I can upload a Turnigy nano-tech 2200mah 3S 45 ~ 90C with this charger??
 ElectricAussie 2780 points
Hi Giovanni, This charger will do a great job on your 2200mah/3S Lipos. Cheers, EA!

With what you get in the box, am i able to just use a car battery to power the charger and sufficiently power a battery ? or will i have to buy a conector ?
 Jebam 3 points
Hi Matt. Yes, what you get in the box is enough. No need for extra conector as long as your battery have the same xt60 conector that comes with this charger.
 DigDug 60 points
You might need larger crocodile connectors for a car battery as these are a bit small. It might work if you can attach it to smaller connectors that might be connected to the battery.
 Yang Yang 1 points
Or you can try using ATX power supply used in your desktop, a cheap one will do the job. I used a $10 ATX and the power output is sufficient to power up 2 charger that were charging at 6 amps total. Make sure you set the cutoff voltage as 10V in user program. Using car battery is not so convenient for in house charging.
 DigDug 60 points
An ATX PSU is perfect. I have mine rigged up to supply the Li-Po charger and separate 12, 5 and 3.3 volt outputs for other projects/testing. Also puts out decent amperage (~15A) for our applications.

Hello, I would like buy this charger for battery "Turnigy LSD 6.0V 2300mAh Ni-MH Flat Receiver Pack" and my question is will be it work together ? I dont want let burn out this battery pack... thank you for your answers
 DigDug 60 points
This charger will work for Ni-MH packs but you have to set it up for Ni-MH charging with a voltage cut-off. You will also need an adapter cable for the Ni-MH pack. That will be a female XT60 plug to male JR Servo plug.

Is there a balance lead?
 Drugos 1975 points
No,there are only balance ports.

Can I charge 3S and 4S LiPos if I power the charger with 12V?
 Ryan 4 points
yes, u can.but one battery at a time..
 ElectricAussie 2780 points
Hi Max, The input voltage doesn't put a limit on the output voltage, as the charger's internal circuitry steps up the voltage for LiPos up to 6S. You just need to be sure that your power source has stable output of 50W (preferably 60W) or more. Cheers, EA!
 Yang Yang 1 points
Definitely, I bought one of it and my power supply voltage is 10.6V * 5.1A (charging 3S battery at 4A), it is still charging as long as the cutoff voltage is set as 10V in the user program and the power supply is capable of supplying 50W of electrical power( I used ATX desktop supply). The supply voltage range is fixed at 10~18V. Niether higher nor lower supply voltage will cause input voltage error.
Dylan  8 points - 4/30/2013

what power suplly is minimum required for this
 ElectricAussie 2780 points
Hi Dylan, The PS should be 11vdc-17vdc with at least 60W output to take full advantage of this charger. Something like PRODUCT ID: HK15-5 is what you need. Cheers, EA!

Anybody?
 fly3rman 1 points
Argh, Post gone Wrong. Does anybody know if this is CE Conform? (Germany customs)
 Ral fRotten 1075 points
It does, you can see the ICON on the front of the charger lower right side
 Henry. 52 points
It doesnt really proof anything with china stuff since its very easy to fake which they also do a lot.
 Ral fRotten 1075 points
If you think like that Henry you can't buy anything Chinese, and your on the wrong site, I think everything on this site is made in china!...
 Henry. 52 points
I dont have any problems with fake or not fake CE marks, just as long as i seem it to be electric safe and HK have quite good things in this aspect.

You could buy any chinese thing you want but the CE mark could easily be printed on anything with no problem at all but could you trust to 100% that the company that did that had (according to law) tested the eguipment to its fully extent as the CE mark tells them to do before they export it? I seriously doubt that in 96% of all cheap china equipment to the consumer market.

Unless a company doesnt have all the papers for a CE test at hand to proof that they were allowed to do so the CE mark are not allowed to be there.

 fly3rman 1 points
Excatly, i saw the logo, but i talking about papers, which must be inside the shipping package, to proof the CE. So back to the question :]
 Henry. 52 points
Its actually impossibe to know from a cutomer point, only the company a really tell you if its markt right. But the problem is that even if it was fake so would a company say it was totally genuine.

