The new number one in performance and price! The new Turnigy Lipoly packs deliver full capacity at the said C rate. You wont find a better deal in Lithium Polymer batteries anywhere!
on the back of the lipo, there's a sticker with small writing. it should say how many C to charge it.
C is the capacity of the battery. so a charge rate of 2C means 2 times the capacity.
so a 2.2 ah battery like this one with a 2C charge rate, then a maximum of 2x2.2=4.4 Amp charge rate.
ofcourse this is the safest high charge you can charge this battery with. going lower is better.
usually, all lipo batteries support a charge rate of 1C. some high performance batteries like the Turnigy nano-tech support a 5C charge rate (ideally, full charge in only 1 minutes (60 mins/ 5 C charge rate=12 mins)
KK board without the LCD screen, have the hobbyking SS series 35-40A ESC, I dont know what OPTO or BEC is, I have seen this video before and it was helpful, I was wondering how to connect one battery to 2 ESCs which are connected to 2 motors
you are awesome! thanks for your replies.
I think HK SS series 35-40A ESC comes with bare wire so you will need something like this (XT60 Female w/ 12AWG Silicon Wire 10cm (5pcs/bag) PRODUCT ID: 601B-12-10cm) or just the XT60 part and solder it to your ESC, the ESC wire that has a servo connector at the end connects to your KK board to power it.
I have 2 brushless motors and 2 ESCs and 1 KK board, how do I wire those to this battery?
thank you for your answer earlier, I might not have understood it fully and I apologize
What KK board you have? is it the KK2 or the old ones without the LCD. And what ESC do you have specifically (if OPTO or with BEC)? If you don't know any of that, you should read/learn more about basic RC circuits and components. The BSC output from the ESC will power the KK board. Here's one video about basic RC components but it doesn't show how to connect to a KK board.
You will have to get an ESC for brushless motor, the 3 wire end (bigger) goes to the motor, the 3wire signal wire (smaller) goes to the KK2, the remaining red and black wire of the ESC goes to the discharge plug of the lipo.
depends on the voltage you need .. the 3s work at 11.1 volts the 2s to 7.4 ... then only if you have a motor you can go to 20c 2200 mah mind 'you can climb as high as 3000, but most of last weigh more
ehm , it is happend what ESC you use ? is your ESC working power 2-3S or 2-4S ? if you use an 3s , and in the RTF package is a Lipo of 2s = 7,4V power than your motor and ESC worked at the maximum, it goes very hot. other whise you change your config.
you should really follow the specs on the battery. if its a 500mah battery for example, charging it at 5 amps mean you're using a 10C charge rate. which is not supported on any lipo i know of.
and anyway, high charge rates tend to shorten lipo life significantly and decrease their capacity
hi everyone, I have two of these batteries. one takes an hour to load another takes over two hours. I carry both at 2.2 amp. a problem with the battery
I would agree with Jonathan, put them on a balance charge * 2a & if your charger will display per cell voltage set it to do so & watch from 4.18 -> full 4.2... One cell is likely not hanging at 4.18v or 4.19v.
i did this recently with an older battery, and it took 9 hours to finally balance, it was only allowing it to go at .01 amps, because one cell was so far off from the others.

