make sure the prop is not on backwards if you look at the hub for numbers like 5x5 or 6x5 the numbers need to face forward towards motor and balance the plane
Im planing on buying this R.C. plane, for a starter. I was wondering what other things I have to buy, like a receiver, etc. Or if i could buy a ready to fly plane, witch i would buy for extra price. Like ready to fly, meaning, it take it out of the box, turn it on, and fly. Thank you!
Hi Charles, This model is PNF which means plug and fly. Any four channel air radio will work and should come with the receiver, this style of plane or the Bixler which has a RTF (ready to fly, need recommended battery and charger) version would be great choices but for this model you need a 4 channel radio and receiver the Turnigy 6XS is a nice radio that you could use for several models and is easy to program, l have tested them on multi rotors with great success, there are heaps of tips on the HobbyKing forums, YouTube and so on. Go for it mate!
Hi Charles, this plane does require assembly. It took me about 4-5 hours including glue drying time. You will need a 4 channel transmitter and receiver. 4 servos. An 18 amp esc speed controller. A 3s 2200mAh LiPo battery. Tools (allen key set, 2mm drill, thread lock tite, solder and a soldering iron, 4mm diameter heat shrink and long nose pliers). You'll also find it useful to have some velcro, packing tape and high strength fibre tape. If you want something that is ready to fly straight out of the box look for a plane trainer or beginners plane that says RTF (ready to fly). This one is ARF (almost ready to fly). Happy Flying!
*Michael - Thanks very much for all the useful information. I'm anxiously awaiting the plane's arrival. By the way, your point about the perspective from the ground vs. perspective from sitting in the pilot's seat is a really good one. A few years ago I had the chance to attempt to pilot an RC plane but found it very difficult to keep my orientation - actually more difficult than flying a full-scale plane. I didn't want to damage my friend's plane so I quickly gave the transmitter back to him. It should help a lot to try a simulator first.

Hi Robert, These are great planes, an excellent 1st plan. To answer your questions:
1) The foam hinge that they have straight out of the box works really well, just make sure you flex the hinge by 45 degrees in each direction a few times to loosen up the joint before you connect the control rods.
2) You shouldn't have to replace or extend the motor wires, just solder a 4mm female connector on the end of each wire to connect it to the ESC (speed controller, which you will solder 3mm male connectors to).
3) You won't need an additional wing spar, the one supplied is ample strength when glued in position.
4)Just some normal packing tape that you buy at the grocery store will work really well.
5)The wing halves don't need any reinforcement, just glue them in position with the glue supplied.
6)LED's will look great for night flying. I've never used LED's myself so I couldn't say what are best. I guess it depends on the effect you are after.
7)I've not use electronic stabilisers myself. This is a very stable plane already, and I'm sure you'll learn to fly it quite rapidly with a little instruction or time in an RC simulator flying for the perspective of being on the ground not in the aircraft. A 6 channel will be fine for the 4 control servos 2 auxiliaries. If you want 3 auxiliaries as mentioned you will need 7 channels or more. The turnigy 9 channel is great.
8) I've had not trouble with the nose breaking off , even with a fairly heavy ground impact. I have put some high strength fibre tape along the bottom of the plane on the ground contact points to stop it from getting all scuffed though.
9) I wouldn't put any glass fibre on the bottom of the plane, just the tape as mentioned.
10) the CG location needs to be pretty well right on the centre of pressure on the front wings, even for a beginner, otherwise she'll nose up and down and stall.
11)Buy a Turnigy 2200mAh battery, you'll have a longer flight time and it will slot straight into the nose section perfectly and the CG will be in the right place.
12) The hobby king Turnigy key chain camera works well. Just get some peel-n-stick velcro to mount it.
All the terms I have used for you are searchable here, so I help that helps.

