I was wondering every body is talking of this glow driver to use either with NICD/NIMH or lipo .I was just thinking that most of we flyer have 1 or 2 or 3 cell LIPO batteries from 1000 to 3000mah or more with us .
My question is why cant someone or glow plug mfg design a electronic circuit " inbulit glow driver with step down in voltage from 7.4 or 11.1v to 1.5v " (voltage MUST not exceed 1.5v)where we can just attach a normal lipo battery of 1300mah or of 2200mah with little longer wire which could be connected to a glow clip
Connected to a glow clip http://www.advantagehobby.com/23412/HAN121/?pcat =441
other glow clip like on board glow driver http://www.google.co.in/search?q=glow plug battery clip&hl=en&rlz=1R2SKPT_enIN451&biw=972&bih=507&tbm=i sch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=uNtXUdqWH8HsrAfk94DYBw &ved=0CEUQsAQ
my basic idea is to use the lipo batteries which we normally have for longer reliability & durablity for glow starting for 2 or 4 stroke engine .
if there is something like this what I'm looking for ,pls let me know or send me the link.
Peter,
You can ride with a battery pack, but will have to use in any way to the front of a glow plug, the biggest problem I see is the size it will be clumsy to use, and moreover, this glow plug they sell is much more practical, and so put a rechargeable battery.
I hope I helped.

I tried everything and they still do not fit. also I gotta agree with SWAMPRAT THE POLARITY IS OF NO CONSEQUence as. I use a nicad cell with a couple of leads and clips and I can connect the which everyway and they still light the glo plug.
I purchased one and when I put the battery in the cap would not screw all the way down. When i tried to light the gloplug i had no success. I then removed all the anodizing from the inside of the cap and the thread on the main body. It works in a sort of fashinion but sadly not every time. I have tried all sorts of AA batteries but they are all too big or the case is too small. Anyone else had this problem? I would not buy another one.
Aleykum selam. Sizin aldiniz zaman BACKORDER yaziyorduysa gelmez, ç*unku stokta bitmis, mal gelince gonderilecek. Aldiginizda stoktaysa kesinlikle noel dolayisiyla gecikmistir. Bende almaak icin girdim fakat backorder okuduktan sonra vazgectim.
the plus is in the center and the minus is on the borders , some glow plugs (rare) use the inverse , minus in the center etc...
(i dont have 100pcnt of sure , i have 85pcnt)
thats not true, you can take every AA battery and it will work. if you take a ni-zn like the turnigy AA Ni-Zn 1500mAh, the glowplug wire will glow extremely, works great even on older glowplugs then.
NiZn is probably a little much - glowplugs are designed with 1.5V batteries in mind, but that was with long plug leads. And the batteries were the old No.6 ignitor cells, which had fairly high internal resistance compared to modern cells. 1.1-1.2V at the plug is about right, so use the low self discharge NiMH that HobbyKing sells.
Can you solder some wire and connecters an use this as a regular Clip through the power panel. Those clips run $15 at the hobby store. If the battery contacts are solderable it sould work.
use alcaline bateries or rechargeable NI-MH TURNiGY he will work very long time i recomend alcaline duracell rechargeable duracell or TUrnigy and the point of baterie to up make a better contact ok
Aconselho comprar 2 pilhas NiMh novas.
I see people are talking about this but i would like to use rechargeable batteryies for this, i dont mind if i have to take them out and charge with my wall soccet charger, just wondering if there is a noticable differance between 1.2v and 1.5v for starting a cox 049 engine!
I found starting my .46 O.S on my plane that a normal battery gives it a hard time to produced enough glow as I had expected. But if using a Alkaline battery or say Energizer Max, it works perfectly, I also tried using a standard re-chargeable AA, works well too, its pretty good hence the size of the glow starter very handy when on a plane engine espic a side-mounted engine
If you keep the battery always charged, will work perfectly. I have no problem to start my engines, from the smallest to biggest ones, it works very weel
The rechargeable battery is better than ordinary, which you will throw away after one use, and you can charge with any charger that can recharge NiMH batteries, even with lipo charger.
Yes you can use rechargeable battery AAA size,
and you can use following connector, but rechargeable battery AAA only give it 1.2v and normal battery give it 1.5v choice is www.link
But i have to say that it is not really good the AA battery discharge rate it not so good, so in some glow plugs it will not IGNITE because AA common battery doesn't hold many charge, and the discharge rate sucks. I would recommend you to get a D battery size glow plug lighter it is the better i have find.. This one after one or two uses you have to drop the battery.
have problems with the black coating. It prevents the batery to contact the lead. I had to s****e some paint off the thing to get it working. Be sure to charge your batery before use. after a few days my batery is always dead.
Hi, I wish to buy this rc car: PRODUCT ID: 272000006 but which one lighter I need to use? This lighter is long time in BK. It is exist some alternative lighter? Or what is better to use?
If it has a glow engine (it does) then you will need a glow lighter like this one. It is often on backorder as they are very popular. You could try eBay for a glow lighter - they are always some available. Hope that helps.
As rightly the mate boingk said above ,
you can find on eBay .
You can also find a starter set .
Many of them includes the glow igniter with rechargeable battery
and wall charger , small wrenches , screw drivers even and fuel bottle .
I wonder why HobbyKing does not trading these parts ...??

as it is stocked now... try it as I got one too. this price is amazing i have one with battery indicator but I am going to use this with rechargeable batteries as I have many of them.
necesita una pila de las que lleva la emisora . Yo lo tengo y yo llevo con mis her
ramientas si tengo un apuro cojo una del mando y listo nunca te deja tirrado
Just keep in mind that it was designed for use with a 1.5v battery. If you replace that with a 1.2v battery it will not have as much power and may be less effective.
this is something I was always longing for. wanted to use the LSD NiMh for booster. Finally a booster with interchangeable batteries. Made up of good qaulity steel and nice grip. Wish it came with the meter... Absolutly great value and cheap.

Though I have power panel, it is a complementary tool to start the engine when it is warm.
