    Posted: 14/Dec/2009 at 12:58am
Hi all!
I got this gyro and it does not work properly. It jitters the hell out of all 2 the servos tested..
>1<
>2<
in tail lock mode it slowly turns the servo to max out and any input is jittery and a mess at best.. I have tried 2 different digital servos and i get the same issue with all of them.. I tried every setting including the sensitivity settings to try and stop the trembling, this was not the main problem, the main problem was the fact that when it is was set up in tail lock mode it drifted slowly to maximum deflection and stayed there. And when you switch it to tail lock mode, the tail wags and kicks to the left with each wag. I have tried resetting the centering on the servo to no avail, I have adjusted the gain setting from 0-100% the tail wagging remains, just gets more violent and slower the further down the gain setting is.. Am I missing something ?? Did someone else actually get one of these working ?? Do you have the same problem with about a 1-degree jitter all the time ? Cry

I would like to know why I got this gyro and it does not work properly. It jitters the hell out of all the servos tested.. in tail lock mode it slowly turns the servo to max out and any input is jittery and a mess at best.. I have tried 3 different digital servos and one analog servo and get the same issue with all of them.. I have tried everything in the settings and get no joy.. any clues before I have to fork out more money to send it back ??

 -Redsands- (100%)
Servo's tested with..
- MKS DS8910 (on 760us / 333hz pulse rate)
- MKS DS9660 (on 1520us / 250hz and also on 1520us / 333hz)
- Spektrum DS821 (on 1520us / 250hz and also on 1520us / 333hz)
- Turnigy TG9 (on 1520us / 250hz and also on 1520us / 333hz)

Is it really better than the Assan GA-410?(Which is Goood!:))

 jezza (100%)
Are you using a Corona Dual conversion Tr, it might be the issue

 -Redsands- (100%)
Sorry jezza no, I am using a Spektrum DX7 tr. I have sent it back for a replacement now..

 Anton (100%)
It is checked up with Futaba 10C and servo Futaba 9254, all works, trembling is adjusted by sensitivity, and sulphur transition in extreme position, this normal phenomenon.

 -Redsands- (100%)
Sorry I forgot to mention that I tested it also with this servo tester and had the same result. ***********hobbycity****/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8296
As I said in my first post, I tried every setting including the sensitivity settings to try and stop the trembling, this was not the main problem, the main problem was the fact that when it is was set up in tail lock mode it drifted slowly to maximum deflection and stayed there.. Anton I would love to see the one I sent back put into a heli, I am 100% certain it would not be pretty!

 -Redsands- (100%)
Just in reply to Anton also, there is no sensitivity setting on this gyro.. here is my update also. I received a replacement to the one that was not working, it works better and I can get it to work semi-ok in normal mode.. the tail servo MKS DS8910 (on 760us / 333hz pulse rate) still jitters non stop regardless of ANY setting, no win there.. The problem I cannot solve no matter what (and I have spent 5 hrs on this now) is when you switch it to tail lock mode, the tail wags and kicks to the left with each wag.

I have seen this problem before on my JR770, Spartan and GY520. It turned out to be the link location on the servo horn.
Try moving the servo ball link one hole closer to center, on the servo horn.

 marioverburg (100%)
As far as drifting is conserned it is most likely that the pulse with is not correct at centre stick,i think it is 1500us for spectrum and 1520 for the gyro thus it receives a steering input, try adjusting your TX trim or drift setting on gyro.

 marioverburg (100%)
I had some jittering as well when i was setting it up,after power off and on it worked perfect. Also very important to leave the servo disconnected until you selected correct servo type, this is not mentioned in the manual.

 marioverburg (100%)
I had the same thing in heading lock until i realized i used some TX trim for the previous used gyro.