Hi Robert, good for you mate it looks like a great choice and having had very similar planes to this l can assure you, for a beginner its an excellent choice and when you have great first hand advice from people like Michael above it should really help. Make sure you find a large suitable area and really get to understand your controls rudder, ailerons, elevator etc. look on YouTube and forums for more tips for your first flight and stay calm (easier said than done sometimes!) This is such a great hobby - flying of any type - l am a multi rotor nut now but love the planes too. Best of luck Robert.
not sure of your problem, find the ring that comes with proppeller that is tightest on the motor shaft, super glue the ring to the recess in propeller, but propeller on shaft and use rubber ring to hold it on using the bolts on the motor shaft

no, the battery is not included with the plane, you must purchase separately. I use Lipo battery 2200 mah 25c zippy.the 2200mha is the better battery for the axn.you need to slightly widen the cavity with a blade, its not big thing only maybe 2mm each side.a bit of velcro to hold the battery. do not forget to buy a battery charger Lipo.Turnigy Accucel-6 (Product ID: ACC6) is a good charger for Lipo.

also when you have learnt to fly if you want to make it a bit faster and have a better clime rate just put a 6/5 prop on it

the Turnigy Accucel-6 don't have one and is a pain in the backside I wouldn't recommend putting the 2200 mah batt stick with the batts it was made for no point in chopping up the plane just for a few extra mins flying if you get good enough like me you can get an hour from an 1800mah batt

I need some help deciding which plane to get as my first plane. I have zero flying experience, and am looking for something that handles well, and is a good starting point for a beginner. I am tossing up between this one, and the Bixler 2, but have read a lot about the Bixler 2 having problems with the screws for the wings, and with the engine being unbalanced.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
both are good planes, if you choose the axn you wont regret it, it is a great plane to learn on, it does have a tendency to dive a little on launch but if you watch the videos posted for this model on launching you wont have any trouble

1) Plug the bind plug into the battery port on the receiver.
2) plug the battery pack into port 3 with the brown (negative)to the edge of the receiver. The LED light on the receiver will start blinking.
3)push the bind button on the back of the transmitter and while continuing to depress the bind button the transmitter, turn on the transmitter.
4) The light on the receiver will stop flashing. This means it is bound and ready to go.
5) if you have a satellite receiver now leaving the transmitter on, plug the bind plug into its bind port and the battery into the battery port and the LED will flash and go solid straight away. You can then turn everything off.
Now on the receiver board channel 1 is for the ESC and motor, 2 is for the ailerons, 3 is for the elevator and 4 is for the rudder.

Can anyone tell me how big the original box is ? I want to buy a plane soon when being in Hong Kong, but it (in the original box) will have to fit into my luggage in the airplane.
Once it have been assembled for first time, you can disassemble the wing for transportation, right ? But is it two half wings or a full wing ?
I still hesitate between this one,The Bixler V2, the Sky Easy Glider, and the Walrus. I'm rather like a newbie in planes.

I dont have the original box but its pretty big, I doubt it would fit in a suitcase. but you would get it in one without the box, the wing is in two halves and the tail plane isnt installed so it could all be packed flat

yes it can be assembled without glue and dismantled again, the wings snap together, but after a while this becomes loose, there are various methods of holding axn wings in, I suggest you google search for axn rc groups web site and have a read thru that.

I am very happy with this plane. Built was very easy, nothing much to do really. I prefer to fly a bit nose heavy so I go with 2200mah 3s. Tried also 1800mah 3s but it was a bit tail heavy for my taste. BTW plenty of power on stock motor. If you cut and re-hinge elevator and ailerons you get plenty of throw. Can do outside loop also. Rolls are a bit tricky thought, might need a little ruder to perform well. Make sure you are high enough before you try it. Oh and of course it can fly inverted fairly good.

Good value. Flies well. PROS: Quick assembly(glue incl.) Spare prop. Wings detach. Good wind penetration with 2200 mah. 25 plus min. flights on 3S 2200mah. Good control authority. Strong motor. Rugged. CONS: Sparse instructions. Must enlarge slot for 2200mah battery. Stiff control surfaces. Motor/prop are a bit noisy. Seemed tail heavy with 1300 mah battery. Above comments after 8 flights.

bloody good plane, slight problem during outside loop at full throttle at 120feet - battery came loose (plummeted to earth) -plane just floated down - NO DAMAGE . amazing !!! tie down battery if you want to try aerobatics

seems to be a good plane for fpv, all mods are done and it is cheaper than buying an ez at my local store even with shipping. the fuse is glued, that's the only bad point, it will be more difficult to install telemetry onboard, btw, it's a good deal and available, thanks HC

Aiuleron and elevator hinge lines are tight enough to strip the servo gears. You'll want to cut thru and re-hinge. A Zippy 3S*1300 installed on edge and shoved all the forward will just bring this into balance. A Zippy 3S*2200 (also installed on edge) as far aft as possible balances it a little nose heavy, but still fylable. Chamfer the aft end of the battery compartment top rails 45 degrees for easier battery installation and removal
