Hi,
Simple question (I hope). Charging LiFe batteries through the balance connector only. For Tx batteries especially it is convenient to not have to disconnect and reconnect the power lead. Not so important for Rx packs as its not so difficult to plug through the switch harness for power in and then to the balance plug. A multi output charger would be nice so TX and Rx packs could be charged at the same time. Which HobbyKing chargers are capable of doing this? Thanks in advance, Mark |

The only ones I know of that charge through the ballance conector are the Revolectrix Cellpro range of chargers. Hobbyking only carry one at the moment and it's out of stock at the moment but according to the product page it should be back very soon. That one is the Cellpro 10S found HERE. It is a bit expensive but people I know who own them swear by them. You can find that charger elsewhere plus the smaller cheaper Cellpro ones. I won't add a link but if you google it you shouldn't have any trouble.
As for multiple batteries, there's several that do that in the range they carry here. The newest and most powerfull one is THIS ONE HERE. I bought one of those myself recently and so far I'm very happy with it. You can't charge through the ballance conections though. |

You can make up a lead that will allow you to charge the battery through the balance port using any normal 4-button charger.

Oops! I forgot that Cellpro can charge 2 batteries at once so might just be perfect. It's not as flexible as a lot of the others in one way though.
" For Battery types: Lithium Polymer (1s to 10s balanced), Lithium Ion (1s to 10s balanced), Lithium Manganese (1s to 10s balanced), A123 (LiFePO4) (1s to 10s balanced) ". It's perfect as long as you don't want to charge Nicads or other than the battery types mentioned above. |

.
By doing that would that give a decent charger like for example an ICharger all the benefits of a Cellpro? EDIT: It's a bit dumb of me not to have thought of that because that's exactly what I did myself with a couple of A123 receiver packs I made up a while ago .Edited by Sawdust - 24/May/2012 at 9:16am |

Thanks for the replies guys ... much appreciated. So how would I go about doing this? I have a HK 4 output charger that will do LiFe packs and 3 swallow charger that don't have LiFe listed as an option.

That's the one I made up to suit my purpose. On the flight pack the wire that would normaly be the signal wire but unused on a flight pack goes to the point where the positive of one battery is soldered to the negative of the other battery. The XT60 on the input end is purely a matter of convenience to me. It just means I don't have to change anything at the charger but would be better if anything with banana plugs.
