Please excuse Tumad for his false information and claims. Just as the saying goes "Don't believe everything that you hear." Well this is the perfect example that Tumad is setting. Do your own research first and not from just one source. Try as many sources as you can, and i guarantee you that you'll come out much more informed than what Ass boob is trying to spew.

*tumad* I'm sure there are plenty of ESC that can handle up to 1000A. But , I've never seen any r/c car motor that can handle even 200A. The highest amp rating in a motor that I've seen is for heli (800A) the motor so big it would not even fit in any r/c cars. Are you sure there are motor that can peak *1000A? Is there any documentation I could read about somewhere? From the spec sheet of Castle or Neu motors, their car motor can only handle up yo 120A max. Did I misunderstood something here? Or all this high amp esc/battery is just a gimmick?
   sabongi (45%)
you have to understand the difference between continuous AMP and burst AMP!

rooster (74%)
Hello, I don't understand why the esc is made capable to supply over 1000amp while the motor can only take 76amp? Did I miss something here? Please help. What is the actual max amp for this motor? thx
   Extra Rc (52%)
dude the esc can handle 150 amps not 1000 AMPS !!!
   tumad (75%)
Amp rating is continuous. The motor and ESC can peak at up to 1000 amps in certain cases. For anyone considering this system, make sure you under gear your car by at least 1 tooth on the pinion to keep things cool. Also make sure you use heavy duty battery plus capable of 150 amps. Stay away from plugs rated to 60 amps like those supplied on the bigger batteries. They can cause an overload and the solder comes loose causing problems...
   tumad (75%)
Truggy 13/50 buggy 13/46 with the supplied 2350kv motor max gearing on 4s.
15/50 and 15/46 resp. with a 2000kv motor on 4s...
Motor temp should not go over 75deg celsius. ESC should be about 45 deg Celsius with this gearing...
   rooster (74%)

Anyone know what gauge wire and what connectors are used for the esc and motor?

This system is a waste of time. Motor blew after 2 runs. Replaced motor with Tekin T8. Controller lasted another 8 runs and then stopped working. Rather buy decent system if you want reliability... I ordered another controller because I thought they were good, but now I'm sorry I did...
Contoller only ever got to 47deg celcius so it is a mystery as to what happened...

9/13/2009
tumad (75%)
I just installed this into RC8Te
Gearing is 50/14 (not supplied 22 pinion) so under geared. Running with 4s 5000 Turnigy lipos. Ran great first run, but now on acceleration motor stutters and just beeps.... Any suggestions?
   dougle40 (57%)
You say 4s "LiPOs (meaning 2)" if so you are over powering the ESC it's designed for a max of 6s not 8s. If running 1 4s then you may have your cut-off set too high .
   tumad (75%)
Hi, no I don't mean 2 x 4s, I mean 1x 4s i.e. 14.8v.
The ESC can run 6s but I am running 4s lipo (1 pack)
I have the ESC set for 4.s cutoff at 3.0v. Everything is set correctly. When spinning the motor, there is no magnetic resistance at all, it just spins.
   dougle40 (57%)
If the motor over heated , it's possible that the magnets were de-magnatized by the heat which could cause that problem . What you are describing does sound like the magnets have been de-magnatized somehow .
   xtremesavage (38%)
sounds like your batterys are'nt high enough Amp's, 150A is ideal. try lowering your punch control untill it stops studdering.

what I read is that 6s is to high for the motor, does anyone ever try to run it on 5s? I want to increase from my 4s to 5s as long its safe.

xtremesavage (38%)
I just bought this, I am going to run 1 3s 5000 20c in my Erevo. is this sufficant? or will this damage anything? its only 100A
   jooyeumi (9%)
Yes, it looks fine but i would rather go for 4s with right gearing.
7/29/2009
Kevster (0%)
Um I want to run 2 3s lipos, is this gonna be ok, cus I really dont want to go lower.
   scarletboa (83%)
the esc can handle it just fine, but the motor will not last long. with most motors, you do not want to exceed 40k rpm. 4s is the ideal with this motor. for 6s, try using either a KB45-12L (1400kv) motor or a KB45-8XL (1600kv) motor. gear for 40-45mph with the L and 50-55mph with the XL.
i have both of those KB motors and both are superior to the stock motor, but require the shaft being ground down to 5mm (use a dremel while spinning motor) and you need a custom motor mount with 30mm spacing.

hope this helps

Please help me understand, am I correct that this motor will only draw a maximum of 76A no matter what battery you use? I have Dual 2s lipo's 20C 5000maH which gives me 100A. So I would not gain from buying 30C (150A) packs??
   sabongi (45%)
Yes you would, peak performance on motor would suck more than 100 amps! i.e. during hard acceleration!!
7/5/2009
RevoTwoSeven (44%)
yes you have to manually set it up example 4s, 5S, 6s and set you cutoff check you manula it say it all

thank you

Hi,

Just installed this combo in a light application and the motor is getting warmer than I expected. I am running it on 6s1p A123 batteries and the ESC is running fantastic. The motor is getting to about 140F after a run. Any one have any ideas why it is getting warm in my 7-8 lb vehicle?

