Bruce (who is the guru for all things radio) recommends this:
"...Don't bother with a lipo, use one of the LiFePO4 transmitter packs (the HobbyKing 1500mAH or the Zippy 1800mAH). ..." |

Use a LiFe - NOT a Lipo

Why a LiFe instead of a lipo? aslong as the voltage is not overkill it shouldnt make a difference right? |

You should get a LiFe battery for your transmitter!
First reason is that the LiPo pack has a much too big initial voltage. That puts load on the transmitters internal voltage regulators and might fry them on permanent use. The LiFe has a much lower voltage which is better. Second reason is that LiFe packs don't get damaged (at least not that easy) if you run them low. For instance if you forget to turn off your transmitter or if you the transmitter for a long time without a fully charged battery you risk to completely discharge the battery. Do this with a LiPo and it will die. A LiFe battery can (under normal circumstances) be recharged without problems. |
