Ultra fast microprocessor controlled, extremely low resistance circuit and chip design, and aluminum heatsink for better thermal dissipation are just some of the features in the new TURNIGY Super Brain range of brushless speed controllers. The Super Brain brushlessesc is a high performance ESC capable of standard and competition use. Full protection, including signal loss, over-temperature. Programable by USB, PC or your Tx. Compatible with all radio systems.
Features:
Supports the ‘Turnigy USB Linker’ to program the ESC by computer. ESC Firmware upgradeable via the internet. Integrated flight data logger, records data for the ENTIRE flight such as: - Voltage - Current - Temperature - Motor RPM - Throttle travel Programmable settings; Startup (Default Standard/Soft/hard) Low Voltage cutoff (Default 12.0/15.0/18.0/21.0/24.0/27.0/30.0/33.0/36.0V) Current limiting (Default Standard/Very sensitive/Insensitivity/Disabled)
in the computer program for use with the usb linker I have the opportunity to choose 3s lipo and lower voltages, will this work with voltage lower then 4s lipo?
Any idea on when these are going to be stocked again? Been watching for almost three weeks now. The UK warehouse has them stocked, but US customers can't order from there. Kind of silly since the people that want this ESC are stuck waiting.
useing the turnigy superbrain 100 amp with my setup why does the power stay on to my switch that operates my reciever with 7.4v battery plugged in to run my servos and throttle ? the superbrain doesnt have a bec so why does the power stay on? i need the 7.4 v to run my servo's otherwize there sluggish. can i use a bec with the turnigy superbrain or not ?
you actually have to use a BEC or a flight pack to power the RX, since the SB has no BEC. If you do use a flight pack, the RX power will stay on when you disconnect the ESC. The other way to do it is to wire the BEC into the ESC battery leads, in which case the RX power would go off when you unplug the ESC.
Can someone please tell me the dimensions about the mounting holes. I have ordered this but it seems to in a long row to get it. It would help my plane building to make the mounting for ESC.
Hi! I've ordered this item some days ago but it is unavailable. When do you think it arrives? 10 days or later...?
I would like to test this fantastic ESC as soon as possible
thanh you!
Hey i want to run this esc with the turnigy xk5682 motor, what sort of battery set up (parralel series etc.) should i use to achieve 20 volts at max 100A? thanks!
In theory something that can handle "100A".
So 50C 2000mAh should in theory be able to handle the load. In practise though, I recommend you shoot for at least about 50pcnt "margin". So e.g. 40C 3800mAh would allow for some margin.
I currently fly a multicopter at 4* max10A with a 120A battery (3000mAh @ 40C).
The real question is: how much battery capacity can you carry and how much do you need? The bigger the capacity, the lower the C-rating can be.
As to the "20V", 6S comes close. It sta
As to the "20V", 6S comes close. It starts out charged at 25.2V, and discharges to around 20V. Or you could choose 5S, 21V fully charged, discharge down to 16-18V. So from the information you've given, I cannot say: chose this one. But I can allow you to calculate what you need. Start with the time you want to fly/drive/whatever. Convert to hours (e.g. 10 minutes = 0.166 hours). Multiply by the average Amps you're going to use. with 100A max, this might be 30A. Multiply these together and you get the required Ah. In the example: 0.166h * 30A = 5Ah. Add a bit of margin. 5 Ah * 1.2 = 6Ah. Now you could use 20C, 6Ah batteries. However, I recommend you get 25C or 30C. Chose 6S, and to get 6Ah, use two 3000mAh ones in parallel. Two of these for example. www.link
(i've just checked out your motor. It mentions: Max 22.2V, which is 6*3.7V. this would imply 6S LIPO configuration. Now I'd think they allow you to charge your LIPO.... :-) )
Per the spec sheet your request of 8s/80a is well within the advertised 12s/100a max so it should be fine. I am running 6s/65a with this ESC, no problems so far.
Hello,
You can obtain the setting manual: Go to the product(Turnigy Super Brain 100A Brushless ESC) then "Files" and the name of the file is "SuperBrain100A_online.pdf". You'll find all the informations you want about this product.
I hope I helped you.
The ZIP files are on RCGroups, look for threads called "Turnigy SuperBrain ESC's" and "Turnigy Super Brain 100A esc w/USB linker (need help)". Hope this helps.
10 April 2012: I purchased a Super Brain 100A ESC in Feb 2011 -and have not yet used it. I am now about to use this 100A ESC. -So I emailed Zenith Peng, of Chongqing HIFEI Technology Ltd, to find the latest position, so that I can be sure that the ESC will work properly in my plane. I sent the email to: zenith.peng*gmail***** and also to: info*hifei**** Here is his reply to me: " ... Hello Dr. L.... Thanks for your email. Attached are the last firmware for 100A-K and the manual for HiFei KINGKONG ESCs, you should update the firmware as the following procedures: 1 Using Turnigy Super Brain software to upgrade the old firmware of Turnigy Super Brain 100A with the new one 【*attached: Hifei 1HV 100(A ).DLC】* 2 Download HiFei Software 4.01 in HiFei website ( ***********hifei****/en/News_View.asp?NewsID=122 ), and install it.
After you updated the firmware successfully, the firmware ID will be: AHKA010810HA1000. If you have any questions, please kind let me know. Best Regards, Zenith Peng Chongqing HIFEI Technology Ltd., ****hifei**** ..."
You file find a ZIP file of the new manual he sent, and also a ZIP file of the new 100A firmware, at: ***********rcgroups****/forums/showpost.php?p=212878 84&postcount=4 Hope this helps, Dr Allan L, UK
When I tested the engine (TR37403-1180) against the super brain controller (TSB100A) first time using 9S LIPO without any load (enginge running idle - no gear, no main rotor), the controller set himself to fire. Furtunately I was able to download the logging information. This shows, that the controller finished his life early at 40A. In addition to that I wonder, how an engine without any load applied can draw 40 A or more. I suspect a mechanical issue on the motor as well (defective bearing ?). Therefore I send both items back for claiming warranty. Good to have the logger active ... . But I will buy a new set (same items) immediately.
I recieved my SuperBrain 100 and would love to use my USB Linker. But the Turnigy Software says: "can´*t hardware 11HA´*s parameter setting".
......
If i use the ****HiFei**** Link Software V4.01 the linker works with the SB100....
best regards
ok i now have motor running and grafs it was because i needed to do at least a 20sec run what i now need the pole setting and timming setting for this esc and a rotomax1.60 can anyone tell me what it is please

