If i run a 1100kv motor with a 2200 mah 3s battery what prop sholud i use?
geemannz  19 points - 5/21/2013

what motor and esc would u guys recomend for this plane?
Francis  12 points - 5/12/2013

I purchased this plane from a friend. Put it together with minor problems. Took it out on its maiden flight and the wings folded. The balsa spar that came with the kit isn't strong enough. Needs to be replaced with something stronger like carbon fibre. Not HK fault. Other than that, it is a great plane to fly, also a good begginers plane too. I would definately buy this plane again in the future, and get a better flight time of more than 4mins by changing out the balsa spar for a carbon one.

Has anyone tried to use nitro engine on it, or did anyone know where i could find plans to build one?
John  2 points - 3/29/2013

i have several complaints about this plane first the second outboard wing rib is not cut for the main spar the only way you can fit the main spar and the wings is to either cut the main spar or cut the wing open to cut the rib not satis factory the to locating pegs on the wings do not line up with the holes on the fusalarge.but the biggest problem is the tail the locating holes are out of line on the rear wing it is not stiff enough they flap like a birds with any load mine were warped when the came out of the box the onky way you could make a sucessful plane out of this s**** the tail completly and make anew stronger one i am asking hobby king for my money backon this model

why may PREDATOR is easy stall when i fly in low speed or not to hingh? sory may englis not good
 jure 1 points
baecouse of narrow wings that do not support low-speed.. same thing as glider FOX
 ERIC 12 points
These planes tend to tip stall very easily. A flaperon mix in your transmitter helps a lot wit take offs and landings. I finally added a FY30A Gyro and it flies like a dream now. I also added a carbon fiber rod to the wind spar when building it.
native american  1 points - 3/13/2013

No it does not. Nor does it seem to be in stock when ordered anyway. even after its paid for.
native american  1 points - 3/13/2013

Why would I be sent 4 emails saying the predator is in stock, 1 after I ordered it, Receive order and payment confirmation and be be told after the fact that the Predator UAV is out of stock? Especially when it still shows to be in stock at the warehouse I ordered it from. I ghostwrite RC reviews for a few mags. Is this a normal op. procedure for this company? If so, readers need to know. whiteriverelk*Yahoo****

Does the radio and engine come with it ?
 Fanatic 21 points
No. It doesn´*t. Only the plane. You must buy motor, esc, servos, etc
Miguel Angel  5 points - 3/7/2013

does it has the hinges, horns and stuff like that in the way I mount my engine servos and Rx, and its redy to fly, or I will need something else?
335drvr  5 points - 3/6/2013

Why can't I write a review, not very favorable on this aircraft. I purchased it from US warehouse and received it on Monday. Not bad considering they estimated Thursday this week. It arrived well packaged and unless decals were included, all parts were there. Once I can write a review, I will give more thoughts on this aircraft.
 Fanatic 21 points
You must write your review in he same warehouse you purchased the item
Carlos  1 points - 2/20/2013

you need a at least 200w motor, and it is good to have at least 200 wats per pound, 150w being the least. some simulator time and this plane is fine for beginner. most likley you will use a 350w motor with a 40amp esc and a 11.1v lipo should do it
 Steve_B 83 points
200W per lb.. ! That's crazy. Most planes will fly on 50W per lb, they will do good aerobatics on 100W/lb, they will have unlimited vertical climb on 150W/lb and 200W/lb will pull the wings off many models.

does somone know how much i have to pay when i have all the electronics? (i have an tx-rx)
 simplyG 231 points
Depending on the set up, but I believe for decent servos, motor and ESC you can manage for under 40$¡* Look at a 2836-2200kv motor, 40A ESC and a 7x5 prop. For this model its worth investing in metal gear servos.
Skymax  34 points - 2/3/2013

I WAS interested in this plane but it seems apart from a few serious modders most ppl are not satisfied with the freight condition, wings falling off, different parts to advertised and design flaws that all must be overcome. I would rather pay more for a higher quality complete Kit where all the parts fit together without guesswork or modification.

Is there a manual that comes with building this model? and what would I need to purchase and use to have this operational?

P, this is an advise contribution, dude. What you did was to copy and paste my answer from above. Quite lame, I think.

Because you are supposed to contribute, and you are not.

Any suggestions on wing servos I could use. I have some blue arrows Do 5010mg ( strong enough?) and some hitec HS-125mg wing servos but at 23g a piece. Too heavy?
John  1 points - 12/17/2012

Help.....As beautiful as it may look in the box I would like to know where I can down load a manual for the Predator, sadly it came with no manual, and looking at the model I will require it for construction.
seedo  103 points - 11/13/2012

Dear All, its a beautiful plane but sadly it is not for FPV, its just not proper, unless u just want to put a TX and a cam Thats all.
 Pumpkinheaddelux 125 points
Why not?
 seedo 103 points
Very small space available not enough for FPV equipment and lots of modding required specially the wings, the wings does not attach firmly to the fuselage of the plane.
Daniel  1 points - 10/15/2012

i need a list of all the things needed for the predator plz reply :L
 Dan O. 402 points
You'll need a motor, ESC, battery, radio, servos, and anything else like glue or tools to build it. If you haven't built anything before, this is NOT a good first plane.
 callianis 41 points
As Dan says, this is not a plane for newbies as there will be cutting, fitting, gluing, wiring, AND figuring out what kind of gear you need (power to weight ratio, prop sizes, etc). It can be mind boggling. A nice fellow has made a build log that does recommend what type of equipment you could use - here www.link
ARMYMEDIC209  2 points - 9/12/2012

