I'm building Trex 450 Pro clone and I wanted to use these HXT900 servos on cyclic. As many people say "Can't be beat for the price!", so I decided to buy these.
First, I ordered few of these servos from eBay, they worked fine. (I didn't know about HK store yet). Then I saw on HK these servos for great price. Product description claims that these servos are original from HexTronik (Taiwan/Japan) and not cheap clones from ebay. At this point I was worried that my servos from ebay could be cheap clones. That is reason why I wanted to replace these ebay servos with these from HK. But when I connected these servos to my Turnigy 9X receiver I noticed that movements are not as smooth as they are on ebay servos. When I try to move stick very slow I can notice that ebay servo turns 2-3 times while servo from HK turns just once. I tried to count movements of both servos and realized that XHT900 from ebay has two times better resolution than this servo from HK. (25 movements on HK servo, 52 movements on ebay servo) Here is a video that shows this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1R4WneEqIU I also did a test with Arduino, that way I can move servos linearly and enough slow that this problem can be noticed easily. Here it is: http://youtu.be/rByDOv2TBa0 I'm worried about quality of these servos :( Using these servos on cyclic of my Trex450 Pro could be problematic. Leveling swashplate could be very difficult because servos cannot be adjusted very precisely. Has anyone else been having similar problems with these servos? |

Hi,
I use HXT900 servos a lot and thay have been exellent for me. In both of your videos, the servo with white servo arms has the highest reslution and is the smoothest. The servo with the black servo arms is not as good. Hobbyking HXT900 servo arms are white, did you put the wrong arms on the servos before the video??? Can you tell me which is the HK servo and which is the ebay servo. |

They are slightly different servos, the AUS model has teflon bushings whereas the INT model has carbon composite. |

Yes, but why the difference in resolution and smothness. For many years Hobbykings HXT900 had a very good reputation for quality(resolution), I just hope there not cutting corners just to save two cents. |

Sounds like the days of the reliable HXT900 are over folks. At least the good quality run lasted a lot longer than the HK401B gyros.
Maybe all the good reliability fairy dust is being sprinkled over HK's orange cased servos now. Edited by Sooty - 01/Aug/2012 at 12:37pm |

Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes & dreams.

As I'm unable to use these servos on my Trex450Pro, I wanted to disassemble them to see what is inside. And look what I found:
So, these are not HexTronik definitely... these are Tower Pro :/ I'm very sad that I discovered this, I had very good deals with HobbyKing, but from now I cannot believe them. Here are more pictures of PCB
