 joren 8 points
I would suggest a 6.5 cc methanol 2 stroke engine. But you will need to reenforce the engine mount. and i would say dont convert it to gas becausse it will bee to heavy. and DO NOT USE THE DEFLECTIONS FOR THE FLIGHT CONTROLS WHAT THE BOOK SAYS!!!! or you will crash

I bought this plane in Austria and it was 85€ plus post... Great plane and very easy to fly with. I recommend this for beginners, but you can also do samo small 3d tricks....
I was using TR 35-30C 1100kv Brushless Outrunner, 3S Zippy 2100, TURNIGY Plush 40amp Speed Controll, Corona Synthesized Receiver 6Ch 35 and HXT 9g servos.
Decathlon with this power is really fun and a great flyer.
I recommend !

If I could I would like to give this plane 6 stars. Goes together easy and fast. the order was placed on the 2nd and I got the order on the 10th. the plane was double boxed and in great shape. sure no side windows and pull pull tail would be nice, but hey its $66.30 and for that no complaints.. you can get it flying for under $200 U.S.. compare to e-flight Taylorcraft.

I bought it with a different color (red and white) in Turkey. It is my first RC plane and it is a perfect choice for beginners. I am using it with Zippy 3S 2200 lipo and 30A ESC with 890kv brushless outrunner. It has good performance for this combination.

15 thumbs up!
I have flown this airplane three times now. Flies great once trimmed and balanced. Control throws in manual are way too high. I am using a Heads Up 3530-10 outrunner with a 2200mAh 3S and 11X5.5E APC prop. Plenty of power and 15 minute plus flight times.

One complaint. While construction and finish is really good, the quality of some of the wood is poor. Stringers in the fuselage are thin and very weak as are some of the fuselage formers.
