does anyone know what esc comes in the goshawk? i know its a forty amp but i cant find one that looks the same on the site. Mine came with no wrapping or cover, its a dual layer esc and seems quite large for a 40amp. I ask cause im wondering if it can be programed at all. thanks
 Deven 10 points
I mean 30 amp. Stock esc is 30 amp. Can it be programmed??
 Yesyns 109 points
Yes, use this PRODUCT *ID: TR_PC . It is a programming cart. Or u can ask somebody to set your esc by using tx .

I guess it blocks the web addresses, but you could take the above text and past it behind the standard h t t p : / / and it is a pretty cool video of both ground and aerial views of some high speed low passes with this model and stock setup. Almost took our heads off with the third or fourth pass I don't remember which. Enjoy.
Yesyns  109 points - 4/28/2013

I have replaced the motor only with turnigy 2610, but the thrust was not high enough to reach high speed flying perfomance. No confident to do roll or inverted flying style. Still using 3s battery and 30A esc. If I use 40A Esc and 4s battery, won't it burn the motor? My first ori duct fan had some damage. See the pic. target=_blank>duct fan damage
 Will - TX 15 points
From what I have read on previous threads on this model the stock motor should be able to handle a 4s battery.
 Yesyns 109 points
I have test the motor 2610 & 30A esc & 3s batt & 7 blades fan. The result, the sound is much quieter but the wires on the motor getting hot. So I remove the motor and use back the ori 4300kv motor to avoid heat on the wire that might burn the foam side wall.
 Will - TX 15 points
Stock motor and 4s battery would work better and you shouldn't have the overheating problem. If its getting hot enough to melt the foam there is a serious problem.

is better to keep the hk's set up.you make the plane too heavy.is not by accident written the squear inches of the wings.is written because of the weight that plane can manage.now you need bigger wings.also 4s lipo usualy is for 70mm edf
 Will - TX 15 points
I think this plane can handle a little extra weight and if you need to you can use carbon fiber tape and apoxie to reinforce the wing structure.

LoL! I think it was lost in translation. Funny.

A friend of mine replaced the 30 amp with a 60 amp redbrick with separate bec and used a 40c 2500mah 4s... Te esc cut off after 2 min and he glided in for a landing...the esc was very hot,but lived...IMO he should have changed motor to a 3500 kv or maybe used a 90 mamp esc...anyone elso use 4s with same fan and motor? thax

I am currently flying with the stock setup however I do plan to upgrade to a 4s battery and a bigger esc later. I would not worry about the waiting area or the structural integrity as I think this model can handle the added weight. If you are really worried about it you could always use some carbon fiber reinforcement tape and some epoxy to strengthen your wings.the only major change to the added weight is going to be an increased stall speed requiring faster landings and take offs.

This plane has a lot of fans...With a few simple mods, like adding a rudder and doing the aileron mod its a real crowd pleaser
 Yesyns 109 points
The fan can be replace with more blades or less blades, but same size 64mm model. The more blades it use, the quieter it will be. More ctrls means extra servos are needed to archeive flying stability.
Robert  3 points - 4/21/2013

Could you point me on what glue can I use with this model. This is my first jet not shore what to use. Would 30 min epoxy ok?
 tania 12 points
15min is ok.30min is to slow.you will be bored.except if you are little fast and you know what you should glue,5min is ok
 Will - TX 15 points
For a quick fix at the field you can use foam safe CA glue or 5 minute epoxy.for general use and not so speedy repairs I would use 15 minute epoxy.

I have made a thrust vector nozzle from a plastic bottle and have done flying test . The result is no improvement in thrust and event getting worst when replaced with longger nozzle..

Where can I get the steerable nose wheel servo for this plane, or any other parts. This servo looks different than the spares I have.
 XRMF1 41 points
The HXT-900 servo will work good I replaced all of the servos on this aircraft with the HXT-900 servos
jacob  5 points - 3/28/2013

Is there a red arrow oversion?
 XRMF1 41 points
Not the same as this model but there is this, PRODUCT ID: T45-35-PNP
 Yesyns 109 points
This model painted not same as red arrow. You can repaint it since the body still white, if you wish.
Alex  25 points - 3/24/2013

get it in the u.k warehouse! and in red arrows paint scheme

i would sugest 90mm edf t45 gowshack would be more stable and fun to fly dj
 Yesyns 109 points
This model can fly as smooth as how good our finger steering on the tx. I still love to fly this baby.
Carlo  61 points - 3/15/2013

would this be a good first edf jet/ 4th plane
 maxduca63 130 points
first edf for sure if you stick to minimum weight with max 3s 2,2a. as 4Th plane...it depends which are the 3 before!!! you need good practice with 4 channel low wing flying. by the way this is very easy to fly!!!
 Carlo 61 points
ok thanks. the 3 planes before are axn, mini cessna and parkflyer p-51 mustang.
 maxduca63 130 points
I believe you will be able!!
Deven  10 points - 3/14/2013

Does it seem right to add around 2.5-3 ounces to nose to balance out? I know cog is 15cm from intake.
 Deven 10 points
I can answer myself!! It helps to have the canopy attached when balancing!!! 3s 2200mah 35-70c seems to balance great. 3s 2200mah 25-50c might need a tiny bit of weight in nose.
 maxduca63 130 points
with above battery (and canopy...) you do not need ballast even with the lighter battery.
Deven  10 points - 3/14/2013

The esc that came with plane was dead on arival. I'm waiting for a 60amp plush esc. Can I use nano tech 3s 2200 25-50c lipo? It's the C rating I'm wondering about. Also I have a 3536 900kv motor. Can I use this motor??
 Deven 10 points
I now know that 900kv would not be good! Waiting on a watt meter to try to figure out necessary C rating and expected flight time.
 maxduca63 130 points
sorry for your esc mine burned after several flight. but 40a now is flying since years..why you need to change motor?? this is not a missile is ok for a semi-slow flight. I sill fly with a 25C which is for sure not the best but still enough for about 8 minute flying (of course not always at full throttle!!!).

