4370kv motor/17t pinion/HK 60A ESC : 2s lipo * ~55km/h. 3s lipo * ~80km/h. Be advised the stock diffs DO NOT like 3s. They barely last one battery. I've ordered some steel diffs but I don't have 'em yet so I'll report back how and if they fit...
The 19t pinion I have (product code 249000064) doesn't fit the stock motor mount without modification and since I'm lazy I stuck to using a 17t pinion (product code 249000107). That being said, based on my temps that I've been getting with the 17t pinion, I don't think a 19t pinion will be a problem heat wise...
There is a member in the HK forums that sells metal spur gears for the 1/16 beetle. Username is sour41. Check in forum under the "RC Cars, Trucks & Cycles" heading for the thread called "1/16 Monster Beatle,Racing Buggy,4WD Mini Rally". Is near the top of the list. He doesn't have stock atm but he should have again in a week or 2.
I have installed this engine in my 1/16 Racing Buggy. It's awesome! I reached almost 100km/h.
I mounted a 19T pinion and the steel spur gear made **by sour41.
The pinion is damaged after 15min, the spur gear is too hard, I recommend using a nylon spur gear, or the 15T pinion made sour41 also.
Hope that helps.
60A ESC is fine yes. Have a look under the 2wd desert buggy for the 17t pinion. That will fit without any problems. If you want to use a bigger one (19t or 21t also found under the 2wd desert buggy parts) you will have to enlarge the top hole in the motor mount.
i use this motor in my rally extreme with a 45amp ESC out of my 10th SCT4. i could only use a 15tooth pinion with motor mount i needed to drill it to use larger pinion
Good for you, John. But since this motor only runs at 46 amps max, you should be able to run it with the HK-45A, Lucas. If the price between the HK-45A and the HK-60A makes no difference to you, then probably purchase the 60A ESC just to be safe. Whichever ESC you purchase, it is small enough to fit in the Mini Summit.
I've ordered one of these to find out just that. I'll report back once I have it. If it doesn't fit I'm chucking it in my Mini 8 :) That being said, I'm currently running my 1/16 Beatle (Same drivetrain as the 1/16 Rally extreme) with one of the 3890kv 2445(S2445-3890) size motors from HK along with a 19T pinion that you can find under the "1/10 Brushless 2WD Desert Racing Buggy" parts. It meshes fine with the stock spur on the 1/16 Beatle. You can also try running it with the 21t pinion they have as well. Don't have a radar gun but did a speed runs using a stopwatch and the speed seems to be the same as the stock 4500kv/15t setup. As an added bonus the 2445 size motor provides GALLONS more torque than the 2040 size motor and it doesn't get hot enough to cause blisters like the stock 2040 motor. My only concern with THIS motor vs the 3870kv 2245 motor is that it might have TOO MUCH torque for the relatively frail cast iron gears in the diffs...
Running this in the 1/16 Monster Beatle. WOW! Motor will fit the stock motor mount, but WILL rub on bottom of the chassis. Also you're going to have to get creative with the servo mounting. You can also use the fibreglass chassis/driveshaft/upper deck from the 1/16 RALLY EXTREME since it is about 2cm longer than the Beatle chassis and will give you a little more room to work with. NOTE: The 17t pinion from the "Turnigy 1/10 Brushless 2WD Desert Racing Buggy" is the biggest one that will fit. Shaft size is spot on and it meshes perfectly with the stock spur. INSANE on 3s. Keep in mind that the drivetrain won't hold up to 3s but a couple of high speed passes never harmed anyone. (Unless you drive into someone...)
I'm using the "HK-60A" ESC with this motor on my 1/16 beetle. Appears to be out of stock at the moment but any of the other 60A car ESCs should be fine. Yes, the motor specs says 46A but get a 60A ESC minimum just to have some headroom.
Your going to twist your axles, get upgrades. And keep your initial acceleration on low/1-2, and start your timing at lowest setting. I keep mine on 2 and run about 75, that setup is fast and still controllable.
Bacter I feel for you. It is hard to go from a can brushed moter to the new brushless. You cna google it and ther is a heap of info about them. But basics is the is no brushes. Also you will need a new ESC. I hope this helps.
Brushed motors run a DC style power supply. Most brushed motors can be run just by using a standard alkaline battery without a speed controller. Their design is quite simple - power is supplied to the motor via the terminals, it then charges and electromagnet on the in side of the motors shaft which repels it against a magnet on the case of the motor. Each time the motor turns the charge is sent to a different electromagnet on the shaft increasing the speed of the motor. Brushless motors rely heavily on the speed controller telling where the motor is at. A pulse of power is sent down one of the motor wires and in turn charges the electromagnet. This, like the brushed motor, causes the motor shaft to turn. As power is pushed into one of the wires and used to turn the shaft some power is sent out in order to tell the speed controller when to supply more power and to which phase. Brushless motors also rely heavily on their speed controllers as they contain a micro processor that manages the power and timing of the motor.
i have a rc car boat brushless 380 Feisuda 4370kv motor and i need another one....the fellow i brought it from cannot get anymore is there anyone that can get me one/its purple:)
Hi. If it bolts up, it will work. Just make sure the shaft sizes are correct. This is a very high Kv motor, so check it against your standard motor to understand how fast/slow it will be in comparison.
This motor is too small for the Rustler and Stampede. This one is the same diameter of the 1/16 Mini Revo motor!
You want to find a 540 can for the Rustler and Stampede, also a 35A ESC is too small for the Rustler and Stampede, go with at least 60A.
A bit heavy. Also there is no room to swing a prop worthy of this motor, on an easystar.
Best ES motor is the TP2409_12T with a 7x6 prop. It will break the wings without fiber tape on the bottom, full length. AWESOME combo. You can run WOT on 2 cell lipo forever and not burn the 2409_12 up, and it's less than $10.
At first glance it might be okay for 70m EDF but it is:
* a bit heavy, but okay.
* on 4S will draw many Amps with 4370Kv, more than the rated 46A
* would be better around 3500Kv to run more comfortably on 4S.

Great replacement for the mini revo. I'm running an 18 tooth pinion also on 2s . 500 watts will get it done for sure. This motor is a direct fit.

Excellent motor, lots of torque pushes a mini revo with authority!!! does standing backflips geared high on 2s and runs fairly cool.