Hello Redsands:
I'm a new in this world and this is my first gyro, the thing is that I was like you, in the same situation. I tried with a Scanner HDS-9452MG and BMS-661DMG+HS Super Fast Digital Servo with ASSAN 2.4 Module and the radio is a WFLY WTF9.
I tried all and always the same, In one moment I thought to throw away the helicopter, but I saw the radio manual and there a menu for the gyro and activate the funcion for the gyro control and the swith for activate the head lock and normal way, the result was that the servos, all of them work properly and finish the problem.

 babuttila (100%)
I have the same problem with the gyro.Did you solve the problem?

 -Redsands- (100%)
Sorry babuttila, I did not, I have tried all the recomendations given (thanks everyone) but no.. I have managed only to reduce the violence of the wagging. My end resolve is to use this gyro only in normal mode, I realise that its a bit of a waste but I guess you get what you pay for right!

 -Redsands- (100%)
Following on from my previous comments, having used this for a while for sport flying in normal mode, I finally got up the courage to do some 3D. I flipped the switch to rev the motor up and the heli was well behaved still, flipped it over then flipped it back and the tail went mental, similar to what it does when you out it into tail lock mode. I have now decided to bin this gyro, my conclusion is that it I have either completely missed something or that this gyro is a peice of ****.

 McQuack (100%)
hello Redsands, I have now the same problem and not with one with two, I bought two, one for my tarot 500 and another with my raptor, I spend long time to built the tarot and in the overhaul the raptor and In a first moment saw than if you trimming the radio work OK but in these days I'm trying to check flying and not work properly, my problem now is than one of them I ordered long time ago and the other too. I write to assan to explain this and asking if it's be able to send the gyro to upgrade the firmware "there now a new version V2" and I haven't any answer from they. And I ordered a MKS DS8910 AVCS for testing both gyros with a servo than they say than work on this gyro but my impression is than I lost the price of two gyro for keep some money in my pocket. Anyway I'll go to the HobbyKing staff telling the situation and waiting than they give me a solution. I spend around 3 month fighting with this gyro, my radio and my servos, thinking than I lost one step in the setup or I was doing on bad way. Anyway I don't play anymore with a no name gyros and my future Gyros will be a Spartan.

*McQuack and anyone else who is having this issue: It appears that ASSAN have admitted that there was an issue with the old version of this gyro.. You can ship it back to them and they will sort it out. http : // **** rcgroups . com / forums / showthread.php?t=1032029&page=2 Here is what they said:
for the point 2. " drift running from day to day ". this one is because our guy make a mistake in the hardware assemble. we find a way to less that, the tests show it's useful in 450heli, but we feel puzzle when it's moved to 50 nitro heli, there still have some problem, i.e the tail not like a stone,it's with soft moving.i think that guy who play 3D will feel it's not good.

for the size, did it's really big? our most test flying are in 450 helis.our pilots think that is fine.like GY-401/GY611,they are also at big size and weight.

if you want, you can ship back the GA-510 which you hold and we take a little update and ship to you for using.

yours,

meng

*McQuack: I will be sending mine back to them.

 McQuack (100%)
And them where will we need to send the gyros? to hobbyking or Assan Company? this is incredible.

 McQuack (100%)
hey, Jasson !! read this!!!

 -Redsands- (100%)
*McQuack: From the post on the rcgroups forum they said to send it back to them for the update. I am not sure hc/hk standpoint on this.

 McQuack (100%)
I just sending the gyros to hk and just ordered one quark. I don't like to have a couple of new gyros like a rebuilt gyros. If it is a faulty item from the
factory, I like to change for another one new not rebuilt. I think than that's not serious.

I sent back to hobbyking one of mine and change it and the other I sent to Assan and they make it a upgrade to version 2 and look good I'm not testing yet  but I was trying it and now it doesn't make this things.

Well...to make this thread alive again, this gyro is still a piece of pucky...

no matter what settings i try it still wags
no matter wich servo
gain settings on tail lock jammed at 90%...cant reduce it

so the heli will stay on the shelf for a while