**By affixing the CE marking on a product, a manufacturer is declaring, at its sole responsibility, conformity with all of the legal requirements to achieve CE marking and therefore ensuring validity for that product to be sold throughout the European Economic Area.** Wikipedia.

So with others words so promise HK that all products with a CE mark on is ok in all aspects to the CE mark. This is quite much and also very very expensive to test it out as they reslly should do because they cant promise anything if they havent tested the product.

I would be happy to hear HK say its really a genine CE mark and even a FCC mark and that it have been fully tested and such but utill the day they say it im a little doubtful but i hope im wrong.
 ferret 8 points
Hi. Would the C6 cope with 19V? My Dads got a 19V ps that I can have. Thanks for any info :)
 Henry. 52 points
If i dont remember wrong so did i test a 19V ps when i first bought this but it complained about to high voltage and didnt start.

You could of course try since it doesnt destroy it if the one you get is different in this manner. You or your dad could otherwise buy cheap laptop ps and that have lower output voltage around 16 - 17V or so. I have one that puts out 16.8V and that works perfectly.

Just as a matter of interest people,.. I know it says it's a 5amp charger, BUT..it's description says it's a "HKC6" I wondered what the C6 stood for?, and when I checked mine it actually charges at upto 6amps!!! "It's a SIX AMP charger!!!"
 Jakub 9 points
C6 stays for 6 lipo cells :) hope have helped :)
 Ral fRotten 1075 points
Jakub 6s = 6 lipo cells, It's a 6amp charger, it's written on the front of the charger! top right hand side! the 5amp in the description is WRONG!!
 Jakub 9 points
i have seen a lot of similiar charges and believe they all share the same guts - and all of them are rated at max 5 a (even in the description of this one you have 5a regardles what someone put on the box) - and the number 6 after c refers to 6 lipo cells (6s) the charge can balance during charging - compare to imax b6 *)
 Ral fRotten 1075 points
Jakub, I have this charger, the program can be set for 6amps! It's program lets you set 6AMPS! whether or not it's on the the casing the software goes to 6amps! you may have seen a few similar chargers but obviously not this one! If you don't know don't make random statements! you waste peoples time!

 Ral fRotten 1075 points
Jakub, I just looked at the charger you refered to the Imax b6, It's rated at 1-6amps! Obviously you don't have that one either!
 Ral fRotten 1075 points
Sorry jacob, My mistake I was looking at Turnigy Accucel-6 50W 6A Balancer/Charger the one this is cloned off.
 Jakub 9 points
Ralf, you asked a question and I was trying to answer it to the best of my knowledge. But I think we misunderstood - you asked about the C6 in the name - I believe it is derived from the number of cells in series it can charge and not from the max current it can handle. However, it is quite interesting that once again HK is giving not quite accurate description (it says 5.0A on this page above) :) Have a good day!
Ca4lo  67 points - 4/26/2013

does this need a transformer like the accucell-6 or not?
 Ral fRotten 1075 points
Yes it needs a 5amp supply
 Ca4lo 67 points
are there any similar to this or the accucell that dont need a transformer?
 Ral fRotten 1075 points
If you run this on 12volts like a car battery, then it does'nt need the power supply, the middle set of leads in the picture above is for getting power from a car battery (12volts), There are smaller chargers that come with a power lead (like a B3 charger) but they will take 3 times longer to charge. I think this is best value/dollar, Good luck with your choices

ok thanks

which would be the better choice: Turnigy Accucel 6 or this charger and which one would be easier for the beginner in lipo batteries. Thanks!

All of these chargers are pretty much the same. Master one (it's not difficult) and you wont have a problem with the rest. This is a great charger for the price and it works well. Be sure to charge your LiPo's in a LiPo-safe bag!

