Does this motor run in reverse,(and at the same efficiency/speed)? I'm planning to build a 2 motor, and I'd like the props to turn in opposite directions.
Den Yusuf  17 points - 5/17/2013

How Max Pull for this motor?
 Steeve 132 points
Approximately 750g using a 3S battery with a 8x4 GWS prop.

hello would you recommand this motor for long range, endurance fpv flights ?
 Michael 44 points
If you are looking for relatively inexpensive brushless motor then yes it can be recommended. Not sure what your definition of endurance is but I fly for 25minutes at a time (until batteries are exhausted), and these motors are still spinning fine at the end of the 25 minutes. There have been some comments about bearings going after some time and I also have had 1 out of 4 get a noisy bearing (still flying it), I can't say it is a defect as my motor is wing mounted and it has had some prop strikes during very windy (cross wind) days, but as it is a $9 motor I guess you get what you pay for, and they are cheap enough to replace if/when needed. On the other hand long rang FPV involves LRS transmitter, video TX, OSD and or telemetry so the kit is going to be a bit more expensive than your average parkflyer, in that instance I would probably be looking as some of the more expensive motors just for build, vibration, bearing quality over the $9 motor. Hope that helps a little :)

It won't even let me ask the moderator a question! I think it just recently allowed me to post on product links, but I keep getting emails that say someone has responded to one of my posts' but always takes me to the orange receiver product page...and I have to log in every time I posr- even though I'm already logged in. I've never seen a forum software act like this. Do you know what thread ***p ing is? It won't even allow me to type it! It must be a really horrible thing. Never heard of it. Can't ask anyone. Can't communicate directly with other members...no private chat. No place to ask. No way to erase my remarks that are placed on the incorrect thread. No help. I suppose the moderator will boot me shortly, because of the posts I've made already. I've had to place all replays FROM this board in my spam folder because the links always take me to the wrong thread. I'm ***med about it all. :(

does anyone know why this forum will not allow me to "reply"?
 Steeve 132 points
Sadly, I think this may have to do with how much you've purchased at Hobbyking. For example I am a Platinum Member and I believe that status is obtained by buying a certain amount. I have read that the member status unlocks certain forum features. Can anyone add to, or confirm this information please?

I just bought this motor- and a pack of 8 X 4 props, Turnigy nano-tech 2650mah 3S 25~50C Lipo Pack, Hobbyking SS Series 35-40A ESC, and Turnigy 420 Balancer/Charger 2S~4S. I'm trying to modify a Guillows' 48" Flying Eagle (toy styrofoam glider) as a "proof of concept" trainer. I uploaded the project video today! You guys on this forum are great!

Hi! Which prop would everyone recommend for the most efficient setup? I have 7x4, 7x6 and 8x6 props in my box of spares so if one of those would work that would be awesome! Will credit best answer :)
 Michael 44 points
I used 7x4.5 with this motor on my Arttech Cessna brushless conversion (650grams) and it flew awesome. I also tried 7x4, and 7x6, props were all the TGS Sports props. I am now running the L2220-1400 with an 8x3.8SF (suits the motor shaft better), but I will be changing it back to D2826 1400KV with TGS Sports 7x4E was sweet power/speed combination on my model. Just watch your amps if you take a high pitch.

The prop size you can use depends largely on the number of cells you power the motor with, and whether you prioritize speed or thrust. On a 3s setup, I found that I can use up to 8x4 without exceeding the max power dissipation. I think your 8x6 prop would be a bit much on 3s but would be fine on 2s. I have also used a 7x6 APC on 3s but the 8x4 provided more thrust(less speed) for 3D flight which is what I wanted :-)
 R/CNewbie 3807 points
Cheers lads, great advice! I'll use the 7x4E first and see how it goes :) Happy flying! Regards -Al

i absolutely love these motors & fly them in everything from my larger foamies, to my quads & wings.....but i keep having to buy more & feplace them when the bearings wear out, which is fairly quickly, 7 i would MUCH rather just put some ceramics in these & not worry about them for a while.....but i cant find the bearing measurements anywhere for these....anyone know?
 Michael 44 points
Hi Aaron, how long are you getting from each motor? I am using two on my YC-14 scratch build with 18 flights totaling around 150 minutes of flight time, so far so good.
 Michael 44 points
Aaron, I may have spoken to soon, one of my motors on the twin YC-14 is now starting to make a bit of a bearing rumble... :)

does this motor comes with connectors??
 Omar 20 points
Yes, this motor comes with the connectors at the most they might need to be soldered on but quite easy to do.

I have an easystar 2 that weighs ~1.2kg. What would be a suitable motor with the same diametre and maybe even similar mounting holes
Smacko41  5 points - 5/5/2013

Been using this on a Bixler 2 for a month now. Get 231W at 19A with the stock 7x4E prop. This is higher than rated power but motor is warm after 16min of sportish flight (oxymoron on a Bixler 2 I know). Good thrust, will go vertical quite a long way before running out of momentum and enough to develop wing flutter on level flight into the wind. Bixler weighs 800g so thrust probably around the 700g mark per the enclosed spec sheet.
 Smacko41 5 points
Sorry Bixler 2 stock prop is actually 7x5E which is what gave me the power figures above.

can i use a Hobby King 30A ESC 3A UBEC for this........???
 Steeve 132 points
I use the HK-SS30A-HW ESC with this motor no problem. I use an 8x4 gws prop. Power measurement did not exceed 22amps using a 3s battery.

