Mini AMX EDF Fighter Jet w/LiPo Battery, EPO Plug-n-Fly
An excellent parkflyer sized EDF foamie made from well moulded and crash resistant (EPO) foam. The AMX EDF jet comes plug and fly ready right out of the box and will take you around 45 minutes to set up. Included is a 20A ESC and small yet powerful 50mm brushless ducted fan system, plus all servos are pre installed so all you only need to add is your own receiver to complete this model.
My esc burned up. I replaced it with a 30A esc. Now I have discovered that my motor also has a channel burned up. I cannot find a listing for a replacement motor. Can anybody help?
I have my mini amx edf yesterday, I already setup all the requirement then try to fly it. but I cannot, the amx crash.. I think this cause the battery position (CG) and the thrust is bad, so I test in my hand to fly it vertical but cannot. somebody can help me?
What battery are you using? 3S? 4S? For more thrust you will want to put a 4S lipo in it, gives it a lot more power. For launching, give it a firm throw straight forward (not up for that will make it stall), and let it build up speed before making any moves. Double check the CG with others, (like on rcgroups****, and other forums). How is it crashing? That will help narrow down the possibilities.
People have tried it and it works pretty well. It doesn't matter which system is in it, really. The limit is how much mounting space the EDF requires. As long as you have enough space in the AMX to mount it, it'll be a good power upgrade for it.
That set up didn't work so well in the F16 tho .. Was very disappointed .. That's why I Tryed the T45 with the same set up .. That's why I was asking if it fits the battery and if it has added power to the jet ? If anyone has given it a go ..
I'm dont receve the second batterie. i'm like the new how many days to recevie the second batterie the last commande. thinck a lot . My email is yveguil*gmail****
Any charger would work for this airplane. Do a search on HK and you can find a bunch of pretty good chargers at a low price. I use a EC06 that can charge a 4S up to 3200mah. Invest in one that you like and that's the only charger you'll have to buy for this hobby!
Hi V, no I don't think any jet is good for beginners. I'm prretty new to this myself and and I had tried out the F16 in this series it's pretty fast. My first plane was a Micro Cessna 182 easysky even that was fast and I crashed it many times. but it still flyable when i put in a new motor another one is a sports glider same manufacture to cessna but the motor is on the back and that will prevent beginners like us to crash and break the prop or the motor shaft. And No it does not come with landing gear.
With the stock 20C lipo - these mini-jets are not so difficult. They are good intermediate level EDF's ... Put a higher C lipo in and they take on a new life and speed !
hi, the amx is definitly not a plane for a beginner - i had never flown before and crashed it in seconds! 3 more outings, 3 more crashes and a lot of glue later i bought a 50mm Sabre. it was perfect to learn on, flies slow and is easy to tell which way up it is, and no bad stalll characteristics, it will even launch off its belly on short grass and floats in when landing. i recently bought a new amx airframe, its still a dog to fly, tip stalls easily and needed cheetah holes to get enough air
You should get this, it seems that this plane is easier to control, than the f18, atleast in my experience, Also the flight on this plane is really stable,
Please could you tell me the KV rating of the motor and could it handle 3 cell 11v i am hoping to use motor in jettiger with 64mm edf any thoughts thanks
I don't know the kv but it handles 3S just fine, but this motor is meant for 50mm EDF's, it will probably overheat in a 64mm. Hope this helps you and don't forget to credit me if my answer was helpful!
This is one of the motors my jetiger ate, testing setups for stingr64 *} ok with 3 cell 64mm for about 3 flights until sustained wot made magic smoke come out:} lol..i eventualy chose P2627L, HK35Aesc and 2200 30c 4cel very goood for jt and s64 if this airframe wasnt beyond repair i would try 4 cell used for Funfighter range and 50mm in this jet that would be to fast to c
4200KV .... Stock motor / ESC will take 4S as long as kept to lower 20 - 25C rating. Advised to use throttloe as well to allow cooling periods. Motor mount in the 50mm fan is 20mm
I bought the kit and will have to servo the ailerons and elevators seperately, (probably like the t-45 which i am taking the gear from) Any comments? My guess* it will reduce the roll rate, but tighten the loop. Ideal for me.
it's amazing! Fast and vary stable at all speed! Vola davvero molto bene, stabile alle basse velocità e davvero tanta potenza. Unica cosa negativa i servocomandi non sembrano essere all'altezza: dopo pochi voli uno si è rotto in volo!