OK...I have a kit now. Does anyone have a suggestion as to motor, esc and prop to use for a good performance without causing a sonic boom or tornados behind it from too much power? I want enough power to fly without concern but no over-killing. I would prefer ordering from US warehouse to save on shipping costs. the suggestion I previously received is out of stock so that helped only a little.
 Reper Man 2 points
this is a smaller version i would go with 800kv motor and 60-70 amp esc also use good servos this plane is not performance flyier and with huge wings u want strong reliable servo
 callianis 41 points
There is a build log www.link that suggests 19 - 23A motors and 40a ESC with 9*6 props. This UAV was designed to hang in the air, as opposed to speed and acrobatics (unless you want the wings to fold, don't go doing any dives or spins). It would need a decent run way too. Hand launching would just get you permanent scars like the ones I have ;)
Arrownut  20 points - 9/12/2012

Just recieved my kit today. Upon inspection of the kit, I noticed there were not decals. Can you send me a decal set?
 ARMYMEDIC209 2 points
I also recently received my kit...same as with yours, no decals. Also, do you understand those assembly instructions? they look more like acient hiroglifics to me...pictures only...nothing that tells whether to cut into skin or don't cut. If you can help, it would be greatly appeciated!!!
 Arrownut 20 points
Charles,
If you go to the HobbyKing Forum, URL: www.link I think all your questions will be answered. This forum answered all my question on the Predator. Hope this helps. Good luck.
 Allison 1358 points
Well good on you Arrownut. You have showed us the way. This is the correct use of the Q and A. I just do not like the colour of mine. It is Dark green and white. How is yours??
@rcher  31 points - 9/6/2012

hey guys, bought this plane a while ago, wondering how i should program my TX. is the V-tail what makes i Climb and dive? or do i program the wings to do that? i have the wings program to twist it, and was wondering how to make it dive and climb. Thanks!
 Bellakelpie 63 points
You will need to use a Tx that allows you to select "V Tail" function in the model set up menu. That then moves the tail servo's in the same direction together for up and down (elevator) and one up, one down for rudder.
 callianis 41 points
Or you could buy a V-tail mixer cable if your TX doesn't have V tail function. You can get a few of these from HK.

hi, i want to use it for FPV, can someone recommend motor, esc and prop. overkill is ok. i have a lot loaded in the plane. all fpv gear and 2x batterypack. i want to use a go pro sometimes on the plane. ty:)
 @rcher 31 points
here is a good OVER kill set up. i used a 50a TURAGY motor with a 70 TURAGY trust with bec. and a 10X7 or a 9X9.
ARMYMEDIC209  2 points - 8/1/2012

does it come with ESC? It states motor required but doesn't mention ESC. excuse my lack of experience if the standard is to automatically assume ESC is required also when motor is listed. Also, battery is not mentioned.
 stephanefsx 41 points
you need to buy esc...Tell me wich motor you are going to use and i'll recommend one :)

 stephanefsx 41 points
I would recommend the turnigy 2836-1200kv motor, and a 40 amp esc.
 stephanefsx 41 points
With a 9*6 pusher prop, would be very powerful but not overkill :)
 Glyn R 62 points
Stephane it is not necessary to use pusher prop with brushless motors. Simply put prop on reversed and reverse the motor.

how does this thing flies ?
 Kellyann 16227 points
Mar11 I am not sure if I should answer. I have read what you have said about is other replies. So I will pass here SORRY
 Mar11 2005 points
did really mean anything bad.. but do u really own evry single plane * HK ?
how old r u ?
u r very helpful
 Kellyann 16227 points
Mar11 I own as I said about 123 soon 124 I hope. This one flies like a LARGE power glider. BUT once up in the air how it handle does not matter any more. It is all about how it looks in the sky. The first time I FLIED the whole FIELD and the whole Park stopped and looked in ORE. SO Buy her is you like attention. But if you want a handler not so much. I hope this helps
Mar11  2005 points - 5/8/2012

where is the motor coming ?
 Kellyann 16227 points
Mar11 sorry you question is ""COMING"!!!! Are you asking where to put the motor or what motor??? The motor fits in the rear cowl. Motor Turnigy 2209 28turn 1050kv 15A Outrunner or Turnigy 2217 20turn 860kv 22A Outrunner are recommended!! I hope this helps

40 thumbs up!
This model is slightly larger than another popular 63" wingspan version from other online stores, which had quality issues in some reviews (warped wings reported). Otherwise it appears to be very similar in most aspects including the camouflage colours. Hopefully this Predator flies as good as it looks. I will be installing nose-wheel steering in mine with parts ordered from HobbyKing. Am eagerly waiting for the box to arrive. Hurry up HobbyKing!

This plane has a nasty tendency to tip stall during aileron turns and low speeds! No serious damage as both test flights ended on soft spots at flying field. Plane was set up with Turnigy Aerodrive 1400kV motor, APC 9x6 prop, HXT900 servos, Zippy-R 2200mA Lipo and CG as instructed. AUW 1150gr.

The cool device :),quality of manufacturing quite good but in the first flight there were broken wings from for poor-quality aluminium plates , Be are attentive! Also I recommend it to replace on carbon or qualitative aluminium tube

I got one of these and found the following
The main gear did not arrive with the plane. Presumably it is still on the shipping table where it was placed when they added the extra stuff I ordered into the kit box. One of the 'rod extenders' - clevises - did not have the hole drilled in it. The wing is very thin - Hextronix 9000 leave a small bump I'll post flying info next.
