Hi guys,
Just finished my first quad. I had some advice from you guys with regards to motors and stuff and I have just spent the last week building it.

Pics below:

I have test flown it and it was OK but I have a few questions.

1) I have had to reverse the rudder, elevator & aileron channels on my transmitter otherwise everything was backwards. **** I have deleted therest of this question as I figured out the answer. I have also read that I am correct to reverse the channels in my radio.

2) The quads 'nose' - (the white blade at the front) keeps wanting to turn towards the right. I have adjusted the gyro but cannot seem to get it to 'lock on' forwards like a heli would, is this normal?

3) How stable should the quad be? Should it be hands off hovering or am I expecting too much here? Do you still need to 'fly' it? A I have heard from lots of people saying that quads are so stable... Mine is good but I couldn't let og of the controls or I would end up in a hedge!

Thanks for any info guys.

Some FCs come with the head lock feature and auto stability (Rabbit), but the one you are using does not... I struggled with the KK/HK boards and then paid a bit more for one with the extra features.. Flew it first time, so easy... HTH...

as mentioned you need a board with accelerometers for hands of hovering and auto level.

with what you have as i do to you need to continually make corrections to where you want to be. you can use your trim though which i do once initially air born to even out any drifting one way or the other but these dynamics change during flight so you change them while flying as need.

hobbyking sell one controller that hands off its about $120 and is often out of stock.

In answer to your question on stability with a bit of tweaking you can get it to hover hands off. Height will vary slow, slowly up or down, this is battery related. I know my understanding of the pots caused problems.
By the way I have the same Quad and replaced the arms with 12mm alum tubing from bunnings . Perfect fit and no more motor twisting.

I have built a similar Quad and have also difficulties to get it stable. Will soon update it with the stability system FY-90Q. How did you stack up your equipment on it, not much place on the platform !