The 50mm Mini-jets from Skyangel all have the 4200kv motor with 5 blade fan package. The 3S 20C lipo is minimum to use and will generally give 250gr thrust. This is fine for general sport and intermediate level pilots. Control throws need to be set carefully to manual advised and these are best regarded as maximum for general use. For those who wish to "hot-up" the min-jets ... then a simple mod is to just up to a 25C or higher lipo. This then lets the motor get the amps it wants ... thrust on a 1300mAh 25C 3S jumps to 330gr. For real speed freaks - the stock motor / ESC will take a 4S Lipo as l*ong as you stay in the lower 20 - 25C ratings. The motor is a 20mm mount and you can swap out for the Turnigy EDF 5000KV motor for even more power, but ESC will need changing to take the increased amp draw. Suggest a 35A ESC. If you hot up this AMX - I would suggest looking at separating the ailerons and elevators to give more direct control runs without risk of flexing etc. If above is useful - would appreciate a credit !! (I fly the T45 50mm and that is brilliant on 4S etc. as this AMX would be)
solentlife, a brilliant answer! i would give you credit for this answer, but i already awarded it to Dean.....about 5 months ago????
I've put some oversize turnigy motor and 40A ESC in it and now i'm waiting for a 4s 50c 850mah battery to make it fly.
Am I looking at the servos wrong, or is the Ailerons and the elevators share servos? Looking at picture 2 above. Looks like an interesting plane. What about for Intermediate fliers just coming out of the beginners stage?
The plane is a little deciving. It looks like it has ailerons and elevator as separate functions, but it is actually eleavon mixing. It is actually really cool the way they set it up and it works great! Makes for a very nimble little jet. I would highly recommend very intermediate to expert flying ablities to run these jets. They are small an pretty fast, so it can get away from you pretty fast. I have both the AMX and the F-35. They are a lot of fun and can handle quite a bit of wind due to the
Ailerons & elevator share the servos & you mix 2ch. Can you fly only with the ailerons & elevator? If so you will be able to fly is AMX. If not I would practice with a plane that you can fly now. The jet has a really high roll rate. I fly mine almost every day and it loves wind up to 20knotts. Heaps of fun to fly once you workout the speed of roll you like. I have mine set on 60. I can tell u my settings if you like.
I would not recommend this plane if you are not used to fast rolls and large loops. The Ailerons and elevator use shared sevos mixed with a vtail mixer or mixed in your Tx. I would also recommend if you get this is to strengthen the wings and tail with carbon rods or tape.
If you search this site, look for the Turnigy nano-tech 850mah lipo battery. They fit these jets perfectly and provide me with more than 5 minutes of flight time using throtle management. They are a great battery for the price.
Can anyone tell me what size EDF fits in this airframe? I have the 64mm setup from the larger HK F-18 Blue Angels Hornet. I'm lookin to see if that fan and motor would fit in this smaller scale jet. ANYONE? ANYONE? =)
Ciao, This models fly well, 5/7 mm ailerons and 10 mm the depth, the fan from 55 varec well on this model. the battery gives 5 minutes of flight.
It a very good speed ok.
it is a 50mm fan used in this jet. You may be able to fit a 55mm with some careful trimming, But it flies nice on the stock. But upgrade to a better quality later in life.
I can, the plane flies nice on the stock fan and motor. Just check that the fans blades are on tight and that they are balanced before flying as mine were slightly off. becareful on launch as it does tend to roll out left or right very easily.
