they are both the same size and weight. difference is the max RPM, i.e. the kV rating. I have not noticed a big difference in performance in a 64mm EDF. using 4S is dodgy, you have been warned *-)
I am looking for a motor for my T-45 Goshawk R / C 64mm EDF Jet EPO Kit, this engine is a good option? What engine should I use? A 40 amp ESC is enough? I hope your help, thank you.
If you use a 3S battery, this motor is fine. 4S is a no go! Be warned! I bought the 3800kV and the 3500kV, both disintegrated on 4S with a 64mm EDF. A 40A ESC is good for a 5 blade 64mm fan unit and using 3S. That orange bit at the back is aluminium, so the motor is a bit on the heavy side.
www.link shaft will work for the 7 blade EDF fan.
I have bought this shaft and that impeller and they both fit on each other and will work on this 3500kv edf engine.
Cheer, William
sorry about the blocked link. Search "107-7B-3" in the search bar on the left, you will get 2 different options, choose the 3mm shaft and that's what I'm talking about.
Hope i helped :)
This is a good quality, but 'heavy' motor compared with the Turnigy 2815 EDF motor and it would need to be run on a 4S LiPo. If you are talking about the GlobalFly T-45 (formerly Sapac T-45) you need a very powerful setup otherwise it will be quite slow.
I know a 4S gives me 800g thrust on standard 64mm 5 blade HK fan. But i doubt that you are going to get 700g out on 3S. You have to have more KV for that. maybe this one is a better option but it is on backorder... Turnigy 2815 EDF Outrunner 4800kv for 55/64mm

My motor running a 4S 20C turnigy pack draws 34A (490Watt) so 40A ESC is OK. It fits a HK64mm ok 70mm nicely!!! This is a good motor, good sound, good quality, good balance.

15mm BHC 2.5mm tapped holes. Once made an adapter to fit in stryker it worked amazing!!! I used an 80 amp esc and only flew short bursts at full power. Melted the motor flying for a minute wide open on a 4.75x4.75 prop on 4s. Short runs work well 120mph!!!!
Motor looks different but preforms the same as the freewing 3500kv motor. combines with their fan unit provides around 850 grams of thrust at about 35-36 amps. nice smooth running unit

A quick test on 4S 20C turnigy battery with HK64mm fan gave me 490Watt @ 34A and turnigy 60A plush ESC on low timing. A non precision thrust reading in the scale gave me 820g static thrust. So far so good.
