This superbly finished and very scale Spitfire is a perfect opponent for our BF109E & FW190D and looks fantastic in it's Mediteranean/North Africa colour scheme. Supplied with a display stand, the paint and decals make for a striking looking model that is nicely finished off with a three bladed prop and lot's plastic molded parts including optional 500lb bombs, exhaust stacks, radiators, etc. This little PNF Spit is scale enough to put it on display in any part of the home without the wife complaining......too much.
Flight performance is excellent, all control surfaces are hinged and the pre-fitted servo's are more than up to the job. The pre-fitted brushless motor gives heaps of power for a genuine fighter like performance and build time is minimal thanks to it's Plug N Fly configuration, also included is a decent screwdriver to help with construction and a spare prop and clevises just in case. Cheap and fast to put into the air yet a real looker and performer, all this model needs is a FW190D or BF109E from the range to dogfight with!
I need help setting the ESC on this plane. I have a FlySky CT6B transmitter. When I have the throttle at low on the transmitter with it on, then plug in the receiver battery, the receiver beeps twice, the ESC beeps once then the motor fires up to about 20% power. I've tried starting with throttle high and the motor goes to full with no fail safe. I can't get the motor to shut off at all.
Hi,
I have a slight *-) problem. During unpacking I found a metal cylinder, about 2cm in length and about 1cm diameter in the box. There was still glue on it, so I assume it was somewhere mounted in the plane for trimming purposes. But where? I could not find the position.
Any hints welcome.
Well, I thought I could compensate the missing metal cylinder with a bit of elevator and a bigger battery... I could not, so the aircraft went nose up right after throwing it, lost speed and dived over the left wing right into the ground :-( Write off.
So, please, Hobbyking, use a bit more glue... And if you are modifying the plane anyway (which I think is a really nice one), change the color from copper to brown and add removable wheels.
It sounds like you have not told the ESC where full throttle is.
If it just beeps.
Try turn on your tx and set throttle to full then plug in you esc to battery you should get a different set of beeps when they finish return throttle to zero stick.
Then try it.
Keep hold of the plane though just to be on safe side.
yes I purchased another plan and used the ESC from the new plane to the old one and it worked. Looks like its a bad ESC....Support was worthless and I ask for an rma and was ignored
the esc wont work with some receivers like my flysky or the tx/rx i used from my dynam but i had no problem with my turnigy 9xv2 waiting for hk t6a v2 rx to try with 9xv2 as turnigy rx is way too big to fit
A good battery and radio setup if you are trying to keep it cheap is this battery Turnigy 800mAh 2S 20C Long Lipo Pack and this radio Hobby King 2.4Ghz 4Ch Tx & Rx V2 (Mode 2). Hope I could help.
Hey Guys, This is my first warbird other than the PZ UM Trojen and when I fly the spit it is ok for a few seconds then goes into a spiral and crashes. I assume this is something I am doing wrong as it flies fine until then. What am I doing wrong?
Hi everyone :) I ordered this plane and was wondering if it was worth using a prop saver on it. I have read the props break often. If so what size prop saver would I use. Regards Rob
hi. i've lost a few props on bungled launches, but never on landing. my advice is, if you get your CoG right, and launch well, the stock props will be good. I use underarm and throw it like you're pitching in softball (ie kinda hard). Make sure you cut throttle just before you touchdown on landing and you'll be fine
Lol, decaf :) that is funny, but your right. The old ticker will be pumping fast enough. Hey what sort of flight time am I looking at with a 850 nano tech pack in it?
I'm using the 800 long stick batteries, and i set the timer at say 7.5 mins or so. There's usually enough left in there for a couple more go rounds. Do a pre flight test with stopwatch.
I find most of the time am at ~80% throttle or so. I'm now up to i think ~ 20 flights, on my SECOND one of these [first one died due to me not reconnecting elevator lnkage properly, then ploughing it into the ground]. It took about 6 flights to get comfortable with it but now its my favorite plane in the hangar. By far
Hi Tim, will do mate but it might be a while. I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff. I'm only flying a bixler 2 at the moment. Been into nitro and brushless cars for years. I have flown coaxial and single blade helies (with not much luck i might add) and i have only just started on the planes. When I do get around to flying these what do you recommend DR and Expo settings to be. I gather these are going to be real twitchy.
i dont have expo on my transmitter so cant help you there. in terms of the throw for the servos, i'd set the ailerons about half way up ( you'll see what i mean when you look at the wing). I have the elevator at full throw. pretty brave going from a bixler to this straight up: its going to seem really fast . dont be too scared by my comments on twitchiness - only takes a few good flights to get the hang of it.
Thanks so much for your advice. What would you recommend as a good next step up from a bixler? I'm in no hurry. Let me know what HK has that would be a good next level for me. Regards Rob :)
well, i started a few years back with a simulator and then went straight to the 1.2m PZ warbirds (brushed motors in those days). Simulators are really good for getting used to changing orientations and practicing different maneuvers . Plus each crash is free :) .
The 1.2m warbirds (something like e.g durafly corsair), are good if you have the space to fly it in. slower roll rate, you can see it further away etc. I'd say , partic if you are wanting to get into helis, to definitely get a simulator. Up front investment but savings down the track !
The Spitfire is in the UK warehouse people and has been for a while now, just in case anyone else see's this post so i'm not having a dig at you Martin, just letting you and others know that the UK warehouse now have this one in stock thats all, what a great little flier she is too so you will be well pleased with it and especially at this price. *-)

