You get what you pay for instead of paying for the advertising to snow you. When I put this business model to on of the biggest hobby suppliers they shouted me down and went instead for a glitzy web sit and the same old exorbitant prices and no real background on the product.

The best products here at HK get the best reviews and the dodgy ones get replaced with better ones through our feed back.

I am sure that the HK management can read between the lines and ignore our friendly banter when we all pick on a product for fun and when there are genuine deficiencies in the description and it performance in the field. Support docs usually get supplemented by an articulate modeler who posts a good file or video on how to etc.

Only complaint is delivery times and backorder delays. A shorter time to remove a backorder from a $600 order would help. These scales are blocking one of those orders for me now for 2 weeks!

This is a 7 dollar machine, not a scientific instrument. It is just a kitchen scale mechanically, but in a different package. So no, you most likely cannot recalibrate it.

besy way to see if it is out is weigh something you know the weight of. Then from time to time check it. For 6$ it will give you a ball park what your plane weighs in at. I just ordered one since I run electric where weight is a bigger factor

I'm thinking about using this as a portable scale for weighing fish after catching them. Looks like it will fit nicely in the tackle box.

If you manually lift up your model by this hook, you will have jerks and shocks that will be record a larger weight than it actually is. So a max reading would be pointless, IMHO. Also, did you notice the price...?

IYHO you sound like you are unfamiliar with this technology. Most which cqan sample and hold get past your kid like understanding by averaging the the samples and waiting for some consitency in the reading BEFORE holding the sample.

The question is not How it works, but does it do it to the industry accepted standard.

We are more used to Crocodile scales out here...they know how to bite to the core of the subject.

My current sample and hold scales were $25 for 25kg some years ago...planes are fatter now and 40kg sounds just right....but the hooks look like they might straighten out at about 20kg!

The hooks on this scale are very strong. I take thrust readings from all my models using this scale. It is very easy to do. Just attach a loop of cord around the tail, and hang the model from the scale. To take thrust measurements I turn on the scale after the model is hanging. I throtle up the motor and tap the wing with my fingers to keep the model from rotating. The scale reading is easy to see, and does not bounce around.