I've charged my new battery with IMAX B6AC in
charging position and after about 30 minute the charger indicate
full charge. The screen status indicate 900 as charged capacity, is it normal
my battery is 2200 ?
Sure, SK2830 takes 2S-3S lipo and turnigy plush 25A takes 2S-4S lipo so no problem there. I have several of these for my tri but with dt650 motors. Lots of power when needed.
thats depends.. sk2830 can suck up to 20 Amps per motor. 4x20=80 amps
this battery gives a maximum of 2.2 amps x 40c=88 amps
this is pretty tight. but it will work. be sure to check battery and esc temperature after each flight. if the battery is warm, you'll need to either increase battery capacity or buy same size higher discharge batteries.
The small plug is to balance it. You can take a batery meter and messure the voltages for storage and fly . Normally 3S should not be lower in flying under 3.7 per cell. you can damages and reduce the life of the battery.
Completely random.. and also incorrect. 3.7v is the nominal voltage. Don't go under 3.2, however ducking down to 3.0 temporarily shouldn't hurt the battery too much since that is the minimum voltage for LiPO's
Of course you can use any battery to power anything. But you have to make sure that the voltage is correct. This lipo is 11.1 and your board is 5v, you will need a Ubec for that.
If your board has very little power consumption (not driving any servo), a 3A ubec is more than enough. Check this out SKU: TR-UBEC
If that is the case, then you might want to use smaller C lipo and may be only 2 cell. It will be a lot lighter.
The Smaller plug is JST-XH I believe. The smaller plug is the balancing plug. all 4 cables represent each single cell. Black being Ground. Black and Yellow is the first cell, Yellow-Blue is second cell, and Blue-Red is third cell.
If you measure each line as I explained above, you will get V of individual cell, if you measure Black and Red, you will get the total V of all cell.
I believe that the wire coming out of the battery is 10 AWG there is no point in using anything bigger than that, but you may want smaller if your trying to save on weight if you're not pulling the full 88 amps
can i use this for my quadcopter. i have the tunigy d2830 1000kv motors x4. does it give enough power? im still new to quadcopter. i have the hobbyking x550. thanks
I finally got this in the mail today about a month after ordering it, and come to find out it doesn't have the plug I need. I thought that that this was pretty standard, but I guess not. I'm using it with a blade 450. Does anyone know where to find adapters?
I'm not a big fan of adapters as they are just another connection that could cause problems. Personally I would just change the plug on the battery to suit your application.
u can get an adaptor thru hobbyking global, u need a xt60male - ec3 female plug adaptor. which i also bought at the same time when i bought this battery. next time u purchase batteries u should check its spec etc size, plugs, discharge ratings.
I thought I needed a 40C battery for a 37A motor :P
I guess I've gone madly overkill, as it really means 88A on a 2.2A battery, right?
Is that a problem?
And how do you charge this battery? Is 1C or 2C OK?
1C is fine with me if that prolongs the battery life. 1C = approx 1 hour charge time right? 2C = 30min?
There is no problem, but yeah, you could have bought a cheaper battery. To charge it, you can charge it at 1C, meaning you will charge it at 2.2Amp/Hour so 1 hour to charge. I charge all my batteries at 1C to get better lifespan, if you want you can charge this one at 5C, if you have a good charger. (150W ) :p
The 40C discharge only applies for short bursts anyway. You have chosen the right battery for the job and it shouldn't get hot or puff up early in it's life cycle. Charge at 1C for longest life. Check that your charger will balance charge and do that every other charge (takes longer). Many chargers default to "charge" and you have to force them to "balance". Enjoy.
I would balance whenever you have the time since balancing takes a fair bit longer than a standard charge, say alternate charges. An unbalanced pack is easily damaged by over discharging a cell. Just plugging in the balance lead as well as the main leads is not enough, you must select balance charge too.
Its never an overkill. Higher C lipo will hold their voltage much longer compared to lower C, in all it probably would last longer than lower C on your application because you will never torture it.
DOnt forget as the capacity reduced, the max amps for the output also reduced even its 40C.
Yes.. the 30C is the Amps the battery can output and therefore will be more powerful than the 20c battery although it won't last as long if the power is set the same for both. Cheers
It depends how many amps you are drawing out - at 20c you get around 44 amp continuous but at above 30 there is a higher voltage drop therefore the power output is less generally it is good to calculate maximum continuous amps drawn by your motor prop combination and add 20-30pcnt then choose a c rating that is around that figure.
multiply the c number times the capacity of the battery. The C number is the maximum amount of amps the battery will discharge. 2200 mah= 2.2 amps. 2.2(amps)x40(C)= 88. So a 2200mah 40c battery can power an esc up to 88 amps.
I use them on a stock T-Rex 450 Sport V2. They are great. I also have 2 expensive Hyperions. Cannot tell the difference in fly time. The Hyperions will probable last longer (they should considered the price) but after 20 or so flights the Turnigy's are doing just fine. So yes, very suitable.
This Lipo battery is excellent for use with T-Rex 450. It is more powerful than requested also in strong 3d flight and it has the best quality at the better price.
I have tested this battery over my Trex 450 Pro and it gives a lot of punch that is barely warm after usage of 3D mild at 3.30minutes. No regret of buying this lipo battery but then there is only one problem with this specific battery is the weight that does not make any sense that can raised up to 270grams... ? where does that numbers come from !!!

I pull 53 amps from these and the battery is cool. Used them on my trex-450 and on a 1/10th car (which goes like mad). After 20 cycles the battery still feels like new and still balances well. Only problem is waiting for stock of these. I had a notification when new ones came in. Checked there were 80. 5 mins later logged in to buy and they were all gone!

followup... read previous review, seems return postage was nearly as much as batt, I pulled dead batt to bits (with care) found that the circuit board was not completed with solder between cells so I finished it off properly and now have a 3s working battery, this explains why one cell was dead when i pulled it out of the packet NEW, so if they check batts prior to shipping as stated it was without a doubt FAULTY.... hope this is helpful
