Mine waddles through the sky like a pregnant cow. Could have something to do with the fact that the plane is about an equal mixture of foam and glue. (not the toughest foam, don'tcha know)

Hi There, would anyone recommend a 3 blade prop on this plane? , and if so what size without drawing more than 20amps? Thank you for your response in advance.

hi

what is the CG recommended?

C.G. is 24.8 centimeters from tip of nose. Right about at the front of the stripe on the wing. Thanks**Bill

I just Received my Coota...I have several 3Cell lipo batteries in the 1500 MAH range.. The comments in your add say all you need is a 3cell battery around 1800 MAH and your own receiver. In the Items required part of the ad it says it need a 2cell 1300 MAH battery. My question is, will the ESC/Motor work with either a 2cell battery or a 3cell battery ? Also, does the ESC need to be programmed for the 2 or 3 cell battery option? PEPlane
 Dave 10 points
I am using a 3 cell 1500mAH battery in mine and it works great. Have flown it more than a dozen times with no problem. It has a lot of authority at full throttle with 3 cell - so would recommend 3 cell. There is no programming for the ESC for 2 or 3 cell batteries.

Have you checked the amps? How many amps at full throttle?

Hi just uploaded another short vid of me flying and landing my coota

Just a little warning the supplied 8X6 propeller will burn out your motor it pull 20 amps through your 13 amp motor. Change it to a 8x4 and the motor will only pull 12.8 amps and run much cooler
 alzeal 70 points
yup i burned out my first motor, check out my vid, i upgraded to a 2208/15 1210 kv and am now using a 8x4 apc prop. My prop in the vid was drawing too much amps.

Alzeal,

You feel that this is the right motor? 2208/15 1210 kv, I can't seem to find this motor on HK?

Anyone got any ideas for a replacement for the stock Coota motor?

CAN I ORDER COOTA FROM USA WAREHOUSE TO SHIP TO VANCOUVER,BC, CANADA?
volto  40 points - 10/11/2010

Ugly little plane, would be good for FPV though with that clear canopy. I might get one one of these days if I have $75 to blow.
 lamberto 9 points
wow thanks volto for your 2 cents..thats the discussion i was looking for...

lamberto gets a point from me for a supreme demonstration of sarcasm. LOL

You can order from china or USA, its listed in both warehouses. You have to click on the usa warehouse on the home page to order it from there and the shipping will be much less.

Did I hurt your feelings Lamberto, because you bought this cheap ugly piece? Aww.

Paul, I use a 3 cell 2200 mah battery.. works fine.. use stock prop also.. my tx has a throttle .. don't have to go full blast at all times..back off a little and the motor will do fine.
 Sloperdude 1309 points
Did you perchance check the Amps, Denny? It sure would be nice to know. So much better information than "works fine."

3 thumbs up!
The Coota flies great. Unfortunately my second flight ended up with the left wing folding up after coming out of a dive. 150 ft up, wing folds in half, plane crashes and breaks into about 10 pieces. Disappointed in the quality of this kit. Do not fly without somehow reinforcing the wings.

Just got my Coota
FAST delivery, 3 days from order
On opening the plane was packaged neatly, complete, and in perfect condition, n for the price with servos, esc, and brushless motor, come on...No brainer :) No manual but glue with epoxy and install rec and batt, ur good to go in less than an hour.
Flying is also a breeze, let it catch speed and up elev. Flies like a trainer, also big plus with wheels for land flights, BEST BUY

1 thumbs up!
I got my Coota about two weeks ago I like everything but the stock propeller. The supplied 8X6 draws 20 amps! out of a motor that is rated for 13 amps max. I changed it to a 8X4 and I draw 12.8 amps at full throttle now. If you keep the stock propeller be ready to buy a new motor. One other thing I had to reposition one of the aileron covers because it was blocking the servo travel but other than that I'm happy.

This little airplane is very enjoyable. Out of the box it is ready to fly in less than 30 minutes. No manual supplied. I enjoy flying this plane in the snow. Setup: Turnigy nanotech 3S 1800mah and orange spektrum receiver. With 75 throttle 16,5 Amps which is close to the specs of the ESC. Flying time of around 30 minutes with less than half throttle. Takeoff is with half throttle in the snow, strong motor!! Enjoy!

I received my Coota with the vertical stabilizer bent at the top. I was able to reshape it so it doesn't even show. I removed the nose weight so I will be able to install a larger battery, read more below. The assembly of the Cotta is fairly easy. If yo use the included epoxy it goes from runny to cured in seconds. You probably have 3 - 4 minutes to use it once mixed. I trimmed some of the plastic shield covering the aileron servo as it would rub whenoperated at maximum throws.
I was worried the nose gear would fall out in flight so I wrapped a rubber band around the nose so it will hold it in during flight.
I set the aileion throws 1 notch faster than the factory and left the elevator and rudder as set from the factory.
The first flight was in 8 mph winds. I needed to add a couple of clicks of right to the aileron and 3 - 4 down on the elevator. I flew for about 6 minutes and decided I should land. I had to make 3 attempts since the Coota didn't want to land. After the flight I determined the plane was a little tail heavy. I added 1 of the weights I removed back to the nose and flew again. The Coota flew great! I an 8 mph wind I was able to float the plane down with a little throttle at the end to smooth out the landing. Can't wait to get it on the water.
I am currently flying with a 7.2 volt 1300Mah battery and should be able to get 9 minutes with easy flying. I plan on going to an 1800 Mah battery. I will probably need to remove more of the weight when I do.
