HobbyKing 2.4Ghz 6Ch Tx & Rx V2 (Mode 2)(THROTTLE ON THE LEFT)
Hobbykings T6A 2.4ghz system is an entry level transmitter offering the reliability of 2.4Ghz signal technology and a receiver with 6 channels.
This transmitter requires a PC to modify any of the channel variables including mixing and servo reversing.
Key Features; 6-channel 2.4GHz transmitter with servo reversing. Easy to use control for basic models. Includes 6-channel receiver Trainer system option. This system must be programmed via PC cable.
Included; 1 x 2.4Ghz transmitter 1 x 2.4Ghz Receiver 1 x Bind Plug.
Note: Only HK-T6A receiver is comptible with HK-T6A transmitter.
Only HK-T6Av2 receiver is compatible with the HK-T6Av2 transmitter.
The only way to do so is to download a save file of the factory settings and then open it in the T6config program. I see that on the page for this product in the International Warehouse someone did upload a save file of the factory settings. On this page I did upload a few different settings under the files tab. One of mine is something close to factory. I changed all of the settings to what it comes as factory and then saved it. I didn't save them right when I got my Tx. It will say that the file is 0kb. It is actually 1kb saved in a Zip folder. Just so you know that it is a working link to download the save file. The 0kb file size is a bit of a glitch.
Ok, so I'm completely new to the hobby, so... I plan on building the FT Flyer as my first plane, and I wanna know, is this transmitter any good? How do I use it? Is the software used to program the transmitter available for mac? What do the channels on the receiver do out of the box? I'm sorry if these are stupid questions, but as i said before, I'm a complete noob to the hobby.
I haven't had any problems with the Tx yet. At least not any that I know of. It looks like there is software to program this with MAC OSX. There is a link to download that software under the files tab for this product in the International Warehouse. I personally don't know if it works. You need to also order the cable to be able to make changes to it. One of the biggest issues is having to reverse a servo, but since you are scratch building a plane, it actually isn't an issue. Just be sure to test out the servos before installing them. Simply altering how you have the servos hooked up to the control surfaces can change the direction of them. If that makes sense. This Tx should be perfectly fine for an FT Flyer. You'll need the cable to expand and grow into the hobby. But you don't need the cable right away. Out of the box this will work just fine. Again, as long as you're careful with the servos since you can't reverse their direction without the cable.
Can anyone tell me if the HK 2.4Ghz 6ch Tx&Rx v2 (mode2) comes already pre-programed. If so can you tell me what is on each of the 1-6 channels from the factory, I am old school and haven't flown since the 70's and was still all analog. I would love to get my plane in the air. How do you become a member to be able to get in the forms? Butch
If you order this Tx, it comes fully functional and you do not need the cable to use it, just to make changes. If I remember correctly, the factory settings are: Ch1 is Left and Right on the left stick (rudder), Ch2 is Up and Down on the right stick (elevator), Ch3 is Up and Down on the left stick (throttle), and Ch4 is Left and Right on the right stick (ailerons). Ch5 and Ch6 don't do anything factory/out of the box. I don't remember if it is switch A or switch B, but one is dual rates and the other is throttle cut off straight out of the box. You can use the switches or knobs for Ch5 and/or Ch6 if you use the cable to make changes.
This is just what HobbyKing sell. I have not tried it but I see no reason for it not to work. It is just the same as most adapters. I do not own Phoenix Flight Sim.
Ryan it has a trainer prot that takes Hobby King 2.4Ghz 6Ch Tx USB Cable (SKU: FS-L001). This has a simple Usb to serial built in it. The Tx takes a mini 4 pin dim (LIKE a S video).
Chad I started a NEW topic under Forum Home Forum Home > Transmitters and Receivers > Hobby King >
Hobby King 2.4Ghz 6Ch Tx & Rx V2 can you see it please on the Members Forum!
sure but it doesn't let me start a new topic. I've got a screen name, I click login, it takes me to a page w/my account info and only gives me an option to 'update' I click it and I repeat the process. Don't know how to use the forum
what do I do if my radio isn't responding to any changes I make to it? Whenever I try to set up my radio to accomodate my tailerons, it doesn't save the changes and they don't work correctly.
Chad I know you will not like for this but NOT Tailerons. Either V-Tail or Elevon or Ailvator maybe. So there are two options on your screen Load and Save. What you need to do before you do big changes it poke around the software. Try just a servo reversal. Once you master that then you can go onto you Tailerons (V-Tail). Please can we talk in the Members Forum (Blue tab at top of Page).
