I used this twice and worked great. Today put on car battery to charge depleted Lipo and green lights all on, no charge % led and no fan. Would bad battery do this?
jason  15 points - 4/21/2013

Has anybody tried or does anybody know if I will I be able to use this with my laptop charger if the output voltage is 19.5v ???
 Gone Boating 114 points
I use this with a 12 volt power supply and it works fine, it's my charger of choice, I've been using it for well over a year now with no problems at all.
pm79311  3 points - 3/15/2013

Do the light turn green and stay green when it is finished, or does it just keep flashing between green and red?
 Gone Boating 114 points
it's red when charging and turns green when done, it's a very simple easy to use charger.

So will this charge 2 batteries at once or just one?
 roryflick 23 points
It will only charge 2 2s batteries at once. 3s and 4s are one at a time.
oreoo  1 points - 6/25/2012

Is there any max charge time with this charger?

I want to charge a 25AH Lipo battery, and want something simple (and slow is ok)

Thanks
 Mark 398 points
No, runs as long as battery is connected.
Mista walrus  27 points - 6/6/2011

How do you connect this charger to a car. Plz give detaild instructions as i am a noob at this stuff. Thanx!
 jeffie8696 16 points
Connect the red alligator clip to the positive side of your car battery and the black one to the negative, they are marked on the battery with a plus and minus sign respectively.

just 1 more question, the aligator clips that came with the charger seem to small, will they still fit?
 jeffie8696 16 points
I installed a small screw in the top of my top post battery to attach the clips. You can attach the clip to any place on the battery connection that it will fit.
 Mista walrus 27 points
k just tried it with a small screw, worked perfectly! thanks!

oh and does the car have to be running? because my mom does not want her car battery to die
Mista walrus  27 points - 4/24/2011

so turns out that my laptop power supply has a to big of a power lead, and i know i can charge from the car, but my mom wont let me use her car, so any other way i can use without buying a new power supply?
 majik01 2650 points
a) Go to Radio Shack. Tell them you need an adapter harness to use for your laptop power supply. Be sure to bring the TGY 420 charger and laptop PS for a "fitting". b) If you have a **** desktop computer chances it has a switching power supply - google "computer power supply mod" and go from there.

HobbyKing Power Supply 100~240v 5A so is this a good power supply for this charger? and i was only wondering if the battery would work because it says all rhino and zippy batterys would fit.
 madruga 89 points
the power supply is great for low chargers rates.your turnigy batery have the JST-XH conector from balancer like rhino and zippy battery.
 CrashinDutchman 281 points
The charger can handle max 2A and the supply can provide 5A. You are safe to use it!

Yes.. good power supply. Remember that this charger use 2Amps instead of the great 5 that u can ask at the power supply! About the battery i didn't understand the question.
 dwvabeach 66 points
Those Power Supplies look like they will work. The input voltage range on this charger says 11-18V with a current range of .5 to 2A. That Power supply should be able to provide that no problem.

I think that Turnigy packs use the same style balance plugs as rhino and zippy as well.

 karmonkey 110 points
of course it will work!! charge your lipo at 0,5A and you are ready to go, remember always balance the lipo in every charge
 fathead431 575 points
there ar 5 amp power supplies fro 8.95. just search for "5A"
this charger will charge that battery fine when set at its lowest charge rate.

Battery should work on this , as regarding a cheap power supply , old computer PSU's are cheap , you can often get a free old one , just by asking at a friendly computer shop . Most put out 200 watts and are Ideal for powering chargers
 b-29er 47 points
yes, it will work, it will just take a while. If you have a laptop, you may already have a power supply. just check if it is 12-18 v and up to 5 amps.

Hi, will a laptop charger with output: 18.5V 3.5A 65W work for this charger?

2 thumbs up!
I purchased one of these from HK a couple months ago and it has been the most reliable charger I have owned to date. Its very good at balancing cells and can charge 2 2S packs at the same time.
I would highly recommend this charger to anyone looking for a no fuss easy to use charger that is quality built without breaking the bank.
I'm getting ready to order a second one so I can charge my 3S and 2S packs at the same time at the field.

I just received my second Turnigy 420 balance charger today and its even nicer then my old one! The fan seems to have been improved and is very quite. If it wasn't for the nice breeze coming out of it you would hardly know it was even on. All else seems to be similar as my previous one. I charged my first set of 2S packs with it earlier and everything ran cool and no funny smells or unbalanced cells. Looks like another winner to me! Something I did notice with this one is that the cell percentage rates are off. It will state a cell is at 100pcnt when it is not. Doesn't seem to be a problem as the cell continues to charge until full and then the charge ends at 4.17v per cell perfectly balanced. So it seems like the charger knows what its doing even if the display is a little off. I'm guessing there are some little pots in there I can mess with to change it but as long as it charges properly I don't care what the display says. I will still rate this 5 star as it works just fine. If I have problems with it down the road I will report back with a revised rating.

Just got mine today. Complete lack of written instructions, not that it is all that difficult to just plug in my batts and watch the little green lights but I would like to know some things like weither I can charge more than one batt at a time or what. Thats why only 4 stars. Very quiet fan. Mine does thae same thing as others, says it is 100 percent charged but is still charging.

Simply the best. Had mine for over a season and it is flawless. Let the lights turn green then test. PERFECT BALANCE! EVERY TIME! Use it to finish all of my batts off after charged on other chargers. Will clean up balance after my Emax B6 tries.
