After a small order break (some months) I made a new order.
After they sent it I got the first surprise because it is a new shipping compony named scs-express.
Now I got an eMail from them telling me that they want to tranfer it through Customs and I should pay Customs via Paypal. Well thats not really bad. But unfourtunately they want 25,89€. If it would have traveled with HKPost or Swissair (wich I thought it would be) I would have payed 123,21$/1,2234*0,19=19,14€ for customs. So they want 6,75€ more. The things I have bought cost 93,22$ and they want 8,26$ extra. Thats near 10% of the cost extra.
I googled a bit and it doesn't seem like I can do much about it. Only thing would be to loose the shipment and make a payapal complaint.
But I read something that you can ask chat not to sent with scs-express.
Because of that I would advise you to do just that.
For that shipment I will pay that extra cost but I don't want to pay extra money in a dubios way. Their eMail is not worth of a company(there is even a jpeg in it so it will be filtered by many filters) and the calculation of the cost is not made clear.
Have a nice day

Manfet that' a service charge for carrying that big parcel to the customs guys and making the customs declaration. Same thing like EMS here in germany but I think can remember EMS takes more.

It's not done by Hobby King - it's the customs and mail service in your country that does it (it's the same everywhere in Europe)
I don't care what it says on the profile - I'm so NOT GB!

@mabaa I got that service for free with HKPost/DeutschePost (paid the VAT at my door)

@Daithi did you read my post, it really shows the difference and it is HobbyKing which chooses the shipping company.

It's still down to the shipping company - they act as brokers for the customs. If you incur customs charges and VAT, YOU have to pay that to YOUR tax people. Now whether there is VAT due depends on the value of the package. If it's under a certain sum, then there is no charge. Over that, then you have to pay the VAT

It has nothing to do with Hobby King - just the import regulations where you live

@Daithi Did you read what I wrote? I have no problem with paying the VAT but I do have a problem with paying extra charges from a very dubious shipping companys who doesn't even show a clear calculation and writes this in it's mail: "Your parcel had been cleared from EU region by bulk declaration under one consolidated shipment in order to minimize the clearance costs."
Well those clearance costs are much higher than the old shipping companies where I paid the same price for shipping. I would have had cheaper costs, clear calculations and good service with the old shipping company because of that I think to use this shipping company is a mistake.

You're still missing it - no matter who the parcel is sent by (HK Post, Swiss Post, Singapore Post or whoever) when it arrives at the destination country, the customs hand it over to the delivery service.

It's nothing to do with Hobby King - it's the delivery service in YOUR country

Anything sent to me from Hong Kong is handed to 'Parcel Force' when it arrives who will then hit me with the 'handling charge' no matter what shipping option I requested

The Partner of HK Post in Germany is DHL so if your parcel arrives the customs hand it over to DHL, with no extra charge, EMS has a contract with the GDSK germany not DHL and that GDSK guys take the extra handling charge of 25 euro. So it's not a Hobbyking problem, it's a problem of EMS and their german partner.
I don't know the parner of SCS Expres, but would be interesting to know.

@Daithi You described the way it is for you. And how it was for me. Except that we in Germany didn't have to pay handling charges for customs. DHL/Deutsche Post does that without charge.
But with scs-express it is not that way. I will add the Mail I got to the bottom. The tracking of scsexpress states that the package is still in HK.

@mabaa The partner of scsexpress is UPS. And you can get around the 25€ of the GDSK guys by doing the customs yourself
. And it is a problem of HK by choosing SCS and not HKPost because I will want to avoid that hasse in the future and definitly get a better look at alternatives for HK. They definitly look brighter because of that.

I probably should have written that I did not choose express or EMS shipping. It was sent via Air Parcel 1.5kg for 29,99$