Chad ok just to make sure you have it all right, you must have connection between computer and transmitter. IE: if setup correctly when you move the levers you should see movement on the screen. Can you confirm that PLEASE?
Chad ok just to make sure you have it all right, you must have connection between computer and transmitter. IE: if setup correctly when you move the levers you should see movement on the screen. Can you confirm that PLEASE?
No. When you mix channels for elevons in combines the inputs from the elevator and aileron channels. This makes it where you plug the servos into the appropriate channels on your receiver and the two servos work together. Up elevator should make both elevons go up, down elevator should make boith elevons go down, and left aileron should make the left elevon go up and the right elevon go down, right aileron should make the right elevon go up and the left elevon go up.
I just did a Google search for "taileron" and got a bunch of hits. It actually is a correct term. It looks like it means when the entire tail fin/elevator moves instead of a control surface on the elevator. Like on high performance jet fighters. It still behaves like elevons but with the entire fin moving.
After you get the USB cable, download T6config and the driver you need, then you could just download "Save Files for T6config" that I uploaded under the files tab on this page. I have a Delta Wing mix there that you can just open and use right away. You might have to reverse a servo or two. If it still isn't working right for your plane, you might have to switch the two servos you have plugged in to the Rx.
Cables? Is the programming cable used for the "trainer option" too? I don't think so. How would you plug the usb end into another radio? Are there 2 "ports"? One for programming (usb/mini4 DIN) and another (3.5mm/3.5mm?) for training?
Yes, I am thinking of a "Buddy Cable" to link to my 9X. So the program cable for programming & FMS Sim - and a JR/Spek 2.1m cable for Buddy Box (1/8"plugs)?
Thank you, guys
Mark. I just got this radio and there is no place to plug in the 2.1m Buddy Box Cable you mention. There is ONLY a 4 pin DIN plug (for the program cable) - there is NO 1/8" plug for the JR Spektrum cable. The port is labled "trainer" but would require an adapter in order convert from 4-pin DIN to 1/8" plug to allow it to plug in to the back of the 9X/JR/Spektrum buddy port.
Yes, you can buy the USB cable listed in the related items tab and use that for a PC simulator, you will also need this cable to reverse channels and for other programming functions, so don't buy the TX without it...
your welcome david I initially bought the transmitter without the cable just cause it does have to come from hong kong and used it for several scratch builds it works wonderfully but i recently made an order from international and decided to add it. hopefully spring comes around soon for you guys always sucks to be grounded due to weather happy flying
David you get 100g for $3. The cable ships at 60g. So you have a spare 40g. So consider grabbing a spare receiver. You can never have to many Rx's. This SYSTEM is compatible so you us a HK Rx or Turnigy Rx. Both under 40g.
I have looked in all the other stores that sell the radios that match this with just a different name and all of them just come with the cable you cant get it seperately so you get the radio from hobbyking unfortunatly you will have to buy the cable from the international wharehouse
David no you do not get the cable. You will need to order it from the international warehouse. You need it to do any changes at all. You need Hobby King 2.4Ghz 6Ch Tx USB Cable (SKU: FS-L001). Sorry.
I'd like to order this along with the AXM airplane, but the cable is not available in the U.S.. Can I use it as it comes ? Or do I really need the cable ?
david you should be able to use the radio with the axn as is just make sure that when your putting the electronics in the plane ie servos that you check them with the radio that way you can put them in the radio will move them in the propper direction without the need to reverse the servo otherwise the cable will be required to fly the propper way.
David buy a cable. I have 3 of them but it is so much harder with out a cable. If you keep the weight under 100g then it only cost $3 to postage. Grab a spare receiver while you are at it.