Actually the right size for the charging input connector is 5.5mmOD x 2.5mmID - a 2.1 does not fit (or at least the couple I tried did not.) Thanks!
 ElectricAussie 2780 points
Hi Scott, Glad you found a connector that fits. I'm surprised that the 2.1mm ID wouldn't work, as that's the size that works on both of my HK/Turnigy chargers. I would have expected the socket on all HK chargers to be all the same since the power supplies sold by HK are standardized with the same plug. You learn something every day in this hobby. Cheers, EA!
Scott  5 points - 3/9/2013

Can anybody tell me the input connector size? I've purchased a couple of what look like standard connectors but for some reason the inner diameter is too small for the center pin.
 ElectricAussie 2780 points
Hi Scott, The connector plug should be a 5.5mmOD x 2.1mmID, but a 5.5mm x 2.5mm should also work. Easiest way might be to take the charger with you to your local electronics store so that you can try the plug before you buy it. Cheers, EA!

is this suitable for filed charging and if so, how long to charge a 2200 maH 3s battery?
 Drugos 1975 points
It depends on the Amp output you select in the charger.I charge my 2200mAh 3s batteries at 2.2 Amps with this charger and it takes about 20 minutes to charge them.Nano-tech batteries can be charged up to 5 Amps so it will take less than ten minutes to charge them.

 Smyger 39 points
I assume it is the same procedure as when charging LiPo batteries, when the battery is close to full, the charger lower the charging amp bit by bit, untill the battery is full, then the charger automatically stops.

Hi Dragan, The charging/balancing process is fully automated. Once you set the number of cells and the charge rate amps, you start the charge and the charger will stop/beep when the pack is fully charged. Cheers, EA!

I ordered 3 PRODUCT HobbyKing 50watt 5A X-Charger/Balancer. Two out of Three are working great. One of them does not come up with the option LiPo battery type when I press the "Battery Type" button. Other battery types come up but LiPo battery does not. Like I said the other 2 work fine and I know how to use the battery charger. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this issue? Thanks in Advance.

Input voltage?
 alex.khoroshko 333 points
10-18volts (named "Operating voltage range" in specification). You can use this charger from car battery or power supply from HK: 9052000014 (just copy this ID into the search string). Most of notebook power supplies seem to exceed these limits (they are 19V). Some toshiba notebooks have a 15V power supply, but the internal hole of the connector is too big, which is fixable (I use it this way).
Spark29  12 points - 2/16/2013

I cant calibrate my charger, dont know why. I hold up the - and the start button, (second and last), plug the power cable, and it sends me to the charging menu, just like it would do if i´*m not pressing anything. Did they changed anything in the firmware? or am i doing something wrong here?
 alex.khoroshko 333 points
I was unable to calibrate as well. Seems that it has a new firmware - internal resistance and voltage tests were added. I checked out the precision and was very pleased - the difference between shown and real value was no more than 0.01V. I have a thought, that voltage measuring circuit was upgraded, so no calibration is needed any more. But may be I was lucky to receive the accidentally good charger. I would like to read about your experience - do you have a bad precision, or why do you want to calibrate it?
BEST ANSWER CREDIT AWARDED
 Spark29 12 points
i need the calibration problem to solve a balancing precision issue, because in the charger it display a perfect balance, in a 3S lipo, all the sells are at 4.20V, but when i measure it with a battery monitor, the number are all over the place, like 4.18, 4.22 and 4.20. I was hopping that the calibration process would help me fix this issue.
 alex.khoroshko 333 points
That's weird. It fits standard -0.03v precision for lithium rechargeables, but more than tolerance I was getting with the total pack voltage. I'll check the balance voltages today and report the results

I live in Canada, I bought this charger and just realized it doesnt come with power supply. What kind of p/s do I need?
 Ral fRotten 1075 points
You can use this one from hobbyking 15volt 7 amp PRODUCT ID: 9052000023 it's about $14 postage, it comes with a US style lead, the lead is interchangeable. or you can use a laptop power supply as long as it's no more than 18volt and can supply 5 amps minimum.
 alex.khoroshko 333 points
See my previous post for this charger to read about the other power supply options.
 Dlca88 30 points
This is the charger that i got.
 alex.khoroshko 333 points
It has the 19V output, but maximum allowed voltage is 18. Well, it might be safe, but do it on your own risk - reliability can be significantly decreased. I have a more powerful (more current) 19V power supply - but decided not to use it because of potential problems - I use 12V wall power supply from my scanner and connect charger to my home PC when I need more power than 20W. I ordered 15V power supply for toshiba notebook, but it is still being shipped to me.
 Ral fRotten 1075 points
Dica88 that power supply is only 1.5amp! it is not enough for the charger, the charger needs up to 5amps! things will go wrong if you draw more than 1.5 amps with it! You can't charge at 2.2amps if your power supply maximum output is 1.5amps!!!!!!!!! on the power supply it says OUTPUT 19volts at 1.58amps
 Thery2 17 points
Any Laptop power supply between 12 to 19V works just fine.
 Fredrik 13 points
The spec says 10-18v so i guess 19v is too high.

