What's the latest on your trucks ?

Are they back on track or are you still waiting for parts ?

Please tell me if you have found parts that fit but is of a different brand.

I'm thinking of buying this truck but I hesitate a little when I read about the diff gears.

	Funny you should ask. :) Last night I finally got around to getting it all back together with FG diff gears and cups. They are very expensive but bullet proof. With the standard gears they are probably ok providing you do a few things. My diffs exploded because the truck clipped a post at speed which flexed the control arms (they are plastic) enough that the cups pulled out. The FG design relies on the driveshafts holding te cups in the wheel gears of the diff. If they pop out, the gear drops and it's all over. I got around this by making sure the length of all the control arms (they are fully adjustable) is kept short so the cups can't pull out (mine were way too long, my fault). I also placed tape around the drive shafts to create a raised edge that the booots cant push past. This means the boots are always applying pressure on the diff cups. So far I have had no more problems. If you go to the FG diff gears you have to go to FG diff cups. the spline cut OD is bigger. The Rovan cups will not engage the FG wheel diff gears properly. At first they feel they do, but it's only just and they will eventually (about 2 seconds) slip. This truck is definately not a " RTR out of the box" truck. It needs to be stripped down and re-assembled with some thought. if done properly it is a huuuuuuuge amount of fun. I will try to post up some more pics when I can get a chance. By the way as an interim fit I ran mine as a RWD only so the cost of the diff bits wasn't such a sting (I got 1 set at a time). Cups are around 25 bucks each. Diff gears are around 50 bucks a pair (need 2 pairs per diff) You also need the shim washers as the rovan ones are a bit thick for the FG gears and the diff will be very tight. Mark

	No worries Peter. I would love for HK to add both sets of diff gears to the spares listing now that mine is setup properly. I would really like to put stock one's into just the rear diff and run it around to see if they held up ok now. I gave it another short flogging in the back yard last night. Tore a curcular groove in my back lawn. LOL. Held it flat doing doughies and it didn't miss a beat. Now I've just got to play with the carby tuning. It's a bit boggy in midrange. Mark

	Well took it out for another thrash today down the oval. Now it's all run in, it well and truly hammers. Had a tyre start to pull from one of the rims. A bit of CA and it's all good again. I see there are a few more parts starting to come in. The upper control arm threaded adjuster is another thing to keep a couple of spares of. Hit something hard and it will bend. 	Hey Peter, been interstate for work, sorry I missed your post. Yep, the diff Bevel gears are the ones. I would definately consider getting a set of the genuine FG diff gears and diff cups eventually. They are expensive but they seem to be unbreakable. The 14 tooth and 16 tooth gears are also the next weak link. I actually replaced mine with smartech ones. If I get a chance I'll post up details on how to do this. 	Hi Mark Do you have the part numbers for the FG parts you used ? Gears and washers / diff cups My truck diff gears are done as well. I did not even run this truck yet. 	Holy sh*t ! That really stinks, HK should stock some reinforced diffgears for this truck. Haven't started my truck yet but the diffs seems to work so far, when I turn them by hand. I had a totaly different problem. Two of the balls on my left-front driveshaft was not seated correctly. this made it impossible to turn the wheel when the driveshaft was slightly angled down. I had to take out the Dremel and grind them down so I could turn the driveshaft while I was simulating wheel going up/down.