2826/10 1400kv 3S lipo, 25amp Plush ESCs 3-blade 7x4.5 props and excellent power on an f330 frame.

Hi can I run with 8*6 3 blades prop and 40a plush or that motor will burn out. If yes how many grams will it pull?
 David 47 points
o on 3S battery
 Steeve 132 points
On 3s battery, I was approaching the max power dissipation with an 8x4 GWS prop. I don't have a thrust measuring jig but I hover (vertical) a 625g (all in) 3D model with this motor. Not a rocket but I get vertical climb. I estimate 750g of thrust. An 8x6 would likely exceed the max power, even worse since you have 3 blades on it.

I wanna use it on FPVRaptor
 zedooo 166 points
Don't do it...that's WAY too much prop :)
Michael  44 points - 4/25/2013

Thrust will depend on prop size (and battery 2S or 3S).

how many grams of thrust does this motor give?
 Steeve 132 points
I get at least 750g of thrust using 3s and 8x4 prop. I'm using this on a 625g (all in) 3D model. Unlimited vertical climb and hover.

I wonder if I could use it as a replacement motor for a fpv raptor, the raptor motor is apparently ****, and I got 2 of those sitting around
 Steeve 132 points
HK specifies 950g flying weight for the 1600mm version of the raptor. You would get thrust to weight ratio of 0.74 (give or take) with this motor, provided that you have enough room to mount an 8 inch prop above the fuselage. I'm no glider expert but I've read that a 60 to 70% ratio is ideal to provide a good climb rate without too much weight penalty. At 74% thrust to weight, it appears this motor would be good enough.

let me get this right .....if i buy the d2826-10 1400 kv brushless motor i should also buy a 2200 35c zippy compact battery and which is the best esc for this combo thanks keith
 Omar 20 points
You will be fine with a 40amp ESC, a Turnigy Plush 40amp ESC with a 7" prop will pull no more than 35amps.
 Skeet 50 points
I am running these exact motors on my f330 quad and I use Turnigy Plush 25 amp ESCs and a 2200mAh 3S pack and 3 blade 7x4.5 props and it is a rocket to say the least. I fly my quad nearly 3 flights a day for the past month and a half with zero problems. Max current is 21 amps so 40 amp ESCs is overkill.
keith  5 points - 4/16/2013

still unclear on which esc to use with a 2200 35c zippy compact lipo
 Steeve 132 points
I use the ESC product id: HK-SS30A-HW I use 3s/2200mah and 3s/1300mah nano-techs lipos. I use 8x4 prop, you can also use 7x6 if you need a smaller prop.

Hi there, anyone tried this motor with 4S ?
 Polardegos 54 points
It is not a problem using 4 cells, just don't exceed the rated amperage, that will burn it out. In theory you could use as many cells as you like, but the moment you start feeding amps into the motor, then you have to be careful. Imagine just attaching a 10 cell to it, and not giving throttle. All fine, motor is standing still after all, but punch it with 10 cells, and the motor goes into hyperdrive, and then quickly turns to charcoal.

How much thrust from a 7x5 prop, could I use with a 8x4 and a 40 amp esc?
 ColFlame 33 points
You could run a 7x5, just make sure you don't send more than 20A into the motor. I wouldn't do a 8x4 because it'll draw too much power and burn out. Try a lower kv motor for 8x4s. Credit if you feel this helped :)

who as a problem with motor overheating so fast?
 Mar11 1955 points
I do..but cause of me not the motor...im using an 8x6 prop on 3s...lol my motor smells after each fligth...still running..
 zodrik 3 points
Well mine overheat without the prop, I just got yesterday with a 30 amp red brick esc, and after a few second the motor and esc were so hot, so I tested the esc with another motor and just work fine, I tested the motor with another 30 amp esc and still overheat after a few second, really I've no idea i'll test the motor with a big esc and see what appen
 smokingcowboy 30 points
this motor requires a 40amp esc at least
 zodrik 3 points
I know but I don't think is the esc cause I have no prop on it and really get hot after 10 second at 50% throttle …* but tomorrow ill try with a 60 amp esc…*

Other stores sell similar motors and replacement shafts. Any 3.17mm shaft with a clip groove in the end that's long enough will work. I just used one from r c t i m e r DOT c o m yesterday and it worked great. You want a 41mm shaft for this motor. I used a 45mm shaft and ground it down and cleaned up the end with a belt sander.

thanks a lot for the info,I just went on rctime and check the shipping cost, finally will cost about 7 $ for 4 shaft...so let's say u still need to do a modification on them,so for me it's more easy to buy a drill bit for 4 $ and make out 4 shaft without waithing 2/3 weeks for the delivery, and i just use 1/8 wheel collar to tide up......i really appreciate the help u gave to me...
 clough42 15 points
Yup. If you're in the US or already placing an order, it's free shipping for a couple of shafts. Drill rod is cheap, though. Where I live, it's about $3US for 36 inches. How are you cutting the groove for the clip?
 clough42 15 points
Oh...just looked at the photos. You're using a stop collar.
 zodrik 3 points
well i don't use a clip what i use are Landing Gear Wheel Stop Set Collar 8x3.1mm,less pain to make a precise groove for the clip\

Amazing motor, & in fact, I have 10 of them for my various airplanes & quads.....The only thing wrong with them in my opinion is that the bearings are burnt up super quick, so was wondering if anyone knew the exact size, & if maybe HK has a better version of this bearing? ceramics would be awesome!