I intend to get this for charging the Turnigy LSD 4.8V 2300mAh Ni-MH battery. since I am based in asia, my domestic power supply will be 230 VAC, 50 Hz, I assumed that the charge does not come with DC adapter, I only need to find one that outputs ~15 VDC, right?
 alex.khoroshko 333 points
Yes, just make sure, that it has the correct polarity (I assume, that it is the same as my turnigy charger, so plus is on the center pin). Also, you can connect it to 12V of your home computer, you'll need the correct connector. You can use PATA to SATA power cable.
BEST ANSWER CREDIT AWARDED
 Ral fRotten 1075 points
Right, and capable of outputting 5 amps!
 alex.khoroshko 333 points
well, actually you can use and less powerful one. I often use the 12V 1.66A power supply from my very old BENQ scanner. It's just necessary to meet the power requirements. For example, my config - 12v*1.66A is about 20W. Divide power by maximum battery voltage and you'll get maximum safe current: 1s: 20/4.2 = 4.76a. decrease a bit for safety - 4A is good. 2s 20/8.4 = 2.38, 2A is safe 3s 20/12.6 = 1.6. 1.4 is safe As you can see, this power supply is good for 1.3 ah 3s batteries or 2ah 2s. Oh, and about connection to computer - I didn't tell the whole truth. You should cut off the PATA power connector and solder the compatible connector, or connect charger with crocodile-connector cable supplied. Last one seems to be not very safe in terms of potential short circuit. Yellow is 12, black is zero.

 alex.khoroshko 333 points
I answered the question above. Also, 30W theoretically (not taking into account the loss in the charger itself) allows to charge 3s at 2.4A, so standard 1C charge (2.2A) would would be fine.
 Ral fRotten 1075 points
Dica88 that power supply is only 1.5amp! it is not enough for the charger, the charger needs up to 5amps! things will go wrong if you draw more than 1.5 amps with it!
 Ral fRotten 1075 points
You can't charge at 2.2amps if your power supply maximum output is 1.5amps!!!!!!!!!
 alex.khoroshko 333 points
Oh, come on! I charge 2S at 2A even though power supply is 1.66A max. The charger has voltage converter - it decreases voltage, increasing current at the same time. Power - that's what matters.
dennis  5 points - 1/9/2013

before i order I just wanna double make sure* will this handle 4s?
 ElectricAussie 2780 points
Hi Dennis, Yes, it'll handle 4S fine. However, when you were asking about the little DC-4S charger you didn't mention 4S in regards to your 5000mah LiPo. If you're wanting to charge a 5000mah/4S at the fastest rate (1C=5A) you will be drawing a lot more than the 50W this charger can deliver (15V x 5A = 75W). This charger will be much quicker and more versatile than the DC-4S, but probably won't charge a 5000mah/4S in an hour. It'll take more like 90 minutes. Cheers, EA!

Does not charge LiFE or Lion. Which is why I bought it for. Seems alright anyway. Could do better with the descriptions

Test with FlightMax 4S and with Hyperion G3 3S. Charge is OK, seem to be well balanced. Infos are clearly displayed. It's easy to understand each features in few minutes even without manual. Discharge or storage( of fully charged lipo ) works but with no fan the charger became very hot, even when drawin 0.5A on 3S, so I won't recommand using discharge to ensure durability of the charger. Great value for the price.

Fine charger for charge power upto 50W, balancing is accurate to about 10mV. Very easy to use, good value for money, balancing plugs are included. The cable set not have a transmitter charging plug.
