Hi Hkers do these retracts fit into a dago red ? they look the same .

Hiya Bushy, i have left some of the dimensions for these (click Review) but am not sure if they'll fit. Measure the LENGTH, WIDTH and HEIGHT of your LANDING GEAR SLOT, and i'll check if this P-51D landing gear will work for you :)

How long have these been unavailable? Was 11 backorders now only 8. Guess people are tired of waiting. I need some badly. Plane is easier to work on with wheels installed, even though she flies better without them.

Does the P-51D belly-land without ruining the prop or the foam? Want to rip my gear off because thats what the grass keeps doing. Added some bigger, better wheels and same result. Wheels dig in as the struts flex and the P-51D noses over and tries to break the prop and the motor mount :(

Yes you can belly land this plane, you may want to protect vital parts with strips of thick clear tape. I went to a more flexible prop as I kept breaking APCs. Also if you bend the gear forward just in front of the leading edge, the plane won't nose over so bad. Depends on how thick the grass is. Good Luck!

I do not recommend you make landings on grass with these landing gear are broken they are made ??for use on track!

Total Length = 135mm. Total Length in Wing = 130mm. Total Length minus wheels = 110mm. Wheel Diameter = 30mm. Wheel and Tyre Diameter = 50mm. Tyre Width = 17mm. The biggest wheel that FITS is a 2 1/4inch. If catching on grass, remove wheel covers and glue them back on UPSIDE DOWN. Looks better if you put the RIGHT WHEEL COVER on the LEFT WHEEL. Good luck :)

No, it will come with what you see in the photo. The grey plastic can be easily be removed so you save some weight. It doesn't look as nice but will make the Stang fly faster (less drag!) You cannot get these for less anywhere else ..

Does anybody know what is the diameter of the wire and wheels are? Also how long from mount to bottom of wheel. It would be nice if HK put some specs on these parts... ARG! I want to put them on an PK P-51D, 40". THX

Hi Pugsley, no these wheels DO NOT come with the black plastic attachment plate. If you have broken them, glueing them, then tapng them to the wings. That should be strong enough to hold the wheels in place for landings. Im contemplating removing the gear and belly landing. The stock gear flexes excessively and is not great for grass. HK P-51D Mustang landing gear is the same as stock item. They're fairly scale and look good. Can be painted easily. They prefer to run on a harder surface. Long grass gets caught between the wheel and the plastic cover. Easy to install and remove. Tips: (1) Wheels will rotate faster if you loosen the plastic nut holding the wheel to the axle. (2) Remove the plastic cover and glue them on upside down. This will prevent the wheels from catching the grass upon landings. Put the left cover onto the right wheel and visa versa, (better lines). Add lots of glue to the thin end of the covers and glue them to the plastic wheel nut. Glue will fill the 1mm gap. Or use BluTak. This setup looks better than removing cover completely and will withstand most succesful landings.

Perfect replacement part. The metal is brittle, so bad landings will eventually wear this metal out bending it back in shape. Two have snapped at the 90 degree angle.

I bought this as a replacement for another P51D about the same size. I felt it was heavy- total weight for both is 43 grams. Other thing I didn't like was there's no give in the gear, meaning if you have a hard landing, either the gear will bend or the landing gear will rip off. The tires are nice though, nice and sponge like. I suppose they expect the tires to absorb most of the impact on landing. Other than that it does look nice and you can't beat the price.
