Super 3D flatform EPO R/C Plane w/ ESC and Brushless Motor
Super aerobatic, and very strong. The EPO 3D flatform is built for parkfly sized 3D. Anyone can learn to hover, harrier and knife-edge with this plane! We have included the appropriate C20 brushless motor, 8x4 propeller and 10A ESC for you, so all you need to do is get 3 5g servos, your own tx/rx and a 500mAh 2S pack to be ready to fly!
No worries. To get it, I mount all my electronics forwards as possible. Managed to get the balance right with a 800mah 2s battery. But since its 3d, you can take the CG backwards to suit your style of flying cause some people like it tail heavy on purpose to harrier etc.
this plane is about 1/2 of my krack extra. totally under powered with 2s 500mah battery and the wing is under sized for the weight. i am thinking of trying a 3 cell 500 mah battery. i,ll post the results later on when the wind settels down here in north carolina
Hey. how servos and batteries should I use on this plane? I have just bought Turnigy 9x can I use this on the plane as well? thinking of recipients is too big?
Yes bang on! But as its 3d, some like it tail heavy on purpose. I found that for me that was the best combination. I will fly it on a 800mah battery next cause I only have one 500mah and I hate recharge times! The HK manual doesn't state where the CG is. But one more thing to consider, I have the servos under the wing compared to behind it.
I went yo fly the Hawk and the ESC seems to be acting up. It seems to be in program mode or something. Making a lot of different sounds. I try to set it up and have no luck. Is the ESC Bad?
Try turning on your transmitter with the throttle stick pushed all the way open (up). This will put the ESC in programming mode. Then plug in the battery to the ESC. You will hear corresponding beeps for the number of cells used. Once the beeping stops, unplug the battery to ESC and Transmitter. Reset throttle stick to closed position and try hooking up your setup again. This should work if you have a good ESC.
Other than following this from my personal experience (almost threw away 3 good ESCs)by trail and error I don't have other suggestions. Can you try again but, 1)Make sure that the throttle is up BEFORE turning on the transmitter. 2)Turn on receiver and wait for the beeps (should stop beeping if this works) 3)Power off receiver and Transmitter 4)Close throttle (down stick) and Turn on both normally. Good luck.
No. It continues to go into a series of Beeps after the Musical scale ta, da, da, da, da. Then Beep, beep ...beep, beep beep....then 3 and 4. Then a 2nd time with a higher 1st beep and the same 1,2,3 beeps afterwards. Prob ESC went Bad. Don't know of anything elce to do. Whew...
Mine come with NO ESC, so I tryed the HK and the Turnigy, both presented the same issue, and I'm not able to fly so far.... Can some one help me please???? I think I have about the same issue of Inabiscuit, once I connect the battery, I got some weird sounds and the motor respond to the throttle, but looks like with not too much power. Ath the moment I install the propeller, and I try to give some throttle, the motor not start and start making some tik, tik, tik, tik and not start speening... Once you remove the propeller, satrt spinning, again.... I happens with bothe ESC! Is any programming missing??? Please, help!!!
Efficiency is poor 3S (<70%) but jumps to 80% 2S: 12,303 rpm * 7.52 volts & 7.37 amps. Kv is too high for 8040 HD and efficiency suffers. 3S is good with 5043 prop. Numbers okay for the motor weight.
can you fly it inside or is it to fast. That is the whole point behind micro is inside. I with HK would make vibs that show landing, take off and if small fly it inside.
Yes. This plane harriers quite slowly if that's what you mean. But you can basically get this thing to stop whilst flying. Then it goes fast when you want it to. I maidened mine just recently and is very floaty. But if ur going to fly indoors then you will have to protect the bottom of the plane with tape because of the no landing gear issue.
I bought my 3D-Hawk 2 yrs ago and I can program the ESC! This ESC has a one level menu of 1 to 16, symbolized by 1 to 16 beeps. 1 beep = 2-cell LiPo 2 beeps = 3-cell LiPo 3 beeps = change rotational direction 4 beeps = quick (normal) rev-up 5 beeps = slow rev-up 7! beeps = slower rev-up I cant identify any brake function in this ESC. Programming: a. Tx ON and Throttle MAX. b. model batt CONNECT. The programming sequence will begin with 1 beep, after some seconds 2 beeps and so on, up to 16 beeps. c. To set i.e. function no 1 put the Throttle to MIN after the 1 beep signal. After few seconds the ESC will confirm with ta-dee beep signal. If you want to continue programming, put the Throttle to MAX. The ESC will then continue with next function, in this example the 2 beep. IF you want to exit instead, just keep the throttle in MIN. After few seconds the ESC will confirm exit with ta-dee-ta-dee beep signal. The ESC is now in normal operational mode and you can fly. Good luck!
I used an 8x4 prop and 800mah battery with the stock setup. 450mah up to 800mah seems to be fine. Whether its a good second plane depends on our skill to be honest. You can still limit the throws with DR/Expo if you have a computer radio.
Personally, I think that this would be an OK 2nd plane looking at it right now. It has large control surfaces, making your stick movements much more sensitive. What did you use for your first plane? This plane is made to be both maneuverable and durable.
Anyone know what landing gear would work with this plane? Wondering if there is some made for these foam planes of if you need to make your own crossing up to the wings for support?
Bigshou4u, you were right. Trying to add landing gear was a bad idea. I tried using the HK light wire gear and small wheels with a wire skid for the tail, but about the second time I landed hard in the street, it tore off even braces with wooden chop sticks going to the wings. Had to glue popsickle sticks to fill the gap. Now my problem is with the prop coming off the prop saver, even though it flew pretty well until then prop came off, but need more O-rings.
use nano-tech batteries 25-40C. highest C you can find and you will have the best performance!( I mena use this one Turnigy nano-tech 460mah 2S 25~40C Lipo Pack)
It came well packaged and all intact. Went together quickly and easily. I used CA with accelerator and Hot Glue for the engine mount and mounting the wing. It flies really well on the provided setup with a 800mah 2 cell batt. I added a 2mm Carbon spar for the wing which it definately needs. Here's my review on RCG www.link Definate Thumbs Up

3 thumbs up!
built stock except for carbon rod in wing. Hxt 9g for ailerons and 5g for elevator and rudder. Flies great on 800mAh 2s. my CG is at 65mm from leading edge of wing at fuse. I had no issues with uneven thicknesses.
AWSOME littlep lane. Does what you want and has a great power combo. Using a GWS 8x4, flys great, hovers no problem with lots of climb out. Getting about 10 minute flight times with a 2s 500 and 2s 850. Needs carbon spar for wing, and I used the left over aileron linkage rod to tie the upper/lower tail sections together. has play in surfaces due to linkages, but doesn't seem to effect much in the air. I am going to re-inforce the nose and add some carbon in the tail section.
Excellent plane, even better price!

1 thumbs up!
I fly it with a 500mAh 2s battery pack, and it can do some great things. the original prop is fragile and not so good, the 8x3.8 prop they have here works perfecly, and does not break avery two lanings like the original. the wings are not so strong either, you should add a carbon fiber bar or something to it, mine folded downwards during flight, and in the resultning "landing" the enginemount broke..