I just need to decide on the 4ch or 6ch avalibity in my area should decide for me but you answered my questions & it's always nice when the answers are as I hoped they would be,THANKS AGAIN
no problem anything to help i would go for 6ch just because of the possibility of needing it later. i would also reccommend the programming cable for this radio otherwise you cant change any of the settings
So now I,m confident the THROTTLE will be on the left(Mode 2)Now this may be silly but the control stick will travel up & down if the transmitter is being held up-right in normal fashion of-course:) Secondly I plan on using this Transmitter for multi projects.I know their are fancier transmitters that make this a little simpler but $$$ is a huge issue right now.So long as I purchase HK compatible receivers or even more simple if I,m only involved with one project at a time I technically can swap the receiver that comes with the TX into a electric buggy,Boat, & possibly a park plane????I know years ago due to frequency issues this would not be a good idea but with 2.4 technology I can pull this off,or am I missing something? Lastly does this TX RX system have good range?I should at least get the range my NOW VINTAGE AIRTRONICS SR used to get?Yes?No? Thanks for your time,I do appreciate it,Capt.Larry & son Zephyr
the throttle is on the left hand side with mode 2 the control stick does move up and down for throttle and left right for rudder control on planes and yes this can be switched to different projects if you have multiple recievers though you have to keep binding the radio to it not a huge deal but easier to use on receiver as far as frequeny issues goes most of the rc stuff ie boats, cars, and planes all use the 2.4 technology now and as far as range i believe it says 1.5 to 2.5 km which is mile to mile and half some people say they get a little better it all depends on how much radio noise is in the area your at its always recommended you do a range test on it before you use it in your area
You will need the Hobbyking 2.4ghz 6ch Tx USB Cable.Product ID:FS-L001.You will also have to download the T6 Config program that you can find online ,Same T6 Config program as Fly Sky FS-CT6B transmitter.JK.
Lee E it does say ""This system must be programmed via PC cable."" So if you want more you, the member need to ask. See HK can only do what is asked. There are a lot of ways, to be heard. Your issue is minor. So you could ask at the members forum (Blue Tab at Top Of Page) or just use the Small Blue Issue Tab above. As the members ask (that is enough ask) it will happen. So look up and you will see the ISSUE tab just below the USAwarehoue Sign. And above the Related Products.
OK guys, I want to do simulater setup and I tryed the instructions under the files tab, but did not work. I am running W7 64bit on my desk top. Will award best answer
Yes,it is the Hobbykig 2.4ghz 6ch Tx USB Cable. Product ID: FS-L001.You will also need to download T6 Config program, its in the files tab on the HK 2.4ghz 6ch Transmitter page in international warehouse.Hope this helps.JK.
Francis yes the cable is Hobby King 2.4Ghz 6Ch Tx USB Cable (SKU: FS-L001) PRODUCT ID: FS-L001 but the FILES under the Purple File Tab are GONE. So you will have to search them out, for now. All the file are GONE and HK says it is some sort of UPDATE???
Does anyone know if this radio will work with this airplane? http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__15147__18 2_Seaplane_1_5meter_Plug_n_Fly_optional_floats_USA_W arehouse_.html
Thanks
Sorry if this shows up twice, I tried to answer earlier but apparently it didn't send. This radio will work for that plane. But I will mention that this Tx needs a special cable that is only available from the Global warehouse to make changes to it. So if you need to reverse any servos, which you likely will need to to get it to work correctly for this plane, you need that cable. Even if it is in stock, it'll take a few weeks to ship from China. The 4 channel version does NOT need a cable to reverse servos. However, I see that the plane has optional flaps and you need a 6 channel, like this one, to use them. Also, the 4 channel can NOT be mixed. So if in the future you want a delta wing or a V-tail, the 4 channel Tx will NOT work. It's up to you. I thought I'd give you a good run through of the differences. This 6 channel is a great cheap radio if you want to expand and use it with different planes. But you will have to wait for the cable to use this radio properly. I see that the 4 channel is on backorder, but it might take the cable just as long to show up. If you do not want to install flaps and only want the radio for that plane, the 4 channel radio is cheaper and might be a good option for you.
When in plane mode my throttle shows no travel on my computer but when in heli mode the bars move when the stick moves. Throttle hold shows that it works, and i come to the same conclusion with a servo plugged into the throttle channel with no movement. Its very frustrating and I cant understand why and i havent found anyone who has the same problem.
Jacob all I can think is you may have the throttle disabled. I think it is the switch on the left hand side. If it is up, flick it back. (Remember if in plane when testing remove prop).
New is completely right. It is default for one of the two switches to be throttle cut off and the other to turn on and off the dual rates. Flip the switches on the Tx and find out what happens. The only other thing I can think of is if you don't have the Tx controls set to the correct channels, but it doesn't sound like that.
No, thats what i meant by the throttle hold. I tried everything i can think of. I tried changing all the stop and end points and the mode and the subtrim. Nothing seems to work, i know the internals are ok if the throttle works in the heli mode so that makes me believe its something to do with the software or the programming
So has it been like this from NEW. Is it possible you have assigned the on off switch else where. Did you save the base setup (most users do not). I think it works in Heli mode because the Motor disable is not used. So if this has been a problem from new then maybe you have a faulty switch. Please let me know!
