My one of these arrived today but I don't think it is suitable for what I will use it for. I will use it to connect 2x 5000mah 3S 25C lipos together (each of which have 10AWG wires) but the wires on this parallel connector are only 16AWG! Would using this with the above batteries damage them in any way? It will be used on my DJI F550 hexacopter.
Charlie, Wolfes and Srepfler, battery capacity and cell count don't mean anything unless you provide what amps are/will you be pulling though these. Charlie, as this is parallel then everything is half the amps until single female connector but two 16s don't add up to one 10awg. ESCs are usually overbuilt there so my guess is that you are probably good for about 60 amps going to the speed controller. Everyone has a watt meter, right?
But you need to watch your gender as I mentioned this lead is for two batteries to 1 esc. You actually need 1xmale plug from the battery to two female plugs to connect to the esc's male connectors. Better to buy a pack of xt60 connectors and make your own
totally agree mate and with this item that is exactly what i did on June the 16th of this year thinking "stock updated within 2 weeks" now my order says "backorder" for 2 months? so i post a question that got removed waited a couple more weeks then post the question you replied to and guess what? this morn my order changes from backorder to reserved! :) if you just keep quiet sometimes you wait months! but if you let EVERYONE know how long your order has been waiting for the parts out in the open? you get results a fair bit quicker! so while i totally agree with your comment i an just showing what to do when things take too long *)
When items go out of stock and users continue to buy the item goes into back order. When stock arrives the back order items are filled first. So with this in practice you may never see an 'in stock' alert for some time. I suggest buy it and put it on back order and make sure that your orders are filled first.
When using two lipos in parallel- do both lipos need to be of the same capacity or not? Ie. could Input a 1300mAh lipo with a 1800 mAh lipo to make a total of 3100mAh or can I only put eg. a 1300mah with another 1300mah lipo? Also-do both lipos have to have the same C rating or does this not matter? Thanks in advance
If both LiPo are not of the same capacity, the one with the lower capacity will be deep discharged while the other one still holds some capacity. As we all know deep discharging a LiPo causes the LiPo to die. So only use two exact same LiPo! If both LiPo do not have the same C rating, the LiPo with the smallest C rating is the one to care about, otherwise this LiPo will die if you draw too much current.
dont worry mate. since it maintain the same voltage the lower capacity battery pulls lover current and higher capacity battery pulls a higher current. the both will discharge at same voltage..trust me!!!
Thanks technofinder- so you have experienced using 2 different lipos of different capacities in parallel and the lower capacity one hasn't ben overtly discharged then? What about if the 2 lipos have a differ C rating? Thank you
It is the same as charging in parallel. With lipos put into parralel, the higher voltage battery will discharge and raise the other battery until both battery levels are equal regardless of capacities. It is good to store batteries in parallel (more batteries the better). If one has a week cell, the others will keep it up. It is also easier to check .
Does this Parallel combination doubles the flight or the serie one does. And what is the difference guys on a flight point of view when using a Series plug or parallel one for two batteries at once. Thank you in advance http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/images/em_t humb.gif
The parallel setup doubles you current (measured in mah) which will add more flying time at the same speed.
The Series setup will double the voltage which means the same flying time but twice the motor speed (in theory).
I hope this helps!
The parallel harness will double your flight time by allowing current to be drawn from both batteries in equal amounts. The total current (amps) drawn will be the same but half of the total will be drawn from each battery. Half will be drawn from battery A and half from battery B. That way, you drain each battery slower. The series connector would increase your voltage and not your flight time. Just be certain that when using either connector, the voltages and capacity of the batteries are iden
Hi Awsome, re last note "when using either connector, the voltages and capacity of the batteries are iden[tical}" not really.
Serial allows mixed voltages but not capacities, ie a 2s 2200 and a 4s 2200 pack fine for 6s 2200. Parallel allows mixed capacities but not voltage ie a 2000 mah 3s pack and a 5000 mAh pack is fine for a 7000 mAh 3s pack.
Yes you have same voltage and double the mah for longer flights. I have 2 batteries hooked up with this so 2x 11.1V 2200mah 20c equals 11.1v 4400mah 20c. The other harness that HK sells is in series that one would double your voltage and mah would be same.
This wire is 16 AWG and this means it can handle maximum 117Amps for 10 seconds according to awg specifications.
It will get hot and the voltage at the end of the wire will drop.
So it is absolutely safe for continuous 50A per wire.
please see that you have 2 wires for each battery so you can have 100A x 2 = 200A combined at the end, for the esc connection.

just place a dispute with the bank issuing your credit card since you did not receive the package. Customers service here in HK sucks, you need to send them e-mails several items and often it takes almost 6 months before it can be resolved
HK appears to do lots of transactions and it seems there is room for human error. I don't think there is a policy of trying to rip customers off. Sometimes it seems to take a long time for relatively small things to be sorted out. But overall, HK seems to provide a fair service. I do hope you get some progress soon.
you want the series harness Parralel doubles the capacity (amps) and keeps the voltage. Series doubles the voltage and keeps the capacity
A series harnes and a multi balance board, and your good to go. Been charging batteries in series for a long time now. Just make sure the capacity of the battery's are the same, and never charge at a higher rate then fit for both battery's.
Actually you can use both methods. I prefer to charge them in paralel because this method will assure that there will be no overvoltage in one of the packs. I connect the balance connector in parallel too so the charger can balance all cells. In case of charging in series (it may be required if your charger cannot handle the current) the balance connectors shall be also connected in series otherwise balancing will not be possible. Have fun!
I use it to charge two batteries in parallel 3S 2650mAh. My charger does not support simultaneous charging. It is necessary to let the two batteries to inner balance and allow both have the same voltage before starting the charging process.