the stock 50mm edf is perfact for this jet, go pick urself up some high discharge nano tec turnigy batteries like the 850mah 3s 25-50c that will give you the thrust you need but not for long tho, maybe trie the same battery but in 1000mah? higher discharge means no added weight....bigger edf and motor does. hope this helped
Can someone tell me what would be a good TX/Rx system for this? as inexpensive as possible and also do i need to buy a connector for the battery? Also whats a good inexpensive charger too? Thanks
hi john hc sells a very good 2.4ghz radio but i would get the 6 channel with left hand throtal, or mode 2 and you may need a connector for the bat. but i would ask hc for that one. but if you can solder i would just get deans connector and put those on. and now for a charger hc also has a new one that will charge 5 batterys at once, that is the way to go. I have an electri-fly whitch can charge 4 at the same time so the chgr that hc has is about 34.00 and the electifyy gose 99.00 new or you can also look on rcu for classifyes and get a used one but what ever you decide on i wish you the best. may the lord be with you Paul
if you want it really cheap have a look at the hobbyking simplex 1-4s charger.
but it will be worth the money to get an accucel-6 or hobbyking eco6 charger. the display will help you to check back your capacity. (remember: never discharge your lipo batteries more than 80% of the capacity).
but accucel-6 and eco6 need an extra power supply. you can get it at hobbyking, too (e.g. 12v 5a power supply).
most charger have some plug adapters included. but you can't count on it. so better order a wire for your plug-system (what ever you use) or take a solder iron and help yourself.
you can use the small jst-plugs, xt60, deans, 3,5mm, etc.
the balancer plugs will fit.
don't forget to order some extra batteries. 800mah or 1000mah 3s are the best.
yup i dont care about looks if i cant tell up from down i paint the bottom of all my planes a yellow or gloss white or red ...stripe's look cool too and work well seeing them and keeps the paint job lookin real some what .
well, i just came back from the maden flight and i must say,,, for the price, one of the nicest little jets around. 3 clicks right ail. and off and running. i added a small piece of s**** steel in the front and perfect.other than the reciever all stock, and it is fun. i flew it on 70 % throws and it is a blast.if your thinking about buying one, and are not sure if its worth the money, let me say yes,, yes it is. tomorrow a new larger lipo and ill keep you posted.
damm, it would be a cool plane to fly indoors - our indoor weight limit is 500grams.
I flew my F14 Flat scale DIY indoors, wow it stessed me out. this would be fun
This is the J-power AMX, and has been around for a little bit. It is a pretty good flier with a decent power system. John Barnes did a full review on rcgroups****, just search for "Jpower amx", there is a 26 page thread on it.
OOPS, this one is smaller then the original 24" WS Jpower bird, interesting. I wonder who makes it being it's not exactly an everyday subject choice for a paint scheme. Sorry for the missinformation!
I guess it IS made by Jpower, just this is the new mini versions, so the review is no good for this one. I wonder if they are going to do a mini panther
I flow this model last sunday and it is fantstic! Very easy to pilot and no trimming needed. Just throw it straight ahead and apply a little of elevator. It is a blast! During the landing no tendence to stall. I had land just in my feets. Very good plane in affordable price.
Wow! I flew it this weekend and loved it. So, worth every penny. I have mine with out missles. It flies awesome and people on the field loved it. On thing. You will need to add more throw to the elevator and lower the throw to the ailerons. Enough power to fly but can get faster with bigger C battery.
The stock plane needs a bit of work to get it flying well. The elevator push rods need to be replaced with stiffer ones or you need to make a guide to stop them bending too much. The stock motor is fine, although the intakes aren't providing enough air at low speeds - i would recommend cutting cheetah holes to give it more low speed kick. The CG in the manual is spot on, but you need to give more elevator throw than the manual says. It does have a nasty tendancy to torque roll on full power

This is good fun! Flys great in moderate winds. Does get small fast. Looks better than mini f16 and f18, Some how al little bigger. Pick of the bunch together with mini sabre! Bombs tend to break off with landings, You can glide here in. Handlaunch fullpower and throw straight ahead. Enough room for RX in fuselage unlike mini F16. Cut away some foam and you can fly a rhino 1050 3sp1. Only down point is it looks more like a toy than a RC jet.

Great plane. On the first hand launch it didn't take off... You need to add more throw on elevator and less throw on the ailerons. I went 50pcnt on the ailerons and 125pcnt on the elevator. Good Luck...

very good looking model. It will be ready in 10 min. The motor isn't enought powerful for unlimited vertical :( but it's enough powered model. If you a little foam you can attach a 1000mah battery. Stock battery is only for 5 min and get very hot. Landing is easy because it can fly with low speed