Huh... Did you try turning off the throttle cut? NewToHK might be right that one of your switches is bad. Or maybe your software is weird, maybe try reinstalling it. I know somewhere, I think either this Tx in the global warehouse or for the cable, I found some saves someone uploaded. Maybe try downloading those and opening them and see what happens. I guess I could upload a few different saves if people wanted, I can't at the current moment so you'd have to wait for me to do that on this page.
Your program doesn't have a glider mode, does it? Maybe you have a different version than I do. It is the only other thing I can think of. I'm at work so I don't have the controller with me, which means the program runs differently, but currently the different "types" it is listing for me is ACRO and then a few HELIs. Maybe try ACRO if you have it.
I was just screwing around with my controller and the T6config program. It looks like when you go from a HELI mode back to ACRO, it messes up the mixes. My throttle would jump to full speed right away and channel 1 and 2 didn't work at all. Turning off all three mixes should fix your problem. But the easiest way for you to reset everything would be to download a save file and open that. I'm at home now so I'll upload a few save files under the file tab on this page. I made a quick file similar to default, a delta wing mix, and one that uses the switches for flaps and/or a bomb drop. I have a mode 1, throttle on the right, but I made all the save files for mode 2. I hope this fixes your problem and let me know if it does or doesn't.
Jacob, I had a similar problem with my TX. Check your mixs, and clear them up, also you can download files under the files tab that will erase what you have on the Tx, and replace any data on it. Hope this helps.
When you make the changes in the program it automatically makes the changes to your Tx and the Tx remembers these changes. (Unsure if it still remembers if you take out the batteries.) But to save it onto your computer for easy changes between set ups that you like* Simply click the "SAVE" button and save it somewhere on your computer. At least on the version I have, the button will say "open" instead of "save" after you have selected the place and file name. Nor does it have any designation as to what type of file it is. For example, there is no ".html" or ".mp3" after the file name. It's weird but it works. I hope that makes sense. You click the "save" button in the program and then click the "open" button in the pop up window.
Let's see if I can explain this. I know that there is a video on YouTube explaining how to do this, but I'll try to also. Click the "MIX." button in the program. Under "mix num" you see that there are three different mixes. You will use two of these. Under mix 1, change the source to one of the two channels that you are mixing, under des change it to the other. Change both the up and down rates to -100. Change switch to "ON". Go to mix 2 and do the opposite. The source and the des will be swapped, using the two channels you are trying to mix together. And change the up and down rates to 100. Again, switch it on. I'm unsure of what changing the up and down rates do. I think it is how much it is mixed in so you will want it 100 percent, I think the negative and positive has to do with which direct they mix. You might get the same result by reversing one of the channels. You'll want mix 3 to be "OFF".
I recently discovered that the only way to get the switches and knobs to work for channel 5 or 6 is by using the mixes. To do this the source has to be "VRA" or "VRB" and the des has to be channel 5 or 6. You can make the switch "SWA" or "SWB" to make the switches turn them on and off. So if you want flaps, you can use the knob to set the distance of the flap and use one of the switches to turn it on or off. I plan on using it by always having it on and just using a knob to adjust the flap. Then I can slowly bring down the flaps instead of having them drop instantly. (And I can still use the switches for throttle cut and dual rate.)
ok now when I plug my radio into my computer... nothing happens. How do I start the program? whats it called?

3 thumbs up!
CAUTION: If you buy this radio from the USA Warehouse, you also need to buy the USB programming cord www.link from the HK warehouse. Every other place that sells this radio includes the USB cord. Hobby King separates the cord from the package then sells it separately - but doesn't even offer it in their USA warehouse!

1 thumbs up!
A must have for any flyer, Great transmitter and reciever. The size is perfect and don't forget to order the neck strap. The reason for the 4 stars is they don't mention that you need the USB cable and where to down load the software files from. Had to figure that out on my own. For the price you can't beat it.....Great product thanks HK

Radio is very nice. Works well, binds well, does what you expect. However, you need a transmitter usb cable, which hobbyking does not provide (or even sell in the US warehouse). If you were planning on using this with the Mini-swift, you WILL need the cable, or else your aileron and elevator imputs will be reversed.

Well I have to give this radio a glowing 5 STARS! The damage it received during shipping was severe. The sticks for the radio were shoved through both boxes and I was sure the radio would be back in a box to Hobby King but that was not the case. After inspection and testing the unit is fine! Not a bit of damage and all the functions work normally.
Shame on the USPS for such terrible transport damage to an item but a big thumbs up to hobby King for selling a budget radio that apparently can take quite a bit of abuse and keep right on functioning.
I wont be flying with the radio because its going in a plane I'm selling but it seemed to range test fine. I will report back if he claims there are any range issues.
