i would also like to know, hobbyking can't expect to sell many of these new cars without letting us know whether spares will be available.

Yes i know that but alloy uprgrades from smartech/nutehc are a lot cheaper than the FG ones ... so it would be a good idea to stock those alloy upgrades compatible with a large range of 1/5 cars ...