Check your servo's on the ground for a few minutes before flying, I had a faulty intermittent one on my elevator I found out about the hard way! (4 nose dives), and make sure your flying fast enough to keep it in the air and your cg is right.
search micro retracts on r c g r o u p s. they are $10 for a pair, and a micro servo has plenty of power to operate them. might be a bit small for this plane, so maybe you will have to make your own a little bigger but with the same type design.
HobbyKing what are you doing to me,what with all these sweet little planes coming in,my other half will go mad when i put my next order in,thats when we get the little Stuka and when will that be??? Thats one sweet looking Spitty and she can't moan to much about this one as the price is sweet too *-)
Ok thanks for the heads up on that Anthony now could you please tell us when will we see the mini STUKA in stock please???? Oh and i just got your account credit, well it was the best answer lol.
You and my both Startazz... I'm in that exact same boat with you. Waiting... checking...waiting... checking... come on...STUKA.. Though I may just grab this one too...
Damn i hope there isn't to many of us waiting on that sweet Stuka, because i just know i'll be one of the ones who miss will out on the first shipment lol, still there are some nice ones in the same size but i was hoping to get about three of them all at the same time the Stuka comes in
I'm a Warbird/Scale nut, I just really appreciate the original machines... but to see such a unique model (STUKA)in that size and detail makes for a very interested purchase... Since it's a Hobby King plane, I'm sure they will get a nice allotment in.
Yeah me too mate i've got a few video's on YouTube with my warbirds,i've got the same user name on there as on here (startazz)take a look if you like,if you have videos on YT let me know and i'll have a look at yours too
LOL, so being a platinum member isn't worth the paper it's on then but i'm sure me being Anthony Hands brother won't carry no weight then Sorry i had to drop that in Ant.
Ahh the memories of the days when I was a lowly Platinum member waiting months for stock to arrive and weeks to be delivered. Antony told me about the family rift its sad that you still think he has feelings for you. I am sure you will enjoy the Spitfire. www.link

Didn't he tell you we made up last month? oh well i guess you don't know him as well as you thought LOL. I think i'll enjoy a bigger and better Spitfire next month coming from a USA company but thought his one would go well with the STUKA when it comes in *-)
Scott in the case of my two Spitfires I have found the ailerons very unresponsive when you first hand launch it, then once it builds up speed the aileron response is fine. So for these two models I actually use high rate on launch then go to a lower rate for flight unless you want a quicker roll rate. SO in short I do not know whether this is a common trait with these models or my two models. Otherwise it flies like a warbird, ie don't get slow in turns or it will stall. A common occurrence when turn onto to final to land.
My Spitfires CoG is currently at 39mm back from the leading edge measured at the wing root while using a Turnigy 2S800 battery. The CoG range is from 35 to 40mm.
Interesting - I found which particular Spitfire EN315 was - North Africa, March-May 1943, Flt. Lt. Skalski, "C" Flight, 145 Squadron ("C" flight was the "Polish Fighting Team" - most squadrons only had 2 Flights). Quite a popular subject among the plastic modeling crowd, perhaps because there is photo documentation.
There is a Wikipedia article on Skalski and the Polish Fighting Team.
I was puzzled by the blue undersides, it looked a lot darker than the usual Duck Egg Green, turns out that the Desert color scheme used a different blue altogether.
The darker, richer blue used in the desert was Azure Blue. Mark.

mine arrived 2 days ago and I have found a piece of steel rod approximately 3/8 inch by just over 1 inch loose in the box. It has foam glued to it as if it has broken away from the model. can anyone advise if it belongs in the plane and where it goes? Otherwise it looks alovely model.

Outstanding. A very attractive plane, nice enough to use as a room decoration. Assembled as shown the C of G is in the right place, and even the first flight was good, if a little twitchy. It flies fast so throttle back as soon as you altitude. As others have pointed out - forget the three blade prop as usea two blade, which means you can't use the spinner. Very good value and a very nice little plane.
Now go and shoot downthe 109!

What a lovely aeroplane. Just a joy to fly with no vices. It is rather fast, very agile and gee that propeller is though. I hope the ME109 is equally as good as I intend on purchasing one.