I purchased a Turnigy Plush ESC 60. I plugged it into my Airtronics receiver. I got a constant beep every 2 seconds. The manual says the throttle wiring is wrong. I tried all configurations of plug wiring. Nothing worked. Is the Plush 60 compatible with the Airtronics receivers?
Just received the super brain 100A. No instructions. No matter what I do when I power the ESC, when connected to the receiver and motor, I get ten beeps. If anyone can help that would be appreciated. I have the programming board and the programming box as they where sold out of the USB when I ordered.
Configuration:
1)Cutoff type: Hard
2)Governor Mode: Auto
3)Brake type: No brake
4)LVC: Auto
5)PWM: 8kHz
6)Start type: Fast start
7)Timing Advance: Auto
8)Current Limiting: Disable
Thanks
I wish that was the case. I have it connected to 5S pack. I also have a bench top adjustable power supply that I have tried up an down the acceptable range for the ESC and I get the ten beeps no matter what voltage input.
I received a superbrain 100A ESC today
I've been running the 80A and 60A with the USB linker and PC software with no problems for many months
When I connect the SB100A with the Y-cable to the same USB linker
select the correct coms port
I get this cryptic error messsge:
can't hardware 11HA 's parameter setting
does anyone know how to get pass this point so I can program this ESC?
and use the data logger
v4 hifei software helped me program this esc
When I try to download flight data
I see the download
Program hangs and does not display data
Win7 in 32 and 64 bits tried
It can be programmed using the TX stick... but you NEED the computer interface to use the data recording capability of this ESC. If you are not going to get the USB connector, get a different ESC. Default setting is use4able. Its autodetect on the cell count and LVC, auto advance motor control, needs the thrrottle range expanded to maximum on my JR X9303 or it limits max power to appx 90pcnt. (I did first flight using one without connecting it to the computer first) I have 2 of these ESCs and a
I have seem that there are three firmware available in hobbyking. two says original, it seems to me that they are exactly the same, and there is a third one call firmware 0129 okt. Which one I should load? Could someone tell me what are the difference between th original and the third one. I really apprecite any help from you guys. Also is there is a new firmware available, let me know. Thank a lot, Leopoldo
I think the SB100 can run a 2 pole motor at up to 210,000rpm and a 6 pole motor at up to 70,000rpm. You normally only run close to the limit with 12 pole motors.
Running it with a Mega 110 motor an a 19x8 prop. With more then 70% throttel the motor almost stop, sound like loosing timing. Theis also happens if I give fast throttel. Have now try out with a Turnigy Sentilon 100A HV and everything now working. Funny becourse that reg. have werry bad response in theis forum. Have try all settings regarding timing ets. and tject all connection. It look like the reg. not are abel to handle my motor :(
are you sure that you have correctly programmed the ESC ..? check again: Current Limitin, Timing Advance, Cutoff Type, PWM Rate and other options. if your batteries are too weak (not enough Amps) load above 70pcnt is too big and the battery voltage drops so the ESC thinks that they are empty, therefore reducing engine power. LVC set to AUTO or one battery is less than (for example, if you have 12s set the 11s) This option is only for testing - do not fly on it! You can destroy the batteries if the
All tjekt many times now, but still not working. Batteri are fine and are flying using my spin 99 witout any problem. Think the controler are broken or simpel not abel to handel the motor. :(
Hi, i want to use this ESC in a T-Rex 700 3G. Softstart and Supersoftstart with enabled Governormode is perfekt. But when i disable the Governormode also the Softstart is disable. I have try everthing to get a Softstart without used Governor, but i won´t work. What is the mistake i made ?? I use the Turnigy Software with USB Linker. Thanks Woffi
what is the best pwm settings and timing mode for:http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store/uh_view Item.asp?idProduct=7870 It is losing sync all the time.
so far so good work nicely on trex 600, 6S liFe4500mAh ,motor align 600XL,13T pinion.average voltage 16v max current 71,5amp

Chauffe trs peu. Que du bon pour le moment.
just tested on 4s batt and seems to be working fine at the moment, havent programmed it or have the bird done yet but it's going to go on 5" fan with scorpion 4035 800kv on 9s batt, maybe i'll have it done in a month or 2 to give a better review

Mine came today, servo/receiver wires were ok. I just pluged them into Y-cable, connected to USB linker and went throught programming/logging software - no problems there. Now waiting for 10s Li-Pol pack to bench test it with TGY SK 63-64 230Kv engine and TGY Wood 20x12 prop. More power, wrrrr!