Thanks!
   drrk24 (75%)
If you use the application at a higher voltage than the gear ratio is specified for, the efficiency will decrease above the lay-ou voltage. This means power loss will increase 1st by the higher power output and by the worse efficiency. -> try a smaller pinion
Motor specs can be seen on the web page mentioned above by POWWA.
   Jeffrey (81%)
140 is fine. Most brushless manufacturers will recommend no more than 170-180 degrees. I believe this is still too high due to the heat being transfered through the bearings. Also that much heat can cause the set screw in the pinion to loosen and can gear damage. Lastly is the safety factor. If you touch a 170 + motor you WILL burn yourself. At 100-130 you will be able to remove your hand before any serious burns occur. I try to keep mine at or below 120. Check your timing as well as your gearing. With the voltage and amperage you are running you should not have to set the timing over 15 degrees. An air hole in the body also helps to pass fresh air across the fan.
   RevoTwoSeven (44%)
anyone running the combo at 6S although it was stated this combo is only for 4S and the 6S is for the 4465SL also any 4465SL version 2.0 coming?? really want to try that. if things are good gonna get another one for my buggy
   Powwa (56%)
I would not recommend trying to run this setup with 6s. But I think HobbyKing should sell the 4465SL motor separately *Hint* Hint* :). I dont know if that motor has a Version 2 but I have read and understand there wasnt a problem with the larger motor only the 3674SL Version 1, but I might have missed something. If the ESC is as good as some ppl say I am starting to believe this might be a mamba killer if the motor problem is sorted out on this Version 2. But to really be the optimum package it should come with the 4465SL motor or each part sold separately so you can pick either the 4465SL or 3674SL with the ESC *Hint *Hint Again :)*.
   RevoTwoSeven (44%)
*powwa
I was thinking that too since the ESC is the same on the 4465sl combo it will be an awesome setup and hence utilizing the 6S configuration. If they carry the 4465sl motor for sure I'll get one to try. (Please do stock the 4465sl Motor) I read a post running 3S in parallel configuration I MIGHT try this too but as for the manual suggested it need 4S configuration. Eitherway I can't wait to try the 4465SL motor togerther with the 150A ESC.

I do not understand much English, but it works or not with 6s?
6/19/2009
Mary (20%)
These motors are known to not work right on four cells so if you ru them with two or three they will be fine
   Powwa (56%)
Know to not work on 4s ? where is that info on the web ? here its says up to 4s (it is the same motor EZRUN-3674SL Motor)

*** WARNING Two Weeks Old and Now It Breaks ****

I was the first to post about this kit. First impressions were good however my worse fears were realized when on a normal run my e-maxx 3905 suddenly stopped. I thought it was the pack low voltage however it turns out the packs has lots of extra charge and the motors is behaving very eradicly. It appears to be cogging however regardless of how much throttle I give it just sounds like it does not have enough energy to turn over the motor.

I'm using two 2s1p 4000 mAh Zippy packs wired in series.

I sent HC a support email two days ago and no answer. The live support is basically a sales support channel so no help there. They told me I would need to send this back for their analysis. I figure it will take over a month for a round trip since they need to send it back to the manufacturer for inspection.

I asked for an advanced replacement but the live support said they don't do that.

I should have realized this type of support was to be expected for a Chinese company. They take you money, charge you $$$$ for shipping and basically make it painfully difficult for you to get any support.

*** Did I mention this was a two-week old motor ****
   Mary (20%)
Do u think it is the esc or the motor? Also if it is the motor did you run it at over 4s lipo at one time. Because i heard they are only good for up to 4s lipo.
   insang (78%)
he said 2s1p in series which is 4s. I just ordered this too.. I hope I dont get a dud.
   insang (78%)
However. what C's are you running? I'll be 2x running 2650mAh 4s1p 20c-30c in parallell. so I get 5300mAh at 40-60C.

if the ESC is capable of drawing 150A constant, you want at least double that for batteries.
   Powwa (56%)
If you run two 2650mAh 20- 30 batteries in parallel you will get 5300mAh but NOT 40-60 c it will still be 20-30 c
   insang (78%)
if you take in to consideration this is same any other electronics, the parallell sysmte should have 1/2 draw on each pack, while it won't make the batteries 40-60C it will be equipvalent since draw on each pack is 1/2. I hope that makes sense.
   insang (78%)
actually my mistake ignore my comment.. lol..