I want to put retracts in mine, can anyone suggest which work best?
 maxduca63 130 points
I will avoid. if you put retracts (tricky work also considering wing is not enough thick) than you will need to improve power with a new motor which will require a new ESC and for sure a 4s battery. so a domino effect which brings this beautiful, light and easy model to become heavy and difficult!!!

Great answer max, thank you, and i will take your advice
 maxduca63 130 points
thanks to you for the credit. but I will thank you again when you will post your flight impression!! I am sure you will be even more satisfied. This was my first fan which is still flying after hundred of flights and... crashes!! be so smart to maintain it light!!!
 herropreeze 27 points
I have it, actually its my second one - i bought the kit second time as i had all the bits. The first one crashed badly - pilot error. Will maiden it this weekend'
 maxduca63 130 points
so you know already!!!!I was really impressed when I discover it and I believe is really good. have good flights!!!
 herropreeze 27 points
I maidened this girl over the weekend. Six flights all hand launched and she flew beautifully, had to fiddle a little with trim and C of g but she is a beauty

Got the goshawk yesterday in the mail. Esc and aileron servo were both dead on arrival. Most stickers falling off, nose cone is super thin flexible plastic. Vertical and horizontal stabilizers are like cardboard! The seam of the foam fuse was separated most of the way. Canopy doesn't fit right. This is my first cheap plane so I didn't know what to expect. Depending on how it flies* it may be my last!! Got it together waiting for a calm day.
 texflyer 127 points
wow mine wasnt in this bad a shape but then i got it quite a while ago - wonder if its a different factory now? Flexible nose can be an advantage in hitting the ground BTW - it provides a crush zone. You may also want to create a mold of the nose so you can cast your own foam replacements if needed.

Where is the C/G on the T-45 Goshawk ? No manual was in the kit .
 Yesyns 109 points
Mine has a bit nose heavy. Workout COG and seem about 4 inch from the front tip, middle of the wing.

I have a T-45 Goshawk R?C 64mm EDF Jet EPO Plug-n-Fly . It came with no manual . Where is the C/G on this plane ?
 Deven 10 points
I read on a thread it is 15 cm back from leading edge of intake.
Ryan  1 points - 1/31/2013

is this a good beginner edf jet?
 Hector 6 points
No, but good jet for beginner is Red arrow hawk 35mm micro.Cost 60.27 plus shipping.
 Yesyns 109 points
For begginer, if you have bugget, better have flight simulator. Mode 1 is right throttle. Mode 2 is left throttle.
 texflyer 127 points
YES, this is a very good FIRST EDF. Assuming you already learned to fly using prop planes. No one should use ANY jet for their first plane. And a bigger jet like this is more stable in wind than the the micro jets.
Deven  10 points - 1/29/2013

Do I need an adapter to use nano tech lipos?? If so which one do I need.
 devslashnull 6 points
Well, with the PNF kit I received from the NL warehouse, I required the "XT60 to T-Connector Battery Adapter Lead". Nanotech LiPo pack has an XT60 connector (female), and the Goshawk ESC has a T-connector.
 Deven 10 points
I got mine already and the esc was a XT-60 conrction. The esc was also dead when it arrived.

First u have remove all undercarriages from the model. After that take 3mm spring steel wire or music wire, copy all the 3 undercarriage & use it. By this stiff undercarriages you can takeoff & land from concrete base. i.e. holyball ground/ sketing ring etc. but you cant take off it from grass. What u need for tak off is speed. This model have small wheels & flexible undercarriages which restrict model to move forward faster or to build up takeoff speed. That's why hand launch is the best method for model safety. After applying 3mmwire undercarriages you cant take off from grass & if you tried to do so you will get undercarriages out of your model.
nexundai  25 points - 1/17/2013

How could I improve the landing gear of this jet in order to take off and land on grass ?
 Will - TX 15 points
That's a bad idea. If you want to fly from grass then hand launch and belly land. This thing is too light to be adding cumbersome dead weight like larger gear. I understand why you would want that ability but not very feasible on this model. Maybe a larger heavier edf jet with low bounce rubber tires would be what you're looking for.

5 thumbs up!
This is a very stable plane, 4 cells is recommended for faster speed. Just upgrade the ESC to 50A, use 14.8v 2200 mAH 35 or 40C battery and 3500-4000 KV 2836 Motor and this jet will fly like a dream.

Just got it...fast shipping, good box, no damage. Kit is well assembled anf sets-up quicky. Was very nervous to fly b/c it was my 1st EDF jet..but once I launced it it flew great..just fast enough on stock system to be fun...but no so fast that you need shuttle launch site to fly. Will upgrade power system when i get bored and better at fast jets! Good paint scheme for visibilty also! Get it!!!

I have not got this jet, but ahve the British Red Arrow - 70mm fan jet. I have modified the plane extensively. If you have the fan unit able to fit this engine: HXT 2835 (380s) 3900KV Brushless Inrunner, change the fan unit to a 3 blade (I used a HET fan), put a 4 cell and a 50A ESC, you will have a smooth fast jet. These are really good floaters. This was my first ducted fan jet. Take the wheels off and make a drop bomb for hand launch.

plane come nicely packed, nice steady motor, very stable in flight ,but the canopy is not assembeld, and the front magnets are missing ,also the nose cone has no holes for the screws ,and in the foam there are no screw holes as well, landing gear construction very poor.other than that a very stiff foam and durable plane.
